One of the first things, if not first, an investor does when he wakes up in the morning is check the news for any crypto related updates. Some news can have massive impact on the market which is why it is so important to make sure that the news we see are factual and came from a reputable source.

Many people are so used to spreading FUD because of unverified news from sketchy platforms. I researched which websites should we check for the latest and most accurate crypto news.

Do I read from these sites? Sure. Would I consider them all as credible, or fully trust them? definitely not...

Cointelegraph is known for advertising shady sites for as long as I can remember... I also wouldn't call them credible, not after announcing ETFs without checking with their sources.

To me, it's not necessary the first thing you do when you wake up. Checking the latest news are for traders who have to constantly monitor the market so not to fall in traps to miss out on important trades. I'm used to getting notifications from my coin telegraph app about important news updates. Most of the time not that those other websites drops inaccurate information, but then most of their informations are either old or not even important to some extent. Sites like coindesk or coin telegraph usually updates their news ever top hours so as to keep their audience updated with the latest happening In the market.

Following the news is like reading a history book. If the news is negative, the price will have already been affected and you should benefit from it to take future steps so that you achieve profits before the news spreads. Decrypt and cointelegraph are the best sources.

I don't read all of them but there are times that I randomly check these crypto websites for publication of the news or if there's a sudden fluctuation for Bitcoin's price. Well, a gathered information to verify resources is a good thing and which of them has the most relible sources for fact checking is okay. But I'd agree about those sources that OmegaStaScream said, it's best not to rely on them but I've only known about RVer's Bitcoin.com.

I think most of the users of this forum start their day by reading the threads of this place. I have breakfast reading the forum, and I end my day by reading the forum. And if we talk about the best and most reliable place for news,  I will name this forum again, of course, based on the posts of people I trust. In addition, news from several telegram channels in my native language also does not force me to check several times, which provides convenience and the absence of any fuss.

Investors who want to hodl might want to avoid any news as to not be tempted to sell in case negative news pop up. But even as a long-term holder, I still make sure to check the news just to be aware of what is happening in the community. I guess you just have to train yourself to not let news affect you and your decisions too much.

This forum having all kinds of topic related to crypto and some not even related to crypto makes it easier to access all kinds of news. However a lot of us can still fall victim to misinformation which is why it is always the best to check the sources.

It is not uncommon for imprecise or non-objective information to come even from the source itself. I would agree with OmegaStarScream in his comment, it's fine to find some info on news portals but to trust them unreservedly is completely wrong.
For example, I find more useful and precise information about something when I read comments on the forum about that news.

It's not direct answer to your question, but personally i would mention https://btctimes.com/ as well. Obviously i don't trust them 100%, but they're not creating news of everything happening on cryptocurrency world.

Cointelegraph is known for advertising shady sites for as long as I can remember... I also wouldn't call them credible, not after announcing ETFs without checking with their sources.

Their frequently title clickbait and turning tweets into news are also annoying.

Personally, I do not read any of them with any real seal of approval. I would rather search the news online to find the latest related articles regardless of the source and then make up my own mind as to how much credibility I would like to give it.

See you are getting two different things mixed up.

1. You talk about investors getting to know about new projects to invest in and for the genuine investors who do that, do not rely on news media. They go question the advisors, look into their past involvement in different projects and how they have fared. If the project is based on a location, they would visit that and talk to the people employed, try out their product and so on.

The wannabe investors who use these media sites are poor examples of how information should be gathered.

2. As far as reporting of news is done, you can follow either of these sites but you have to have the sieve effect in your brain, not all news need your attention.

One problem is that there is no investigative journalism in cryptocurrencies, so a fake news can spread widely without being verified, so do not use these services to get technical information or advice on how to secure your coins/privacy. So it is better to follow reliable accounts on Reddit, Twitter and this forum, as they are good sources and the good thing about them is that you can find less biased analysis of the news.

Undoubtedly, these are the very sites that most Bitcoin investors do visit to verify and get updates on what’s going on in the crypto market but, if it’s the first, I highly doubt that. At least, not for me. If I react based on the informations I get from the news, hardly too.

It doesn’t matter if it’s FUD or not. My reactions mainly has been in response to what I observe on the charts rather than some news. Mind you, news can be spiced depending on the writer and publishers. They are useful for updates and serve some verifier.

The forum however punch holes in all that as, someone is sure to bring some of these news here and have everyone look at it. Dissect it into its piece to get a ground view of it.

Regardless what news outlet shows in the list, i always check multiple sources when it comes to news this includes those top articles shows in google, reddit, twitter, and this forum (if there is already). So FUD and misinformation is not a thing for me to be worried, unless the news/article/topic is a FUD to begin with.

I read news from a few of those websites you have mentioned, but where i do most of my reading is in this forum, even when i read an article in any of those websites, i still come to check if anyone has posted about it on the forum, the reason why i do so is to read the responses of other good users to the news, you always get different perspectives and you would easily find out if the article is trash or not. Don't just trust any news you read from any article, compare it with others and find discussions of the community about it.

The same goes for me, when I see something that's new news like from coinmarketcap, I check all of the resources and from the known ones that have also been mentioned on OP's list. That's the typical approach that we should do to fact-check and verify the resources because many nowadays aren't credible and even from the reputable source, sometimes they stumble and have some problem with establishing the details and gathering facts as they publish it. I think that someday we'll have personalities that are going to be reliable and the community will believe on them. However, knowing that in crypto, it's hard to find that reliable resource person so we all have to do all the work.

Reddit is *not* a news website. It is a social media aggregator for other news websites. And it is actually better to check reddit than to read all of these different news sources because you can filter out the unreliable stuff straight away, and also because you get to read normal people's perspective on the situation instead of one person's carefully crafted opinion.

What I prefer is to read people sentiments so usually I go on multiple forums especially when I want to verify something regarding to what news I read from those online news sites. Since sometimes they put misleading title or contents just to boost something that's why its not really good we trust them automatically since as you said the opinion of lots of people is more valid that believing on the writers thought about the issue he discussed.

So Reddit and Bitcointalk for me is a good platform to get knowledge since on those platforms we can verify something we want to learn especially for those hot topics that currently discuss by a lot of people online.
