Most gamblers don't like submitting KYC because of many reasons. I don't blame them because personal data shouldn't be exposed to avoid invasion of privacy and other negative activities. But I read a story in the news that portrays the importance of KYC.

A girl was kidnapped and later murdered by her friend. The murderer contacted the girl's mother and asked for ransom. He requested that the funds be paid into his online betting account to avoid a trace. The mother paid some money into the account and was hoping that her daughter would be released.

When this murderer went to withdraw the money from his betting account, the gambling firm asked for more KYC which included the National Identification Number. Out of desperation and ignorance, the criminal uploaded the information.

Quote
Adeleye’s capture came through tracing his SportyBet account, where he had uploaded his National Identification Number.

Using the document he submitted, law enforcement agents were able to track him and he was finally arrested. His arrest was made easy because of a KYC request from the gambling platform.

Very bad. He killed the girl and still collected ransom. Very bad. I am reading similar news recently. It is good that he has been arrested. He needs not more than one judgement which is death.

If it is gambling site, I am not bothered of KYC. The small amount of money that I am using to gamble do not let me bother. My fear is in exchanges and not gambling.

Well yeah this KYC I guess has helped in capturing this suspect. Such a crazy guy, their family are friends I think Adeleye liked her but refused his advances so he choked the girl. Just my theory. He didn't even consider that she could have told anyone she was going to his house for her phone to be repaired.

One common reason why they don't like reviewing their KYC is because they prefer to remain anonymous and maintain privacy.

Submitting KYC documents, we review most details that the gamblers consider confidential. Some do it for security reasons.

Some also see it as time-consuming; time for submitting KYC can delay the withdrawal process, which can be very frustrating for most of us looking for winning quickly.

Op, it's just some inconvenience because it's a total trance to your personal life.

While all a gambler need at this point is the fund not an interview of documentary.

The exposure came through the kyc and you know to me and not against any kyc since it's something required by casino or gambling site. For our noticed we should be prepared and ready to pass our kyc whenever we feels ready to gamble because we can't be ready to gamble and refuses to pass kyc, of course if this kyc as an additional method of requirements is not requested there wouldn't had been a day when this site would know that the real account owner has been murdered and this show up due to the unusual deposit made on her account and doesn't correlates with the previous documents that was initially submitted to the site.

One thing about gambling site is that when a huge amount is being deposited and you want to withdraw from the account back they would asked for additional verification because right from registration such funds has never been deposited before and they must request for it.

this time I see a positive impact of KYC in gambling platforms, the casino helps the police to track only with KYC, the man must be punished very severely

but still most people will avoid casino sites that force users to provide personal data, but it would be better for large transaction amounts to be subject to KYC by the casino and the rules must be transparent.

what a tragedy, I feel bad for the mother who lost her child because someone wanted money, I can't imagine the pain the mother is going through. kudos to the casino for quickly coordinating with the police to track the murderer down.

anyway, I am curious, I always thought that Sportybet needs KYC verification upon registration, do they allow people to create an account on their casino and withdraw without any KYC? I am asking because the murderer thought that he wouldn't be tracked.

According to what was posted in the topic, that was what that happened.

Submitting KYC documents, we review most details that the gamblers consider confidential. Some do it for security reasons.
I agree with this. But if having higher amount of coins, the person can first make use of mixer to mix the coin, send it to another noncustodial wallet before sending it to a gambling site address. But if the person is using high amount of money to gamble, such person will not like KYC.

Some also see it as time-consuming; time for submitting KYC can delay the withdrawal process, which can be very frustrating for most of us looking for winning quickly.
I do not agree with this. Once you have done the KYC and it is accepted by the gambling site as successful, no verification needed again.

What kind of tragedies we are living nowadays, the world has gone mad with many conflicts and ongoing wars, this shows that history has taught us nothing, we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again and I remember that famous saying, doing the same over and over again and expecting different results is called insanity. This criminal should be hanged in the middle of city where he committed murder and that is why in some cases capital punishment is a needed bad, this guy cannot live in prison by the taxpayers and eat food like it is something normal. He should be killed, killing an innocent person and asking for ransom has no excuse, even worse asking for ransom after killing her, the KYC in this case was a great help to the justice as it made possible to capture this criminal, one of the worse kind of criminals.

A very sad situation for the family which had been affected on which their daughter killed because of some psycho which is really that addicted to gambling on which its pretty obvious
that he do have some gambling problems and who do heck will really be trying out to ask some ransom and transferred it out into a gambling account on which its pretty obvious that
this is really something that make himself that trap but well it is really just that right that this guy is dumb enough and he should really be rotten in prison on what he had done.
Yes, these are the advantage if we do speak about KYC and once there would really be problems such as this then it will really be a huge help on tracing up to those criminals.

I cant just believe that he had put up himself on trap or simply cant think off well because of too much gambling addiction i suppose.
It is really just that good that he had been caught or else this one would really be having no justice if this criminal cant really be traced. Its good that
he had put up himself into such trap.

