The price was never really $1200 because it only existed on MtGox. At the time, the price was around $1000 everywhere else. I think the only people buying at those inflated prices on MtGox were people desperate to get their funds off the exchange since fiat was restricted.

This might be the right time to buys some bitcoins
On the other hand the way prices are drowning this might even go down
No one knows whats coming tomorrow
Now is clearly a much better time to buy than when the price was $1,200 Holding is not a profitable strategy. Selling at 1,200, then buying at 450...now there's a good outcome. ..you end up with nearly three times as many bitcoins! On the other hand, most people, and I mean more than 90% of the members, would have more btc now if they just bought and hold than what they did The early adopters that had huge stacks at the end of 2013 and were in a position to make a huge profit were those who were extremely strong believers of Bitcoin and never sold in the previous spike up in price and those who forgot about their bitcoins; of course if you have a successful Bitcoin business or if you were a successful trader or person who had informations you could have increase your btc holdings tremendously but for the vast majority buying&holding has the most ev Holding always work; you buy and you hold : it's easy and you will probably have the most profit
EDIT 460$!
How can you say that after four months of declines that have reduced the price of a BTC from $1,200 to about $450? I am saying that it is a good strategy to buy and hold for long term instead of playing trends and playing the markets if you are not a trader, you are more likely to sell low and buy high than the opposite

And the people selling at 1200$ on gox probably didn't get their fiat..

http://fiatleak.com/Chinese have found out about this news and they're currently buying BTC in droves before the price goes back up. Fiatleak.com is an illusion. They have no info about how much fiat is flowing into any exchange. They're just showing transactions within an exchange. Could be new money, but probably is the same money trading back and forth.

Btc went from less than 50 to 250 then slowly went to 70 over 3. Weeks it shot yo 1100 then slowly declined to below half of that... now " I wonder whsts next" previous patterns indicate a huge recovery even a record high

No, I will not disclose my real name on the Internet. The very simple reason I’m anonymous is so that I can talk freely about a free web. One mistake people often make is having the faulty assumption that knowing my real name or my association with a respected person, group or organization might get them to trust me more. In fact, I have no authority here. Elastic Project is a loosely associated group of developers which constantly changes over time. If you prefer projects with a more centralized structure, then please move on. Specifically, I kindly ask you to refrain from any messages that try to convince me of the contrary. My time is too valuable to be wasted with the same discussion again and again.

If the bitcoin will be banned from Central Bank of China I bet that for a few time will go under 400$...

It went to the equivalent of $1245 USD in China (CNY/USD as of 30-NOV-13 being ~0.164).
