Hahaha that’s too much money to spend for changing one’s username on a online forum. You quoted a post from 2014, the price of 50bitcoins then and now are not the same. OP wouldn’t even consider such an expensive option. 

Yes it is from 2014 I tried to search and I ended up at donation page it seems they changed it and they are no longer accepting donations. So there's no hope of becoming a VIP member for changing the username. His last hope if theymos and cyrus will grant his request.

@OP why not register the Username that you want if your problem is the limitation you can buy the Copper membership to increase the limitation it is cheaper around 40k sats.

Perhaps this is probably the best idea OP can get. I thought of it too, instead of struggle too much for an account that you're probably going forgo some day and just focus on creating a new one  and surely @OP can afford copper member for lifting the limitations.

OP consider BitMaxz suggestion it's probably the best knowledge or idea you can get towards your want or least keep waiting for admins responses which is under probability if they would accept the proposal even if they get to see it.

I don't know if 50BTC is the fixed amount to become a VIP member maybe try asking theymos about it.

Condition to become a VIP member did not change. 50 BTC is the condition.

Some exceptions for people with very big contributions to the forum, without 50 BTC in donation, can be awarded a VIP badge.

I gave Hal a VIP tag even though he didn't donate because he is nearly as much of a Bitcoin legend as Satoshi IMO. He received the first-ever Bitcoin transaction, and he's been contributing to Bitcoin since before 0.1 was released.

MagicalTux got "free" VIP status for hosting the forum for a long time, too. I think that him plus Hal are the only free donator statuses I gave out. You'd have to do something pretty extraordinary to convince me to give out another free one.

I don't see any point in donating 5 BTC now and then 5 BTC later. You won't get Donator status until you've donated a total of at least 10 BTC. It'd be better for you to earn interest on the 5 BTC somewhere until you're ready to pay 10 BTC. The forum isn't in need of money.

Maybe they didn't donate 50 BTC but were gifted the VIP status because of their contribution to Bitcoin and the forum.

Right. I posted about this somewhere when I did it.

IIRC MagicalTux also got VIP without paying 50 BTC because he contributed significant resources in other ways.

That's another option to do if name change request has been denied. But he could still able to try to contact the administrator towards this request.

He cannot expect any fast response from them since provably it will take time for this request to get approve. But let see if OP could able to make this things happen since if he can change his name successfully then provably lots of people which have an issue might change their name. I believe its rare case that administrators allow this changes.

Although they grant certain individuals to change their names, but those guys are contributors of this forum and provably they look at the contribution done by those people.

AFAIK, theymos is active when it comes to PM and since you got a valid reason for this request of name changing that can be accepted or declined.

Until now you can't do anything at all, from time to time remind admin about your request apart from that you can't do anything. Or you can create a new account in the desired name for your company and can ask DT users to mark it as part of your official account that might work upto certain extent.
