Hello people,

I'm having trouble calculating the average price of my bitcoins, because I don't know exactly where the price of Bitcoin is.

For example: can anyone tell me a way to check the price of Bitcoin at 9:20 pm (UTC+0) on January 7th, 2021, please?

- The time zone can be any, and if necessary I can convert it later.

- The price of Bitcoin can be in BRL, USD, USDT or any other stable coin.

- The market can be Binance or even the global average.

Is there any way to check this for free?

I would like to learn how to do it so that I can find it myself, without having to rely on API connections.

Thank you very much for reading this far Smiley

On a crypto exchange, set the chart to 5 minutes. Scroll back to January 7th, 2021 9:20 pm. Most exchanges are using UTC+0 by default. All the exchanges that I have used before set the times zone as UTC+0. Scrolling it back on the 5 minutes chart can be frustrating but it is possible.

Set it to monthly chart first to be certain that the exchange has the chart starting before January 7th, 2021.

I personally use CMC (Coinmarketcap) for this, but although I think it is the most commonly used, it may not be the best.

It is very easy to look up the price directly on the chart, simply by placing the cursor over the moment in time at which you are interested in knowing the data.

Why do you want to know the data, if I may ask? if it is to do your own calculations on DCA you can do it that way accurately. On the contrary, if you are looking for the exact price due to some kind of legal obligation, then ask for professional advice because criteria on how to calculate the price can vary depending on the country in question.

Edit: my fault, I would've sworn that you'd be able to look at the price of that day into more detail in the website I mentioned, but it seems that you can only see the high and low of the day.

Better try on crypto exchanges until you find one which lets you see the price at that certain time, if possible, like Charles-Tim said.

Yes, there's an easy way to get those data for free through the use of an explorer [e.g. Trezor Bitcoin Explorer], but depending on how they're getting the average price, it might not be 100% accurate [AFAIK, the prices that are being shown in there are based on the time each transaction has been included in a block, as opposed to the time it was broadcasted].

  • Just hover over the BTC amount area whenever you're viewing a transaction or history of your addresses on Trezor's Explorer:

If you purchased your Bitcoins on chain or sent them to a Bitcoin address as soon as you purchased them, then that's easy. You could just use a blockchain explorer like Blockchair which will indicate to you the Value of your Bitcoin in USD at that time.

Alternatively, you can request for trading data from the exchanges you used in the past to trade. I believe they can avail it to you in CSV format.

@NoStocksPlease, Tell me the exchange you used and I will try to walk you through
