Yea, I don't think there's any point in trusting politicians to keep their words. Countless examples of them, well, not doing anything have already been shown. They're all trying to score some brownie points cause its an election and after that, it's see you in the next election time again.

Granted I'm already DCA'ing Bitcoin so even if they didn't do jack with their words I'm all fine with it and if they actually do, then it may be nice or not (depending on the direction their interference goes). Definitely wouldn't use their words as a basis to buy Bitcoin though.

I have always believed and said exactly this and I still believe this. Politicians don't joke with what they say.

Trump got on stage and told everyone to never sell their Bitcoin, raised a ton of Bitcoin from the community, then immediately sold them all to fund his campaign............
Proof? Link? You just pulled that out of your ass, didn't you?!

Politicians are inherently duplicitous.  They say all the things you want to hear because they need your vote.  But once they have power, they do the things their political donors tell them to do, because they need the money.  Once they have your vote, you don't actually matter.

However, if you're a bitcoiner who lives in America, would you really vote for Kamala Harris or a candidate who will have an anticrypto agenda under his administration? I reckon the decision is very easy, the vote will be for Trump. I am aware that he might not keep his promises, however, it is certainly much better than more years of uncle Gary's crackdowns, grandma Warren's campaign in the senate against the cryptospace and grandma Yellen's other anticrypto motivations.

That's what's going on, we all know politicians are two-faced, but do American citizens have any other choice than those two candidates?

To be fair, I support Trump but I still have many doubts about what he says and if he gets elected and doesn't keep his promises, I won't be surprised or disappointed because that's politics. But I'll still vote for him, it's much better than voting for the Democratic candidate with what they're doing against crypto. If we vote for Trump we will have a chance even though they are very slim, but if we vote for Kalama we no longer have any chance. I don't think it was a wise decision for us to throw our opportunity out the window.

For my personal stance, issues like abortion and generally not becoming a fascist state would take precedence over crypto.  Can't stand those Republicans obsessed with their dark-age religious dogma and their deplorable, antiquated "values".  And the fact that they're willing to adopt totalitarianism to make it happen is just appalling.  If I had ever lived in America, I'd have almost certainly left by now, it's that sickening.  Harris all the way.

There is no way we can verify the true intentions of these sweet talkers.

But the greatest and the most truthful message came from Edward Snowden  and it reads:

Quote
“Cast a vote, but don’t join a cult". “They are not our tribe. They are not your personality. They have their own interests, their own values, their own things they’re chasing. Try to get what you need from them, but don’t give yourself to them, even if you have to vote for them.”
There's no better quote that can be related to this than the quoted text that OP has shared. Thanks for sharing.

This is also the reason why I don't like to see Bitcoin's price increasing because of these politicians because at the end of the day, we don't know their TRUE intentions, and they might only be using Bitcoin for their own sake. We know that these politicians have 2 personas. 1 is being selfish where they want to implement anything that they want, and there's another one which is them becoming sweet talkers when election comes.

Many might hate Trump and his way of campaigning himself, but looking at his opponent/s, I don't think that there's anybody that comes close to him. We know that he will win in the upcoming elections with or without Bitcoin. I guess let's just look at it as a good thing that he's promoting Bitcoin for his own sake hence, affects the price. At the end of the day, it's a win-win for us investors, and for him.

The speeches of Donald Trump, Robert F Kennedy, US Senators Bill Hagerty, Cynthia Lummis, and Tim Scott at this year's Bitcoin Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, received the spotlight in the Bitcoin community. Donald Trump and Robert F Kennedy spoke so well about Bitcoin thereby receiving applause and cheers from attendees. I was also thrilled by their comments because it will affect the Bitcoin space positively.

Trump said Bitcoin is a wonder to the world and will soon overtake gold. He promised to make the US the crypto capital of the world. Kennedy also promised to apply the same strategy of Nayib Bukele of El Salvador by making the US buy 500 BTC daily until the country's reserve gets to 4 million BTC. Such a wonderful promise.

I honestly feel pretty embarassed as a btc holder that community gives a stage to these kind of people. It feels like btc took immediately dip from 69k to 66 just because pure embaressement of that rambling.
Quote from: trump
“Most people have no idea what the hell it is, you know that, right?”
There's no way in the world i would believe that he understands what Bitcoin is. He just wants to pander his voters and say what he thinks they want to hear. He will eat his words if being elected, because he just don't give a rats ass about btc. Pandering everyone is however difficult when voterbase is scattered and, not surprisingly christian values of banning pro choice wouldn't mix well with libertarians who want less government oversight and control over their own choices.

Politicians often make grand promises to gain support, but their actions don't always align with their words. Edward Snowden's message serves as a crucial reminder that we must remain vigilant and question the true motives behind these endorsements

However, if you're a bitcoiner who lives in America, would you really vote for Kamala Harris or a candidate who will have an anticrypto agenda under his administration?
If anybody is making their choice based on such a small matter like "crypto" and based on some empty words by the same corrupt politicians that have been in key roles most of their lives and have not done anything positive for Bitcoin, then they are not mature enough to vote and shouldn't vote in first place in my opinion.

