This is nothing but scams, I headed to coinmarkcap myself and I saw many like it below many altcoins projects, he was lucky to have shared this with me, and he claimed that he already connected his special airdrop wallet, I just told him to abandon that wallet and create another, because I am sure it's likely compromised already.

Changing the address is important, but it's not a good move because your cousin could fall into the same trap without you know it. The best way is to educate him technically, you can teach him how to check the DApp connected to his address via Revoke.cash & do revoke. They also support lots of networks which you can check one by one on this page.

The forum members in this forum always advice to people that being careful can make your assets safe even if it's sending crypto. It is obvious that it is a fake account and that is what we keep seeing on social media people trying to stain good platforms that have high numbers of users. This is not the first time and their is no way this can be stopped even when you report the account, it would always take longer time before any responses will be attended to. Scammers are now trying to look the same like the site of platform they are trying to clone or copy just to steal money from innocent users. Newbies need to note this and verify every accounts they are following on social media so that they would not end up losing money to scammers.

I am planning to make an account there but it seems that only those popular ones who have got a community can easily get more followers there. This is classic scam attempt which they make people believe that there's ongoing airdrops happening in that channel. Its dangerous for newbies especially they are on airdrops since provably that they might fall in this schemes.

What we can able to do with this is to warn people regarding on those type of scams and never believe on anything we see that they give free money with certain condition like putting our private key in their platform or they need to deposit some amount to get larger share on their airdrop since usually we will end up getting scam with this. But this is a fake X handle of CoinMarketCap. It is clearly not even a verified account so I don’t blame CoinMarketCap here. Yes platforms like this are easily targets for scammers to use as bait for their potential victims, but CoinMarketCap themselves do not shill any information of this Altcoins like that such as to protect their customers. The one news I have heard about them is data breach which is common for this platforms That’s why it is advisable to always stay away from giving ones vital information to this platform.

Just like you’re a guide to your cousin is what everyone who is still new to cryptocurrency needs. The amount of scams propagated on social media accounts all in the name of airdrops is alarming this days but sometimes I think it is people’s greed that pushes them to engage in such acts too

Coinmarketcap typically doesn't censor their community posting platform. It's similar to how you see scammers folk all over Twitter or on Facebook. It's the same thing everywhere. Whenever we onboard anybody to crypto, we should take the time to enjoy that they're educated about the security risks in crypto. Most times you wouldn't even differentiate the fake X accounts of some projects or people from the original one if you don't take time to verify very well and it is not advisable for you to connect the wallet that you mostly you for airdrops because most airdrops are scammers den so I will advise you create a new wallet if possible to stay on a safer side. I know a lot of people who has benefited from airdrops but I don't find those projects attractive since I discovered that scammers easily get their victims through gifts in airdrop forms.

I don't think there's any platform that scammers don't find a way to exploit. The only discussion platform that has not been infected that much by scammers is Reddit and that's because of how highly moderated it is. Anything that looks like a scam or spam is deleted and the user is penalised, still, I'm certain there are a form of scams there.
Take this forum for example, no matter how moderated it is, you still see some cheap scams. My point is, people have to be vigilant anywhere they are online. Look a the screenshot for example. that's apparently a coinmarketcap handle but it's not even verified and the handle is not in any way the same as coinmarketcap. Little details like this give them away that's why we have to look out for irregularities like these.

I don’t trust comments made under posts sharing links of certain projects telling people about it, even if you want to give it a try you shouldn’t just go engage with them right away verify its authenticity by doing research on them before engaging with them.
