Have you heard these kind of statement; "Enjoy me now that the season hasn't started oh, once the season starts, it's between me and football. I've heard and seen a lot of those where people adjust a lot of thier schedules once the season is in full action.

An example is in a local football pitch that's close to my residence, once the season starts, most of the sporting events that happens from 4pm starts experiencing scanty turn up because most of the EPL matches always happens at such time and fans can't afford to miss it for any reason.

There are stories that some husbands get mood swing a lot when thier favourite team don't win games which can even affect how they relate with the wife.

There are people that will even stop coming to church weekly activity once the season starts because it conflicts with the time they will normally use in watching matches. These are just the least of the schedules that gets low turn up and changes once the season starts and for some cases it affect businesses, families and some social gatherings negatively.

The effect is overstated. Except you follow every league avidly you should be seeing tops 4-5 matches a week, most of which are on weekends. This is a total of 500 minutes or 8.3 hours, very small compared to the total amount of hours we have in a week.
Weekend activities can be disrupted, but there are many other things that can do that on a regular basis, most people will be sitting in all through weekends anyway.

Most games are played on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays which are free working days most families spend at home doing less of the office work. How that disturbs people's schedule is what I can't relate with because typically, the average 90 minutes of a full football match is too small a time to do so.

There is time for everything and I believe that weekends are days of rest for all and that is why you go to church in the morning on Sunday and by 12pm, you should be done with church an d back home to rest. The first match on Sunday might be by 12.30pm if there are a lot of matches on that day, and you will have the time to enjoy your match till evening when you prepare to go to work the next day.

It’s the opposite in my country, people don’t care about the new season begins because we are a country that busy on work and businesses. We usually just turn to sports mode on when the finals or play-offs is already enter since we tend to do bandwagon on popular teams that currently dominating the league.

I’m not that a sports fan guy but I have a lot of friend that is addicted on sports especially basketball. I always notice the change in behavior positive way whenever sports season is already a hype in my country.

New sporting season makes it easier for one to relax well after you're done with the days activity. It's nothing negative at all but builds up an engaging atmosphere where you see series of sports related discussions both on and offline that interest you and r duve any form of boredom from your mind. I'm not even a movie freak that enjoys watching movies or shows in place of football, it gets too bored most times when major seasons are not running and you even have to watch less competitive leagues or force yourself to watching movies that's not even your area of interest.

The only time I feel a particular match can make me counsel an event I've planned to attend is either during a champions league finals or a major tournament finals but even at that, it still depends on how important the task is. If it's something that's very important that I need to attend to, then I don't see any match that has the potential of getting my attention to that extent. After all, even if I don't watch the live match I can always come back to watch the match highlight or watch the full match as it so please me.

Those stories are true, that happens because of sports addiction, yes sports addiction is also a thing and when someone sees his country's or his favorite team performing better that that person gets mood swings.

Those people who are so into those matches should most probably move outside their homes to watch those matches as it's not preferable to watch those matches inside homes because the chance of clashes get higher when someone's fav team losses the game, and as a prevention one should move outside to watch the matches.

I'm curious to know what country you speak of. That's a country I would very much love to visit and live in. It must be a very productive country. If I may ask, what is your national sports? Is it football or some other sport? My country is crazy about football. There's always a frenzy when the it's game night. Exactly what the OP has narrated. But I think it is a toxic kind of relationship. If people choose football over every other thing unless football watching football is what pays the bills. Where it is not it is unnecessary to invest so much productive hours into it at the detriment of ones livelihood or regular life.

I live in a country where football is the most loved and most popular sport among many others. Football seasons stir up different kinds of emotions in both children, adults, men and women. Everyone with their schedules because I can't say that football would make me miss something that could be beneficial to me and my family, of course most people finds it very hard to leave matches to do other things but there is something we calls placing of priorities. This shows that you must first show importance to things that matters before giving your spare time to things you know won't affect you anymore, at least football is game to ease stressed and you can watch it at spare time it doesn't compromised my activities.

Superbowl and football league sometimes stir the schedule of the sports fan but not all I think. Some people travel far just to get to the arena but some of us are just going to subscribe to a sports channel, especially the new sports channel which only has less than 30$ a year subscription.

The ones that just bet on sports online, I'm sure they'd rather just watch TV. Going to the stadium is a waste of time already. Everything is on the mobile phones and if you want a big screen, there's your TV.

As a fan of basketball, when the NBA season starts, most of the games are in the morning here in my timeline so what I do is prepare everything, from meals for the kids, their uniforms for school, and their other necessities so I can watch the game peacefully.
But, when the game is not over yet and they need to go to school, I won't let the game stop me. Responsibilities first before my own hobby because that's how it's supposed to be.
Since I am not watching the real live game, the streaming services always have the replays and I can watch it there. Or, I can just watch the highlights to complete the ending of the game.

In my case, my schedule doesn't stay the same when the games of the best leagues in the world start, because I like to watch the games and follow the results of the games and since the games have started in the afternoon and on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, that's why I do my most difficult tasks at other times, which would be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and that way I can follow the games without affecting my life. Now, when the big leagues are on vacation, I go back to my normal schedule. Of course, there are cases where I sometimes have a very important task during the game period and I leave the games aside to fulfill the very important task.

Here in my neighborhood, when there's a Real Madrid vs. Barcelona game, people scream so loudly every time a goal is scored. The funniest part is that the streets are empty because everyone is watching the game. The same happens with Premier League games involving Manchester City. Football brings joy to people.

I don't think it's really necessary to allow such events affect your other activities. For someome with a 6-6 job even when there's a match or something that shouldn't be a reason for him to stay out of work. You can decide to watch only those match that are important to you in the whole league. Alot of people has favorite clubs, so would only prefer to watch just those match played by them alone. The whole league doesn't concern them that much to affect their schedule. It might cause a lot of distractions to follow up all through the seain except for someone that has nothing to do that period.

Most of my friends say the same thing to their girlfriends before the start of the season  - they’ll be like “from now till next month please do whatever you like with the tv because as soon as the season start football will take over” but the same I cannot be said for me.

I don’t watch/follow the whole games just few of them like those my favorite players are involved in or my team is a part of, so it doesn’t really affect me whether a new season starts or not.

In some countries, you need to work very hard to have a good life. Less attention is given to entertainment because people work during weekends. My country is also crazy about football especially the English Premier League and any other competition the national team is competing in. Saturdays and Sundays are usually work-free days in the civil service, and most businesses are closed on Sundays. So it is common to see sports lovers at home and in public places watching football.

It is not a conscious behavior. Following sporting activities can be addictive, and you wouldn't know when it has started affecting your relationship with loved ones. However, it is pertinent to balance our dedication to sports with jobs and family. The family comes first, our source of income should be next before any other activities.

I am with you here Some do be like that - and it's just how things go, but not for me. Not to this extent
