Can't gambling addiction also be positive?

Yes hobbies are like good addiction because the person will like the hobby and like to do it frequently. But it is called hobby because such thing will help his life and health. Something like playing football, going for finishing and the likes. But if that thing is harming the person, it would be seen as addiction. If someone is noticing that he is gambling in a way that it is demanding too much time from him, the person will only notice losses. The more the person is gambling and betting, the more the losses. The people that win from gambling and betting are not doing it frequently and they are not addicted to it.

The point is that we should be able to make the difference between negative effect of anything that has to do with addiction and positive effects of that same thing, the truth is that even when we tend to talk more about the negative effect of gambling addiction there are also positive effects and I believed that is what the op is trying to emphasize on, while others might be affected negatively by addiction some others are benefiting from it, the question is, does gambling addiction have a positive vibes? As for me I will say yes because there are those that drives joy when comes to gambling, such that they have become used to gambling to the extend they gamble or find themselves doing anything that is gambling related just to make themselves happy. Gambling addiction can also have a very bad or negative effects on a gambler when he or she decides to be doing things like, gambling with an amount that he can not afford to lose, borrowing to gamble chasing losses, and so many other things that are being talked about here that are gambling bad habits or irresponsible gambling act.

Addiction means someone who is already dependent on something they like so that they cannot ignore a single moment without gambling, meaning addiction is a situation where someone always acts excessively in treating an activity and as we know that everything that is done excessively is certainly not good, especially if we talk about gambling which is a risky activity that can make us lose money even though we are a responsible gambler.

So I think that there is no positive impact in an addiction situation, because it is a situation where gamblers lose more money and time and also experience mental and psychological pressure, meaning I think gambling will only be able to provide a positive side when you are not addicted and gamble just to find entertainment, the benefit is that you can feel entertained when you have boring free time.

As the title reads, I want us to come to a reasonable conclusion about this addiction of a thing in gambling by arguing it back and forth. Many months ago, I was in an argument with a user about the fact that the addiction to gambling can't only be negative as many people portray it. I relied on the grounds that if some gamblers could regularly earn in sports betting, while others derive fun and take gambling as their hobby, are they not deriving a positive goal there? Is that not a positive addiction?

I further argued that everything mustn't have to be about money to make it positive or negative. Some kinds of gambling and gaming relieve stress in some people and give them the desired happiness. This goes a long way depending on the mindset we played it.

My view was a long epistle that I wouldn't want to bug anyone with even as my external sources confirmed hobby as a good addiction. Regardless, I don't want to limit this to my understanding, I want you guys to share your opinions as well.

Sorry, but addiction to gambling can not and can never be positive in any ways, and this does not matter how much long you argue it, or what points you bring to the table, addiction to gambling is pure sickness and sickness is not a positive thing in the life of anyone.

First and foremost, you have to understand that gambling is never a reliable means of making money, and even for those who gamble for fun, there are other fun activities one can participate in that is way more healthy and benefiting than gambling, and even for free, and a good example is exercising.
Gambling can be fun but can be best done without being addicted to it, addiction to gambling makes one spend unnecessarily, money that should have been used for things more important, is spent just to satisfy the addicted gambler's hunger, this is not a thing to be proud of bud.

Addiction is always a bad thing, because it's something the individual doesn't have any control over. Therefore, it's something which is inevitably going to impact his life negatively in other aspects as well, possibly reaching his family, professional career, social network, and also preventing him from accomplishing objectives and dreams.

Every extremes must be avoided in order to have a healthy functional life. Balance is the key, even though it's impossible to remain balanced all the time, without any oscillations.

Anyway, if someone is able to earn money from gambling and have fun from it, it means this person isn't an addicted one. Otherwise, gambling wouldn't be fun, and he would never be able to quit with profit on his pockets.

I am yet to get a proper argument about any positive effects of gambling. In other words there are none and even though some rare guy might win a jackpot - but it is never a one shot jackpot, it would have taken them a large number of wagers to be finally hitting the jackpot through luck and the cumulative loss might go over the jackpot amount.

So yeah, no positives if you ask me. Keep it limited and you might actually have some fun playing theses games but that is all.

You are yet to get any. That's because there is no good form of addiction that I have seen; every form of addiction is bad, even if it leads someone to winning the jackpot. What they have lost during the point of chasing that jackpot, if put together, might even be larger than what they just won, just as you have pointed out.
 
People can still play responsibly and still win the jackpot. Getting addicted to gambling and constant playing does not guarantee a big win, so why not limit the way they play on others not to lose more than they could possibly win in their whole life in gambling?