On the moment that they would really be caught up on how gambling platforms being used on which its not really just that a gateway for laundered money but also into this kind of stuff on which used for ransoming or having those deposits that come up from scams or whatever correlated to this one then it will really be a tough thing for them to have such passthrough specially now that there are laws or simply those regulations being applied on which on the time that those deposits had been held up then expect that there would really be such KYC asking verification on which this will really be
that making themselves get caught if they are really that have done something stupid or simply those criminal acts.

This is another success story from the KYC demand requirement, although sad thing is that he killed the victim but then now he is caught, he must be stupid enough because in his mind investigators won't go that far to tracing his spotybet account, to enable this that is why most countries demand for licensing in all financial services providers, at least this is commendable and a plus for KYC.

I watch the news and when I saw the guy, he look so stupid and innocent at the same time, but the evil in his heart is far bigger than him, how can someone use a centralised gambling platform to conceal illegal money even though at the point of paying the money his real name will appear on the payment page which is the first step to exposing himself.

Indeed, for this kind of issue, we really need to thank the casino for requesting such KYC, and it has helped the authorities capture the killer, as it could have been a little difficult to do that.

Very bad. He killed the girl and still collected ransom. Very bad. I am reading similar news recently. It is good that he has been arrested. He needs not more than one judgement which is death.

According to the story and how the boy confessed, it was said that he even murthered the girl even before the ransom was requested, and that's not the first time the guy did such a thing, so why does he ask for ransom when he has already killed the person? That's the question that I keep on asking.

Some also see it as time-consuming; time for submitting KYC can delay the withdrawal process, which can be very frustrating for most of us looking for winning quickly.

This is not the case now, before when you submit KYc with mostly exchanges you get to stay a bit long to get your verification done but even them do not take more than a day again to validate your KYC, your registration name and details just need to tally with each other and you get verified easily so it is not that complicated anymore.

Before KYC became a thing, some criminals have used the casinos to do their dirty bidding; KYC has made it all difficult, and some criminals are still not aware of it.

As news of how KYC helped in the apprehension of a criminal who tried using casino services for illegal use has come out, the news will spread,  and more criminals will become aware that Casino's and gambling platforms are tightening up their security, and it will start becoming a no-go area for criminals when they are looking for how to get their money without giving away their identity.

Casinos were the easiest way to even get money moved in two different currencies and this was main reason why fraudulent transactions go through them but I tell you this the casinos didn’t care, most of these casinos or platforms actually did added KYC just because of the government regulations and nothing more, KYC has its own advantages and this is on of them, but even without the money going to the betting platform they will get through it through banks too

If I was the agent on the gambling site's support having to cooperate with police after receiving such request I'd be crazy stressed. But nevertheless congrats on the site's administration that pulled this through. I would imagine there would have to be some very good cooperation between them and police to not blow their operation's cover while the assailant was thinking they would be getting their funds.

Surely I hope more sites would utilize such methods in being honest when needed to protect the human.

It fills my heart with sadness to hear that story. We live in a wild society these days, evil lives in front of us, among us, and we don't realize it sometimes until something horrible happens because of them. The world is not a place anymore for innocent and good people, they deserve a better place.

Anyway, talking about KYC and its importance, I must say that KYC is important, for sure, and it's not only for incidents like these but anything that could happen. I don't think one should have a problem completing their KYC in a platform that is trusted unless they are involved in things that they want to hide like the guy in this incident. If you know you are not doing anything bad or wrong, you shouldn't be afraid to identify yourself because no one would do anything.

Privacy and anonymity are good, but when it's not possible, you should just comply with the rules and regulations.

That's actually the purpose of KYC. To know who are their customers.

And on this case, that helped in finding out where the money was sent and then figured it out it's from that casino. I still don't like KYC but with this story, I'll spare that moment.

Sorry about what happened to the girl and I don't know the whole story but this criminal is crazy at its finest. What in the world that these people think about easily taking the lives of the others?

As if they don't have a family.  Undecided

And that's pretty much why even if I was so damn frustrated with KYC I still do it. I know damn well how much information can become power after all. Now if they just made KYC instantaneous (or even at least just a couple hours long) I'd probably have less frustrations lol.

I'm also guessing the mother filed a report to watch out for accounts in that casino? Otherwise, the police tracked him way too fast. Props to her for being level-minded and doing so.
this time I see a positive impact of KYC in gambling platforms, the casino helps the police to track only with KYC, the man must be punished very severely

but still most people will avoid casino sites that force users to provide personal data, but it would be better for large transaction amounts to be subject to KYC by the casino and the rules must be transparent.
That was the purpose of KYC anyway. It was always for AML and rightfully so because casinos can be an easy way for people to be the middleman for those kinds of transactions without them knowing about it. I mean just imagine how dangerous it would've been if criminals had methods to transfer money in and out of a country that easily. In this case I don't think it was AML exactly, but eh, kind of close.

Wow this might literally be the dumbest person I've seen in a long time.  Hey add money to my personal account with all my details associated with it.  Was it crypto or was this fiat?  If crypto even dumber.  Why wouldn't they have just asked to send it to a random address ypu hold then put it into an account.  Habe to look more into this.  What a dummy
