Having 450K followers looks like a very solid "social proof" and "social proof" is everything in online marketing. It doesn't matter whether the followers are fake or real. The new customers of this product/service would probably believe that the product/service is popular and well established. If the product, the buyers will come(sooner or later).
I still wonder how a crappy play-to-earn game like Hamster Kombat gathered tens of millions of social media followers and active players.
