By using coinmarektcap, scammers traps are not new in the crypto space but yet many investors are victim by their attack. We know that phishing sites are designed in such a way that a scammer will never understand at first glance. Since the crypto space is prone to scammers, a user should exercise utmost caution in every case. Those who want to participate in the airdrop must know whether the airdrop is real before joining. The original site of the airdrop should be found. Avoid joining if no authentic sign is found. Keep in mind that an airdrop link can be used by fraudsters to spread their scams.

The main purpose of fake airdrop sites is to collect personal information. A phishing site can spread and steal user's confidential information.

Some sites may also recommend downloading an app for AirDrop. Whenever that app is downloaded, the device can be infected with malicious malware, increasing the chances of losing data or assets stored in that device.

I guess you know who owns CMC? This is the crypto messiah who is currently sitting in jail and who says that 99% of people are "stupid" to the point that they will lose their coins if they keep them in non-custodial wallets. What I'm trying to say is that if you're going to play with dirt, then be prepared to get your hands dirty.

I personally visit CMC sometimes, but I neither see such things, nor am I personally interested in any airdrops - honestly, I have seen cats, dogs and various "animals" to such an extent that the whole scene is literally repulsive to me.

The pictures above are confirmed to be scammers at work, they knew that so many people are now making comments under popular and new crypto projects on coinmarketcap, avoid such links at all cost, if you already click on these links it is time to abandon the wallet.

Scammers are out there everywhere and it is our due diligence that we have to be aware what we click on the internet.
We have to be cognizant enough because scammers are targeting the non-techie people in crypto space making them their prey.
From the above screenshot we can easily say that it's a scammer impersonating Coinmarketcap but a non-techie person might not be able to identify the scammer in the first glance and might fall for their scam.

Some sites may also recommend downloading an app for AirDrop. Whenever that app is downloaded, the device can be infected with malicious malware, increasing the chances of losing data or assets stored in that device.
Asides not joining every airdrop that one sees on the internet and finding out the modus operandi of scammers, i also advise that people should keep their assets offline, that is the best decision one can make as regards protecting their coins, if your assets are offline, then even if you are attacked by a malware or whatnot, your assets will still be safe. Airdrops aren't so profitable, so it is amazing how people lose money and personal data in search of such an inconsequential amount.

there are many ways that scammers do to cheat nowadays, so as users we must pay more attention to which sources we can trust, because if it is easy to believe anything on the internet, then we will definitely be victims of these scammers.

always asking and verifying the sources we use is the most important thing, because other people's experiences can prevent us from the potential of being scammed. not visiting a link carelessly is also important, because it could be that the link has been infiltrated by malware by the scammers, so that it makes our devices more vulnerable. and finally, don't be in a hurry to find profit so that you are easily tempted by an offer. these things can be done to avoid the potential of being deceived by these scammers.

I mean it's not new to see something like this, for sure these scammers and hackers are willing to do everything just to scam people since they are for sure might scam a huge amount of money on a lot of people, For sure they are earning because they just continue and keep on doing this, if they are not earning anything from it I doubt that they are still gonna continue this kind of trick, so they are probably scamming a lot of people with this kind of strategy.

For sure this was not a legitimate page of Coinmarketcap they just created a similar account to scam people since we know that coinmarketcap is already a popular website for most of cryptocurrency trader or users etc, so they might easily trust the link if they see that it is posted by coinmarketcap, something they could easily make the mistake of not doing a legitimate check if the page is legit or not. Its easy to see that it is a scam one, if you are looking for it.

It seems like scammers would always find away to harm people. But, I'm surprise that this happened to a trusted app like Coinmarketcap? how would coinmarketcap would let this slide just like that? it is a big platform which already around for a long time. they should update their app security immediately.

Even without knowing much about this seeing this on the profile has shown that it is a scam and we all need to be careful, since the day the dog was announced that it would be listed, many scammers have raised to look for a way to scam those who work for the airdrop, Don't be surprised by seeing a trusted app like coinmarketcap, many apps are trusted but scammers always find a way to use the app to scammed people and again all app is not to be trusted, if you don't believe the app or doubting something about it is better you ask or don't use the app.

During the claim, many people are looking for a trusted app that they are going to use in the exchange of their dog coin so that they will have a good price when the exchange starts, although it is not bad to look for a good exchange but we should be careful with some app because many scammers are ready whenever they see that many people are going to earn from airdrop.

That's correct. This is the official profile of @CoinMarketCap, which has 12.3M followers and a blue verification checkmark.

The Community section, when you open any coin page on CMC, is the most risky, as you will find a lot of comments from these fake impersonator accounts and phishing links in addition to FUDsters who spread fake information and misleading news to drive investors out of the market, so anyone can completely ignore this section and not take what is posted there seriously. Also, suppose you try clicking on any posted link. In that case, it will display the following warning message: "This link leads to an external website www.##.com and may contain potential security risks," with two buttons: "Let’s proceed" and "Cancel." Anyone who continues to the site despite the warning without doing their own research could potentially fall victim to a scam.

