People vote for the lesser of the two evils because they do not know about voting protocols that allow us to actually vote for the best candidate without settling for the lesser of the two evils (I am talking about instant runoff ranked choice voting). Out of all people, the pope should not be the one supporting evil even if it is a lesser evil.

Ok, I went and verify on a quick search. Honestly I think religion and state should be clearly separated. However, I wonder if that is the approach they take during the Papal elections?? Do they say "choose the Pope that will be less of an evil"?

Let me put this into context: What would the Vatican say if the elected President of another country, and I mean elected by everyone of voting age would say during the Papal elections something to influence who would be the next Pope (who is elected only by the Curia)? Would that be gracefully accepted or would they call it interference?

I like Francis, seriously, best of the class, feet on the ground, but the Vatican is to all effects a foreign nation to all other countries and they have a backlog of immoral actions to be cleared before judging others.
