With the news Telegram's CEO is being arrested today, it affect Ton coin and other tokens price that played in Telegram. It's surprising that the CEO is being arrested during the cryptocurrency in Telegram hype, it means that cryptocurrency is already that big.

Will this make government to ban Telegram? I found that there are few former countries that censor Telegram and there are few countries still ban Telegram. If The US start to ban Telegram, this will be a disaster.

I do not see any point in arresting the founder of Telegram as it is prohibiting technology and privacy. If they are arresting and taking him to trial which can lead to 20 years in prison then they should arrest those guys who founded the internet. This is a stupid and bizarre way to say that you as a founder should comply with anti-privacy laws. One of the main reasons why Bitcoin was invested is to uphold privacy and after this arrest, I think they as in the deep state will be going after mixers. All they need is a chance to persecute anyone who does not follow their directives.

I do not think other countries will follow the same path as this arrest is related to control of the app by the US and EU. Tiktok is banned in many countries but it is not banned in the EU or the US. I gave this example only to counter my reply.

Telegram based tapping mining are very popular now, We have a lot of this now, but with this news, it will take a back seat and affect these tapping mining negatively.

AFAIK Ton project has an existing case even before their popularity due to their illegal token sales. I thought this case was already removed since it’s already long time ago yet they still faced other issue now that they are popular.

I think censorship on this app will be inevitable since they are offering financial tool that is not regulated by the government including the encrypted feature that can be use for illegal purposes.

I like Telegram because they are the best messaging app in terms of privacy right now. Telegram doesn't limit anything on their app. You can create multiple groups, send any content without fear of being tapped, they even have TON as a transaction tool in their app and network. I'm sure some governments who want to monitor their citizens don't like Telegram. But I think it's the same as TikTok. It will continue to be popular because so far Telegram is the only one that can compete with WhatsApp.

Telegram case was been political motivated and target towards the CEO. They want to control his platform he built for himself and that beat the objective of his company vision. Just because he refused to censored information doesn't make him a bad person and if any other government want to continue in this path, the next person in line I will like to see arrested is Elon Musk. I have not see a crazy app as of recent as closed to his X platform and everyone used it including US to practice freedom of speech.

I see that Russia are fighting for him, same Russia that sent him packing out of the country to settled for another country and now they see him big already, they wouldn't want to lose something that valuable to France and useless anyhow, they are going to free him like nothing happen and everything will be settled for sure. It's just funny how government just want to control everything.

I hope my country will not follow this bad precedent. Telegram messaging is very much attached to the Cryptocurrency community because of its many features that are suited for the community, and the news of the arrest is just too bad for the community.

This proved that the world is not ready for tools like this, so instead of embracing them, they choose to ban and arrest developers.

There are two things that will happen, Telegram will just serve countries that are willing to accept them or they will add features and be compliant to what the regulators are asking, so we something to watch out for in the coming months.

Possible but I am not expecting that to happen. Maybe in the US, there's a possibility that it will be as they're the most strict country in the world when it comes to these matters.

A few months ago my country Indonesia threatened to block Telegram for not cooperating with licensing but so far Telegram can still be used in my country maybe they have done what the Indonesian government wants.

Because Telegram is “freedom of speech” Elon Musk supports it, while the government only wants cooperation they want including monitoring of Telegram including conversations?

Because I heard that Telegram has a lot of criminal activities that the French government considers this Durov's lack of openness because he knows Telegram doesn't want anyone to be able to monitor it.

When I saw the news of Durov arrest at the airport today waken more suspicion in me that this could be related to alot of memecoin hype and projects that are hosted on telegram without proper checks to see if those coins are worth it for investors or are just a flight risk with just the hype and craze that leads to investors loses of money along the line, although the news of his arrest have not been made official.

As far as I know, Telegram is in favour of the freedom of its users, and as consequence they don't follow orders from governments and regulators which go against this basic principle. At least, that is what happened in my country when the supreme court started hunting some people for "threatening democracy". Meanwhile, another platforms such as Twitter and Facebook immediately followed the orders.

This philosophy of Telegram may lead them being censored in more countries in the future, as governments become stricter and more tyrant against their citizens, although they can use the excuse they are protecting the citizens from a dangerous platform like Telegram, where there are scammers and terrorists operating anonymously.

Anyway, nothing changes at all, since we can still access Telegram despite its prohibition.

I think Telegram is going to encounter more difficulties from governments around the world because it's offering more than messaging, it's giving people a way to generate income and enabling transactions that the governments can't control. Probably Telegram is the biggest competitor against WhatsApp, since Telegram is a non profit company and the authority find a way to arrest the Telegram's CEO, they did this. WhatsApp is a profit company, so they might bribed the authority, anything can be done with money.

Twitter isn't even a strict social medias, there are many porn videos, mixers, torture or any other dangerous videos not being deleted. Elon Musk should be arrested too, but he has a lot money, so he can bribe the authority.

Telegram is unregulated platform lots of scams happened there and can't blame the government to block that app sites lots of anomalies happening there. Plus they create their own crypto which makes them more questionable.

If USA will block telegram for sure lots of countries will follow since some country is just following regarding on what they implement in their country. Also now that their CEO has been arrested then provably the list of countries that ban Telegram would rise up.

Not using this app anymore so I guess banning of this app cannot affect to crypto users since there are lot of ways where people can communicate online.

The point is that governments will always fight anything that they don't have total control over and both telegram and cryptocurrency represents privacy and freedom. So the telegram's founders arrest might be to intimidate him and let him bow to the pressures of regulations. Is it really coincidental that this arrest is coming when telegram is merging with cryptocurrency that has increased it's popularity. It's true that some people see telegram as a hub for scammers but then there are a lot of legit people that uses telegram too so you can't victimize it because of the criminal activities that goes through it, afterall there are scams in other apps and institutions. Will you hold the man that created AK-47 responsible because criminals also uses it? I hope that the matter is resolved amicably and people around the world will keep enjoying the services of telegram.

I had to do a quick dash to my TG handle too to check if there was a restriction or ban on it. It was crazy when the rumour broke. I'm safe at the moment on that.

Speculations are running into different routes on this. We may not have all the facts of his arrest. However, whatever it's that led to it won't be solely a Durov crime. If the allegations are on the use of Ton chain for creating memetokens that end up scamming people, then Solana and others should also be liable. If it's lack of moderation on telegram, other chat apps are also liable.

Anyway, whatever it's I believe it won't destroy the Ton ecosystem or collapse telegram. It's just going be a passing phase. That's my take.
