Telegram CEO is arrested, do you continue investing in tokens in Ton ecosystem?

Telegram's global operations may be jeopardized following the arrest of its CEO, Pavel Durov, in France on multiple charges of serious criminal activity. The potential for increased censorship efforts by other governments poses a significant threat to the app's future ^[2].

Investor sentiment toward the Ton blockchain took a hit as several tokens experienced price drops. TON, for instance, fell from 7 USD to 5 USD, and NOT from 0.012 USD to 0.008 USD, causing concern among those who had invested in Ton ecosystem tokens.

Conversely, the Telegram community is rallying behind their CEO, further elevating their esteem for Telegram and Ton due to their decentralized and unregulated nature. This could potentially fuel a surge in the value of Ton ecosystem tokens.

As the market swings, the pessimists will flee in terror, while the optimists will seize the moment to accumulate. But I'm a spectator, watching the drama unfold, hoping that Telegram's future remains bright.

If the system is decentralized, the impact of the CEO's arrest is not supposed to be long-term, meaning that all the losses that occurred will be compensated in less than a week, but the problem lies in the impact of the decision on Telegram. If the service policies change, it may affect users, which will greatly affect the platform and the token. I haven't invested in TON yet but I would consider it a good entry point, the success of the project revolves around attracting the attention of stablecoins and unfortunately what is happening with Telegram is that stablecoins will not move to TON due to political tensions. Their success in attracting stablecoins is what will gain the token a very high value.

No. I tried to trade it but the price of the coin had decreased already when I read the news.

If the price of ton will not fall further, that means he is not sentenced to prison because anything like this will further decrease the price.

I do not have the coin. But if I have it, I will prefer to just sell it for now. This is the reason I like bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto can not be arrested because nobody knows him/her/them.

I believe this presents another opportunity to invest in it, knowing that the possibility of its recovery is inevitable. A lot of things can happen and Telegram is well used in every industry for messaging so I don't think it will be closed or falter for a long time.

This makes me think that I want to buy TON.

I don’t think he will get a custodial sentence so this is all temporary FUD. He hasn’t committed any crimes himself, it’s just the French government pissed off that they can’t spy on people using TG. I think he will be released shortly & TON will be fine.

Not only french, though, but many other services would also like to get something out of it, as far as I know But, yeah, fud is only temporary.

Still i have good amount worth of TON coin but i wasn’t long term holder, i just traded a MEME coin in TON pair, And i just holding for temporary then suddenly i see telegram CEO is arrested and affected is TON decreased & others some popular MEME coins which developed in TON ecosystem. I am a bit confused what should i do now as like hold or sell to recover my losses.

Shouldn't matter that much at least in the long run, the CEO was arrested for having a messaging app that the government can't tap into so they're just malding about it lol. I don't even think it should go to court since no such law exists or ever would afaik since anonymity is part of freedom of speech, at least afaik.

And even then, instead of the arrest, I'd be more afraid if the CEO was changed since polices would then probably change. God knows whether Telegram would still be the decentralized app it is.

No, but I like the airdrops now that they're showing there because they're effortless and quite of a money. And you'll hear people say that the "potential" is there because of it.

Nope, while I can say that it can be sort of a good project in the future. I'm 0% worried about Durov's arrest.

I have to stick to the plan of selling anything that I have in the TON network, most of it that are coming from the possible airdrops in the near future.

Too much uncertainty with TON platform it's making me worried at some point, but if the price gets too low i'm ready to invest.

my reaction upon hearing the news was shorting it though, pretty late but make some profit regardless, but the market of TON is quite resistance against the dumping, there's just this one momentary fall off in the price and that's it, the dumping still continue but not as rampant as the first one.

the impact of the CEO's arrest is worrying, but I'm optimistic about it, and everything will work out, although the uncertainty of his absence from Telegram could be a question mark for the future.

This is what makes me feel worried. I meant that Telegram may change its policies and censor more. The government may have ordered them to comply with the regulation. This will kill freedom of speech on Telegram.

I too think that way. Telegram and TON are here to keep on living, so, using the price-offs given is a no-brainer in this situation.

Yeah, that's a scary thing, however, maybe there will be more price-offs for people interested, if the case goes south a bit

Well for investors I do think now is good time to stack some TON tokens. I do think it is only for a small time now we are seeing alot of our profits lose from this bad news.  And TON is still top 9 coin in coinmarketcap with $13.6 Billion
And price of TON tokens is now up in the last 7 days. We can not say this about any of the other coins in top 10 of the coinmarketcap. I do think the ceo will be just fine and if you buy TON now you will earn profits next 'bull run'.

        -      It does not mean that the founder of Telegram was arrested that I will stop investing in Ton; that is not always the case. Because Ton is actually independent. So even if that happened, other whale investors can probably use it as an opportunity to buy more.

And besides, the TON is starting to have a long way to go and it will reach. That's why, even if it's only a small amount, I'm saving it little by little, to be honest, because I see a big potential for it in the future.