P.S. Out of curiosity do people really think Americans are going to vote for a woman to be president? Specially one forced on them through a silent coup d'état against the US constitution?
All I personally see is more polarization of the American public and possibility of civil war reaching an ATH.

A politician can say one thing today and reverse it the next day, there is no repercussion of this type of actions.

Hence one must never trust what they say but have our own agenda in mind and try to align that agenda to their actions. Like if they make a new shitcoin, dont go around buying it hoping it to be the next bitcoin, because it will not be one.

If they bring something good to crypto we will always welcome it.

Regulations and taxation are things that need to be done, many other countries are facing a hard time trying to get these things in place and it will be sort of a guideline for them. If these things are done properly, accept them and spread the word worldwide. Just dont believe everything they say.

I did not know Kennedy wanted to accumulate 4 Million BTC well that's a big chase/target for him if he wins, I wonder how he will do that. Thanks for sharing this news it was really informative and I do agree with your quote of Edward because we should benefit from these political leaders and pave our way.

We should not dedicate ourselves to them, but not every person will be ok with it, because some things they deserve their full dedication and they think we should be in their cult. The world is full of diverse people including the US. People fought for their leaders, and stood with their leaders, but if voters will only be voting for their own interest then I think a sense will be created in the environment that both the voters and the presidential candidates will be cold-hearted and won't respect each other on the backs of each others.

The US government owning 4M BTC = the US government now controls the price of BTC = the US government now effectively controls Bitcoin.

Good luck with that.

The US government owning 4M BTC ~
That's easier said than done. To purchase 20% of the total bitcoin supply at the current price they'd need $270 billion and sellers who would give up their coins. And all of that is if the price stays the same and not shoot up making the whole purchase cost $270 trillion. Roll Eyes

If people adopted this mindset, politicians would be much more efficient, while many of them would have to get out of the political scenario, because there wouldn't be spot for them there anymore. It would mean the end of idolatry, and the beginning of a more reasonable society.

However, it's not going to happen anytime soon. I doubt most people are able to develop and transcend into that kind of personality considering how primitive they still behave, despite having access to vast technological content, what is a big irony nowadays... The more technology people have, more primitive the actions are.

And even worst is that if you decide for not belonging to any profane cults, you are most likely to not find any companion who you can talk and share ideas in a productive and rewarding way.

The US government owning 4M BTC ~
That's easier said than done. To purchase 20% of the total bitcoin supply at the current price they'd need $270 billion and sellers who would give up their coins. And all of that is if the price stays the same and not shoot up making the whole purchase cost $270 trillion. Roll Eyes

Well, $270B is not out of the question when you are talking about the US government, but the goal here is to buy enough to manipulate the market (which is what everybody here seems to want). So they probably wouldn't need to buy 20% of Bitcoin, probably only 5% would do it.

And on the flip side, if Trump got mad at the Bitcoin whales (say they didn't donate enough) he could threaten to outlaw Bitcoin in the USA and send the price down by about 80% in a single day, with just a few words from the President of the US.

"He who can destroy a thing, can control a thing." -- Frank Herbert / Dune

Bitcoin getting into bed with politicians will be it's downfall. Just watch.

In other words as far as Bitcoin is concerned, he'll be like Elon Musk on steroids! One day hyping bitcoin up, so price goes up and silly people are happy about it. The other day when he realizes he can't control the decentralized Bitcoin he'll start the FUD and price crashes while he pumps a centralized shitcoin for personal gain; as silly people realize they were fooled but it'd be late...

If people ignore Trump and Elon Musk, they will feel more comfortable with their investment adventure in Bitcoin. Invest, hold and ignore speeches for well-known people who are either politicians or entrepreneurs, their life will become easier.

Since 2009, there are some Presidents in the USA and the general trend of Bitcoin is parabolic upward. One President with 4 or 8 years in presidency terms, won't be able to stop Bitcoin growth. If they can not do it in 2009 and some earlier years after that, it's now harder to do this in 2024 and more years in future, it will become harder and harder to stop Bitcoin.

More people adopt Bitcoin will make it stronger and no longer have risk of taken down by governments, not only the USA. government.

People struggle to accept that nobody controls Bitcoin because, frankly, very few truly understand it. Unless Bitcoin is attacked at the protocol level, everything else is just temporary noise. Over time, Bitcoin's inherent principles will silence this noise, much like gravity eventually pulls everything back down.

Talking just about the price of Bitcoin--the only thing 99% of people in the community seem to care about Smiley--the introduction of US politics into Bitcoin means that it's now controlled at the whim of US politics. That's why so many are "excited" about Trump pandering to Bitcoin: because they think he will make the price go up.

The technical takeover of the network is another discussion (which, let's agree, should not be dragged into this discussion), but if Bitcoin retreats to being $1 in the future it will be effectively "dead" to 99.9% of its current users regardless of the status of the network.

And if politics and politicians control what 99% of a thing's users care about, then... politics and politicians control that thing. Giving the US government the power to manipulate the price of Bitcoin gives the US the power to manipulate the Bitcoin network in all practicality.

Hehehehe, however, only a naive person would think or speculate that 1 party is making the set of circumstances better than the other party. The Republicans and the Democrats are only 1 party of 2 factions. They are controlled by corporate America, the real owners of the country. You cannot escape this.
