Skot released the first bitaxeGamma miner, which is powered by a 1370 chip and has a very impressive hashing performance

i think that the news should not only be shared via twitter/x, but should also be announced here in the forum!!!
today it was announced that the Gekkosience founder and forum user sidehack will now work on a bitaxe project, which will be open source (as known from the bitaxe community). so he will bring all his know how into the future bitaxe miners and provide more exciting products!

Okay so what actually happened is GekkoScience will be manufacturing Bitaxe Gamma and Supra models. But because I am who I am, I redesigned the board from scratch and made some changes to the circuit in ways I believe are better instead of just copying the stock files. Should still be physically compatible with the baseline version.

Sales should go live tonight. I got GekkoScience Edition Gammas in hand.

can you perhaps say more about these planned improvements to the circuitry?

It's a Bitmain chip, and we've already got systems for interfacing to them, so I replaced some of their circuitry with what we've already been using. I also moved some things around, simplified some things, beefed up some things. The goals were to tighten up some sloppy work, improve efficiency, improve stability, and improve manufacturability with our existing parts and processes. Also the ability (enabled by a solder jumper) to power the board from screw terminals instead of the barrel jack.

Sales are live on our website now. I need to button up some admin and post our files for license compliance (doing that later today) but product listings are up. The first run was short, around 100 units, but the next big batch is already in early stages. We'll have Supras in a few weeks as well.

on the left you can see a Qaxe+ and on the right a NerdQaxe+. both miners are equipped with 4 1368 chips each, have a hash rate of ~2.5 th/s and consume 50 watts
the only difference is that the Qaxe+ miner is controlled via an rpi whereas the NerdQaxe+ is operated via its own axeos and has its own display

careful with those screw terminal to barrel plug adapter like you have on your NerdQaxe.. they are notoriously low quality.

question on the gamma four pin pwm .  how much power can it handle?

.5 amp at 5 volt
.4 amp at 5 volt
.3 amp at 5 volt
.2 amp at 5 volt
.1 amp at 5 volt

I have the stock noctua which rates at .07 amp at 5 volt


the one below is noctua NF-A9 5v pwm it says 0.26amp
