the Internet (maybe Starlink?)
Can you please provide me starlink service? I'm ready to pay you a big sum. For your info, starlink isn't available in my country. I have the best internet service available here in my local.

I think he just assume that Starlink is available in your country since it cover most of the country in the world.

I just checked official Starlink website and it will be available next year in your country. Sadly there’s no better alternative on Starlink if you don’t have internet connection provided by your local ISP.

Btw you can reserve now your Starlink on the official website to get early access on the product once available.

With that there's nothing to do but to rely only on their local ISP for now. Since starlink will be available in their country next year.

Information about that starlink in bangladesh https://medium.com/@mdparvejali/starlink-bangladesh-pre-order-now-for-high-speed-internet-starting-2025-1a3f5d574893

It cost $9 only to secure their slot.

There's no price indicated yet but maybe they can get an idea about it here https://medium.com/@mdparvejali/starlink-bangladesh-price-plans-awaiting-launch-196b277416a3.

Here is an alternative:

Starlink is ridiculously expensive where I live and I assume it will be costly in other countries. Even though he is a manager, I think it's okay even in force major situations not to have Starlink and a gasoline generator. He is a campaign manager, not a CEO of Microsoft.

True.
If someone makes $50K per month, they can spend a hundred dollars on the internet bill, and it's nothing for them. Starlink is not for average people. My ISP charges me $6/month and provides a 5 Mbps connection, which is not bad for what I do. I am not a gamer or streamer so that I may need high-speed internet. In case of emergency, I can boost my internet speed.

I have also checked the Starlink website, and the minimum internet bill per month is around $100, which is too expensive for me, even though I use a $6/month plan. These natural disasters do not happen every day or every year. If someone has an agency or a company, they might need Starlink Internet.

Absolutely!
A monthly cost of around $100 can be seen as reasonable or expensive depending on our needs and location. In some third-world countries (apologies if the term offends anyone), this might be considered expensive. It's understandable why those people are looking for alternative options or exploring other internet providers that might offer more affordable plans.

That said, setting up a Starlink connection is fairly easy compared to traditional satellite or broadband setups. Someday things might more easy and affordable worldwide.

Buy Starlink and resell it. You will have free high speed internet plus you will have an additional source of income.  Wink
btw. 5 Mbps is quite slow, after all, we are in the year 2024.

Yes, that can be a good source of income and at the same time can help him to have internet all the time. But, who knows if Starlink increases its plan value overtime when they see high traffic.

We all know that Elon Musk is a good businessmen and that's why there's chance that he may increase the value of plans overtime. By the way, I'm on a 10 Mbps Fiber connection and it works like a charm for me.

You don’t have to buy Starlink if you’re concerned about the monthly service fee — but I heard Starlink mini has launched, but is there any adjustment to the service fee?

I haven’t checked how much a Starlink subscription fee in my area — if it’s $50 or cheaper, I think it’d be a great option for a home internet connection. If it's $100 a month - then Starlink probably isn't the internet service I need right now. LOL

We're talking about Bangladesh, I expect it to be slower than average. And $6 per month is quite low too.

Are you sure that I don't have to buy Starlink? How am I gonna receive the internet without a Starlink receiver? I visited their website right now and I see that I have to pay 600$ for the hardware, 60$ monthly for the service and 90$ for the shipping. I live in a country where the average salary is 500$ but rent is as expensive as in Europe (thank god the majority of us have our own houses).
I pay 20$ a month for internet and my internet speed is 100 Mbps.

Btw it's another story when you live in Europe, the USA and similar countries where income is high. I can't demand such an expensive service from a guy who is from Bangladesh and to be fair, such emergency cases happen once in a decade.

Well, I did not think about reselling it, but thanks for the idea. I was planning to do something. But let me share what is the problem. I do not do politics and the local politics here is too bad. We have one Internet provider in the village and he do politics and he has some political power. This is why another person cannot start their own internet because that guy is doing the business with his political power. It's not only in my village, the situation is same in most villages in Bangladesh where only one internet service provider internet and no matter how bad their services, you do not have another option. They are just Mac reseller. If I want to start a business, I have to join a political party and bribe them.

The discussion may no longer be about Little Mouse's condition - but now about proper anticipation when electricity and internet are not available during a disaster. How about opening a new thread about anticipation strategies for things that help when natural disasters occur, I think that would be good now?

Given that Little Mouse is back - will OP keep this thread open or close it soon?
