Have or ever read or heard about anyone buying real estate with crypto (particularly Bitcoin)? If crypto is meant to be an alternative to Fiat, then we should have the ability to buy/sell property with it. I, for one, haven't heard of anyone doing this where I live. Perhaps, market volatility is what's holding realtors back? I mean, we already have stablecoins backed by real Fiat currencies, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Me neither. If I were to guess, it would be because not many real estate agencies accept crypto as payment. Yes there are centralized exchanges where you can send crypto from but maybe some agencies would prefer if the client pays through an account with his/her name and other details. Since real estate would require official documents with personal information, I doubt many would turn to use crypto.

The agencies would have to make crypto exchanges even if the client were to send stablecoins. So, they would probably prefer just fiat.

I think so. Crypto can be used in any kind of transactions. We just need more agencies to accept it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens soon since I am sure many companies would want to inclusive.

I do think that the regulations wouldn't allow it.
Buying with BTC directly wouldn't be registered anywhere, thus, it wouldn't be mainstreamed.

the question is, would a real estate agency want to accept payment in Bitcoin or would a buyer want to make payment using crypto when you consider the cases that always comes up with purchase of properties?

Depending on the real estate firms level of knowledge on crypto, that's what's going to be the determining factor that will guarantee that they will want to accept such payment medium or not. Most times, to complete the process of acquiring properties involved series of payment into the account of different agencies ranging from the owner of the properties to other agencies that might give certain validation that such a transaction has taken place. If the agencies accepts to take her payment in crypto, such kind of transaction can pull through if not, making any purchase iether through properties or whatever medium you're considering involves first that the person is into crypto and is comfortable with taking his payment in crypto. If it's in Bitcoin, volatility isn't really an issue and if they don't want to always convert the money they get from selling a property in fiat, it could also help to build the firms portfolio in the long run.

What if the real estate agency decides to accept BTC through a payment processor such as BitPay? The service automatically converts BTC to the Fiat currency of your choice, eliminating the risk of market volatility. I think it's much safer for the realtor to accept BTC this way than directly from the buyer. As far as I'm aware, BitPay strictly abides by the rules of KYC/AML. So there shouldn't be any problem with the regulators. There's also the option to pay with altcoins through BitPay if the buyer finds it convenient.

For some reason, realtors are skeptical of crypto. It's going to take quite some time before we'll be able to see crypto being used for real estate purchases. For now, we're stuck with Fiat. With crypto getting more popular each day, I'm certain we'll be able to use crypto to buy anything we want. That's the dream, right?

I think people are still hesitant because legality and complication that might arise, using BTC tx receipt in court as a proof if somehow conflict arises might still seem odd these days, and also the volatility also gate keep people from doing a deal that takes too much time to settle.

there needs to be a protocol that allows real estate buying with crypto on chain leveraging on smart contract that abide to the law and regulation but I think we're still too early for that.

moreover using something like bitpay just adding another layer of complexity that isn't really needed, the buyer can just convert their BTC to fiat in exchange and be done with it, essentially closing exposure to volatility.

I have seen some websites that play a role of middleman for the sellers of real estates and houses in payment of Bitcoin/crypto. I have no idea on how they went for it but I guess that there have been some purchases made in the past with crypto but they're not just publicized at all. One of the most known crypto purchase of real estate is with this; This man sold everything for bitcoin and is now on a campsite awaiting the boom

There is but, if it's about projects that are putting up their token sales and shares for real estate or REITs. I don't think that there's going to be a sense of it. Much better to stick to the use of Bitcoin and other top cryptos for such sales so that it won't discourage people from doing complete sales like this.

Great points on the legal side regarding use of Bitcoin in real estate. Government permitting its use as an investment but prohibiting it as a medium of exchange disallowed it to be used by industries such as the real estate sector. This, however strengthens the argument that bitcoin has potential but volatility and regulatory will prove to be barriers to wider adoption.

Stablecoins can be a good tool. That is because it will be an avenue to trade without the volatility of Bitcoin if regulations change to make crypto legal as a form of payment. Those are just some of the real estates that they associate with the crypto space, but that's why it doesn't seem to have been really successful. But if there is a real estate seller who accepts cryptocurrency payments, there probably is too, that's why such crypto enthusiasts are rare.

Yes I heard someone buying a house using crypto and its really amazing how the deal they end up so well. But the seller has a crypto background that's why there's no doubts came out on their minds to accept crypto on the deal they are going on.

Also if you could able to search this information regarding buy a house using crypto you could able to see that there's a lot of result suggestion on where or how you could able to do it. But for me, I will not use my bitcoin to buy a house since for me bitcoin is investment which could possibly generate more profit in future. If I want to buy a house for sure will just use my existing fiat since there's no something like doubt feeling to use it especially that the value of fiat seems to be always in stable state.

I am not yet read that advertisement before but I think that someone want to buy real estate with crypto. The problem is how their government reaction especially if crypto is not fully legal in their country. They should knows the legality of using crypto as a means of payment so they will not have a problem with their government.

Crypto have a good future to be additional payment besides using fiat. But that will depends on the government because we lives in their territory. If they allows the use of crypto as a means of payment, we can buy anything we want using crypto. When you do something new or anti mainstream, there's a chance what you do will going viral and most people will know it. This will influence bad guy to attack you or other people beg you for money.

Sometime back I read on different platforms about this with few agents and sellers ready to accept altcoins and bitcoins for selling their properties and other things but recently due to some changes in law things are getting problematic even in developed countries we can go through for this because we are having system and their policies are favourable to do this without any serious trouble.

As mentioned above few projects are working on these things to bring policies and have all required updates about accepting crypto and bitcoin for buying and selling properties and other related things hopefully we will be able to go through with this and also able to have good success because now it's time for change and bring better policies about crypto for common peoples.

I do think that crypto, as an emerging industry with just over a decade in operation, has a lot to offer in all ramifications. This isn't going to be limited to real estate but diversified into all works of life, in as much as man interacts with it and acknowledges its usefulness. Whatever that can be done with fiat, can also by done with cryptos. The only issue in there is government legislation limiting its use and usefulness. Hopefully, all that will clear up within a short time so that more interest builds up for the use of cryptos.

Never heard of anyone buying property with bitcoin, but there is a term people buy property from the profits of bitcoin, so what I know is “they sell bitcoin convert fiat then buy property”, like that.

Now buying property is still difficult using bitcoin because of regulatory issues that in some countries it is not a legal tender, so you will face the law if you do it.

And some agents also rarely offer to buy with bitcoin or other cryptos, so it's hard for us to know if someone is doing it. I don't know and I've never actually seen it.

hahah true I mean if people like me and you would probably go fine if one of us just bought someone home or car through crypto but the problem is always with regulation. Here in Indonesia you can freely have bitcoin or other form of cryptocurrency but you can't buy anything with crypto and act as commodities
