I probably understand why, but it doesn't change the fact that their blame is far from accurate. If they mention name of the mining company instead, i expect those company would feel more public pressure.

And i think government official who give permit to the company or ignore Granbury residents complaint are the one who should move there.

noise pollution can really destroy a person's life. people that haven't experienced it maybe they don't completely understand how destructive it can be to someone's mental health to say nothing about their physical health which apparently some of these granbury residents claim it has affected their physical health too and i'm not going to doubt that.

Fluid cooled miners all but eliminate the issue as the large dry coolers are pretty damn quiet to begin with and if needed barriers can be put around them to deflect their low rumble away from the surrounding areas.

texas has fuck you laws to homeowners.

why fix the issue if the fines are so cheap that just pay the fines to save millions.

I dropped out of this thread a while back because it seems that you only want to BMW (Bitch Moan and Whine).

I posted earlier that the company says that they have shut down a large number of miners, have started building a sound barrier and are converting to immersion cooling.

I asked if that was true or not.  Nobody confirmed nor denied what the company said they were doing, just more BMW'ing.

So if the company is doing what they claim to be doing, then what more can you demand?  If not then by all means continue bitching.  But show me the objective truth that they are NOT doing what they say they are doing.

I totally agree, it seems like OP just want to criticize Bitcoin miners for whatever reason, it's very clear when you see his other thread regarding Bitcoin mining where he states

If miners are mining > noise pollution, stop mining, bitcoin mining is evil.

not sure what operating costs would be to earn that coin.

But at 50% they make 500,000 a day or $180,000,000 a year profits.

I would think they could spend 2 or 3 million on sound and 10 million to own the closest row of homes.

that is only 13 million or 26 days worth of profits.

Folks that live there may not want to sell.  I wonder which was first, the power plants or homes?

The article says that this is loading down an already stressed grid, but it seems to me that putting industry next to the power generation would NOT be a load on our grid since that portion of the grid is a few feet away.  Also they are concerned about the emissions of the power generation, Natural Gas has far lower emissions than coal, but not as low as the nuclear reactor just west of this site.

The money they make from the miners base-load is what is paying for that expansion and it is NOT just for miners benefit - when conditions merit the miners shut down so power can be sent to people & companies that need it.

anyway. It would be quieter and far more energy efficient. Plus they could pipe the heat into the ground and loop it back to be quiet. Especially If the buy a few blocks of the closest homes.

there are no clear meter numbers.

if the gear sounds at 70db on. the front porch it is too loud as it is 24/7/365.

but good articles would
 a) give db  meter readings on porches
b) give db meter readings in house living room and bedroom
c) explain db laws for the town
d) do pitch db readings

noise is funky when I worked in the navy from 11 pm to 7am I would do a four hour printing job.
I would bring a chair and lay my head on the printer enclosed top.

I would get four hours of sleep 💤 only would wake up when printer stopped.

I would bring a tall roller chair right up to it and lay my head on that plexiglass window get 3-4 hours sleep and the job would finish.

exacty, all this money and resources and they can't get a freaking db meter for $10 or so to actually get an accurate measurement of noise.

interestingly enough, Mara spokesman said

"sounds from our operations are within the normal range experienced every day from a variety of sources"

So in this case, someone is surely lying, it is either the neighbours or Mara, it takes 5 mins and a few bucks to figure out.