It is still dangerous that people might not notice their profile. I have to admit that I didn't notice it until you mentioned that  there is something unusual on those scammers fake account.

I usually check it back on the official Twitter/Telegram/Discord, if nobody talks about it on those group/channel, then it doesn't exist, that's how I know that it was a scam.

So this afternoon my cousins and I were discussing the DOGS airdrop and other then we ended up sharing information about the right place for airdrops, and one cousin of mine made mention of coinmarketcap, I use this platform but not for once have I get selected as a winner on this crypto platform, but things took an unexpected turn when he showed me screenshot.

Here is what he claimed to be his right source...

Scammers are ready to make use of any platform in making their strike for an attack on the targeted ones, not even now that things were revolving round and many are seeking for quick opportunity of making it through the airdrop rewards, even though they are doing less or nothing but just to claim the free airdrop, we have to intensify the way in which we conduct research on some of these offers and make sure that we are on the right platform for the intended offer because scammers are everywhere.
Yeah, this scammers really knows how to take advantage of what is the latest hype and craze in crypto, and right now, it's the airdrop of this project and so they quickly go to work and then using legit platform to spread their scams. Hopefully though, no one will fall for this trap as we can't really stop this criminals from trapping unsuspecting victims. And the best thing for newbies or even those who have been in the space for many years is to educate ourselves from this kind of running scams. And the good part is that there are lot of showers who are sharing their find and give us a healthy warning like the OP does here.

Am not surprised by this. Because where there is a large traffic of investors, and cryptocurrency enthusiasts that is where you will find most of the scammers. Out of 100% of the total number of sign-ups in coinmarketcap 30% are crypto scammers with multiple accounts. All of them with several different strategies to scam people. Some of them claim to whales with crypto telegram groups who would give you daily trading tips to make money while some claim to help you invest and make you rich like them.

Now it's not just the scammers there, most of the crypto listed on the tracing platform are scam tokens. So either these scams come to you as an individual or they come to you using crypto and airdrop.

Lately, scammers have been getting more creative, even using other scammers to trick people. They're asking people to connect their wallets to claim tokens or pay transaction fees to receive funds. My approach is to thoroughly investigate on social media before engaging. I check if the token is genuinely being distributed, verify the legitimacy of their followers, see how many people have claimed the tokens, and ensure the Telegram group I'm following is authentic. It's crucial to double-check any airdrops before participating.
I don't know if it's only me, but I don't find these scammers creative. In fact, they're using the same tricks over and over again for the past few years.
Phishing sites? Posting free airdrops on Twitter? They can't even change their usernames. I mean just a quick google search and you will see that the username is different.

I don't find these scammers to be creative. You know what's the problem? Investors are too gullible to fall for these free money tricks by these scammers. Scammers are evolving, but investors aren't. Newbies will always have a higher chance of falling to these shitty tactics. I find this a very common way of scamming people, but it works and it's because investors are too fond of free money that they are forgetting if that's a scam or not

Nothing surprising especially now that we know how popular Coinmarketcap is. I believe they will be using Coingecko in the future as well. Whatever happens, don't fall for these free money schemes by these scammers. We always say to do a bit of a research first before making an action.

I don't know if it's only me, but I don't find these scammers creative. In fact, they're using the same tricks over and over again for the past few years.

I don't find these scammers to be creative. You know what's the problem? Investors are too gullible to fall for these free money tricks by these scammers. Scammers are evolving, but investors aren't.
Scammers are pretty stupid but their reused scam methods can work and help them to scam money of many people. It's not because scammers are smart and clever but because victims of scammers are more stupid than scammers.

You post says all about fact of scammers and their victims. Scammers can evolve but their scam methods are nearly the same, with little changes but victims got scammed because they failed to prepare basic knowledge and could not control their action to be carefully and could not control their greed. If people can do these basic things, they will not be trapped by scammers.

I don't think there's any platform that scammers don't find a way to exploit. The only discussion platform that has not been infected that much by scammers is Reddit and that's because of how highly moderated it is. Anything that looks like a scam or spam is deleted and the user is penalised, still, I'm certain there are a form of scams there.
Take this forum for example, no matter how moderated it is, you still see some cheap scams. My point is, people have to be vigilant anywhere they are online. Look a the screenshot for example. that's apparently a coinmarketcap handle but it's not even verified and the handle is not in any way the same as coinmarketcap. Little details like this give them away that's why we have to look out for irregularities like these.
True, Reddit itself isn't that safe, few scam attempts on reddit look like the person is creating a sympathetic topic but they are trying to play victim and they end up dropping some link and that link is the gateway for their trick.

The platform is just better than the likes of Facebook and Twitter, believe me scammers are everywhere, there is no social media platform that's completely safe from scammers, the tactics they use per platform is the different due to the platform's separate securities.

The only way people can be ahead of these scammers is less attention, and looking deep before clicking on anything online, the numbers of scammers are increasing and they are getting more advanced by the day.
