So I decided to start airdrop hunting. I also sid some research and have come up with some potentially profitable airdrops. What is astounding is the number of wallets you need to download and keep track of. In this thread, I'll be posting all my airdrop campaigns with the hope to help others who need these these airdrops. Also I hope to get more clues on what I missed from experienced hunters. I'll also be updating the posts when I receive any tokens from a project.

Number One

My first airdrop hunt is for $MOVE token, the internal currency of Movement. Here are the steps I got from my research and other hunters.

Guide to Unlocking Massive $MOVE Airdrop.

In my opinion, participating in airdrops is more like gambling especially when you are told that tokens will be randomly distributed to xx number of people. The philosophy of random selection, to me, is not fair selection criteria. I wonder why project team will not chose the first xx people that meets the criteria? My experience in participating in airdrops also shows that 99% don't reward participants. If you intend to participate in airdrops, I suggest you take your time to conduct a through research, otherwise, don't waste your precious time. However, airdrops that have to do with exchanges, testnets and mining looks more promising.

I guess they want to minimize the tokens or coins to be distributed while having the maximum people do the work for them. I.e testing and promoting. If it does gain value, they wouldn’t want almost everyone holding their tokens or coins already. They would want others to actually buy.

The thing is some airdrops do take a while. It’s not immediate and some people might lose interest and patience while others just wait and get lucky.

The philosophy of random selection, to me, is not fair selection criteria.
It's not fair but it's part of their strategy to seek attention and not to dilute the rewards.

I wonder why project team will not chose the first xx people that meets the criteria?
if that's the criteria, they will not able to attract people to try their luck with the project and as a result, much more airdrop hunters getting attracted which means better metric for the project.

My experience in participating in airdrops also shows that 99% don't reward participants.
unfortunately this is the case, airdrop is good for airdrop hunters before, but right now most project just outright try to milk the airdrop hunter just for the sake of attracting investors with their metric which actually isn't organic.

but the remaining 1% proven to be quite profitable amounting to billions worth of USD in airdrop free money

I agree. The gem projects absolutely became harder to find in order to even consider them worth the time and effort for the activities they provide, however, it's still possible, especially for those being the shillers, influencers, and people with big referral base.

Good luck with your airdrop hunting. Not all of them are profitable but when you find one then that's a huge success for you. The success rate of airdrops is higher when we're in a bull run and just like now, we're entering that phase and we know what the signs are because we're done with the halving several months ago. So, keep us updated but expect that your grinding won't be fruitful if you do it with several of the airdrop projects that you see.

It is wrong to consider Airdrop as gambling, because in Airdrop you do not need any cost, even if there are options such as farming with some Staking actions etc. it depends on your choice and you are not required to complete it. Airdrop is free and as long as you do not spend any money then it cannot be said to be gambling. So there is a difference that you need to filter regarding gambling and airdrop. Even if the lure will be listed at a fairly good price, it does not mean gambling but you have succeeded in finding a hidden gem from the tasks that have been completed. the project team has the right to implement a random selection system but you can also choose to hunt for the project or not. Exchange-based airdrops, testnet, and mining do not promise all of them to have an equal position depending on who the investor is, and how many funding rounds have been collected.

There are actually two types of airdrop hunting the first one is what OP posted that is doing testing and involving alpha and beta testing of the platforms, you need to possess technical knowhow on how to use different wallets and to transact, the second type of airdrop which is very popular now is the one that only involves tapping it comprise of doing tasks and increasing profit per hour, I am more involved on the latter because it's so easy and fun to do.

Airdrop is the easiest way for a platform to build its community because people love free coins, and there is no risk since you only spend time and effort, and people are actually making money doing these airdrops like the early birds of Notcoin; airdrops will continue to exist because developers see a huge community who loves to participate on airdrops.

Participating in airdrops isn’t really a bad idea, you just have to be very careful. Most of the airdrops you will see now are just scams, and some that will be paying are not really paying well, the money isn’t really worth it. I know some are paying well, but there are just a few, which will be very difficult to get. So if you are looking for a source of income, then it’s just better if you get something better doing and don’t just depend on airdrops.

When participating in airdrops, you have to be very careful with the wallet that you will be using. Make sure the wallet is just for airdrops and don’t store any coins in it, because once you connect your wallet with some airdrop site, they do have access to your wallet, and some might move everything you have in the wallet, so be careful.

How many airdrops are you participating in?I thought you said you would be sharing the airdrops that you are participating in here, but I can only see one.

ARB was a huge one, but the reality is that they are sharing the whole marketcap with that, so 4.4 billion in 2023 was the marketcap of the biggest airdropped tokens but it was the marketcap, not the airdropped amount to people.

In the end, ARB was the great one that changed things, a lot of people showed a lot of interest to it and I am guessing that they will do the same thing again in 2024 with another token, maybe they already did with notcoin not sure, but like I said, just one good project doesn't mean that airdrops all worth it. How many people put in how many hours into this? If it's 4 billion dollars but people all around the world spent 4 billion hours into it all together combined, that doesn't make sense, it is not profitable and it is a stupid move.

This basically tells us that everyone in 2023 lost money and time except ARB people, is that a good idea? Should we consider airdrops as success just because one of them was a success. Same with notcoin, that one was good, but nothign else in 2024 made any money, does that mean airdrops worth it? I do not think that they are worth it, they are totally waste of time and even if there is just one or two that's good, that's not enough.

Many points in the first paragraph are valid, however, even the good drops, with good prerequisites, can allocate the rewards poorly, making the community angry and feeling scammed (but they are not, in fact). Thus, you need to allocate your efforts to not one, but at least 3 or 4 projects which, from analysis, are good to get started in.
