I created a nicehash account many years ago and did some mining and stopped before they got got hacked and now have a few hundred bucks worth in coin but in the near decade that i have had the nicehash account i have been unable to create a wallet to make transfer and i have looked through lots of tutorials and they are all a bit different from each other compared to the wallet create process.
My question is why did they in the past and still continue to make it so difficult to create a wallet..it really should be simple that's the smart way with clear instructions.

And evolving technology.
What's the essence of been able to create wallets easily if they are going to be filled with holes.
Yes the tutorials are different because there are different wallets types and experience.
Besides there are no set standards in creating a wallet
If you still facing a roadblock despite such time, I think you not fully set in creating a wallet.
Start from the basics rather than starting PRO.

Are you trying to create a wallet in order to transfer your funds, or you are creating a wallet to launch for public use. I am asking this question because your profile is that of a newbie. You can just mean downloading and setting up a wallet here or writing a code from scratch to build a crypto wallet.
If the later is the case, you can think of collaborating with other programmers and get the job down.

If I understand your question correctly you just want to create a Bitcoin wallet and feeling it's impossible to create one. It's very simple, you can able to do that in less than two minutes.

1. Go to https://electrum.org/ in the device you want to install your wallet.
2. Download wallet file from https://electrum.org/#download.
3. Install the wallet file.
4. Open the installed application.
5. Enter a name for your wallet ( can be anything).
6. Select Standard wallet and click next.
7. Select Create new Seed. and click next.
8. Write down the 12 words seed that shown on the screen on a piece of paper.
9. Confirm the seed by typing the 12 words seed you wrote.

And that's it you successfully created a new wallet.

You can go to the address tab and you can see set of default generated addresses and you can create more as much as you want.

Huh?

It is very easy to make a wallet using different software and apps. Just search for some on the Play Store for example (but don't do this - Use the list of reputable wallets from Bitcoin.org).

Are you perhaps referring to the fact that Nicehash made its own wallets difficult for you to create on-site?

i have been unable to create a wallet to make transfer and i have looked through lots of tutorials and they are all a bit different from each other compared to the wallet create process.

It's normal to see different people create slightly different tutorial for same wallet software. In addition, there are other factor such as version of the wallet software and which device they use.

My question is why did they in the past and still continue to make it so difficult to create a wallet..it really should be simple that's the smart way with clear instructions.

It shouldn't be that hard. If you're unsure, just follow explanation or tutorial created by people/company who also create the wallet software.

If I am not wrong users are mandated to complete KYC but it's kind of confusing though cause they have different KYC for different services and I read that KYC is not necessary for old user who used the platform for mining purposes only so did you contact the support team?

Anyway you need to add the address before you withdraw if you're withdrawing to that address for the first time. Once you have added the address then please follow these steps

Quote
Navigate to your Wallet and click the Withdraw button.
Select BTC wallet in the “Withdraw from” field.
Select the withdrawal address or add a new one. You must use Latin characters without any special characters for the wallet's name.
Enter the amount of BTC you wish to withdraw.
Click the Review withdraw button.
A confirmation screen will pop up. Click Withdraw to complete the withdrawal process.

Currently your Bitcoins (or fractions of it) are in a custodial Nicehash wallet that is assigned to your Nicehash account.

You want to sell your Nicehash coins by transfering them to some other exchange where you have an account and another likely custodial wallet.

I don't use Coinbase and if and how you can get your sold funds finally to your PayPal account. This is up to you to figure it out.

Nicehash wants to know a withdrawal address that you control/own to send your coins to (best would be your own non-custodial wallet like suggested Electrum wallet or similar). I will keep it brief, but you can ask further questions if you can't find answers.

  • Download Electrum from https://electrum.org
  • Verify your download it's genuine and untampered. (There's a thread in Electrum board, I'm confident you'll find it yourself.)
  • Install Electrum and create a wallet (backup your mnemonic recovery words safely on paper, never on an online device).
  • Get a receive address from your Electrum wallet that you setup as withdrawal address/wallet in your Nicehash account (wallet is wrong here, but if Nicehash is so stupid to use that term...).
  • Initiate the withdrawal from Nicehash. (I think Nicehash also has help pages or tutorials or even Youtube videos for this task.)
  • When the transfer is sufficiently confirmed your Bitcoins from Nicehash should be visible in your Electrum wallet.
  • If you want to sell your coins on Coinbase, you need to send your coins to your receipt address in your Coinbase account. The details for this are beyond my scope. Pay attention to use a reasonable transfer fee for your sending transaction (you can have a look at https://mempool.space for current reasonable transfer fee required).

Thank you Findingnemo and Cricktor and i do understand your'e advise and this will take me a while to figure out also with nicehash after i login into the dash board it's wants me to activate 2-Factor Authentication and i guess without doing that i wouldn't have permission to make a transfer from nicehash anyway? I have attempted to enable 2-Factor Authentication with nicehash but during the enable process it ask for me to "insert your security key into the usb port" i believe to make a key? and i haven't done that is that a normal thing to do to enable 2-Factor Authentication?
Also nicehash have no direct contact support.

Yes, I know, Nicehash insists to setup 2FA to further secure your account and to protect critical setup steps with 2FA further. Whereever 2FA is offered to protect important accounts or where value can be lost, I do it. It's a good feature.

Usually for 2FA you use an app on your mobile, like Google Authenticator or FreeOTP, that generates in most cases a six-digit number every 30 seconds. You likely have chosen the wrong 2FA style/device in Nicehash. I assume you don't have a physical hardware OTP device, like Yubikey, Nitrokey or similar to insert into an USB port of your computer.

To setup OTP with an authenticator app like FreeOTP, you tell Nicehash you want OTP with an authenticator app. Then Nicehash will show you a QR code which you need to scan with an OTP authenticator app (you need to install such an app prior; those apps have usually some add account button like a + sign, when you click on it, they ask for permission to use your camera and then you scan the displayed QR code for 2FA OTP setup).

You likely have chosen the wrong 2FA style/device in Nicehash. I assume you don't have a physical hardware OTP device, like Yubikey, Nitrokey or similar to insert into an USB port of your computer.
Is it possible to enable it without having the required device? Since OP said his account was hacked, I think the hacker enabled this configuration. By its purpose, the Yubikey OTP Device is indeed one that authorizes 2fa changes only by the "legitimate" owner (unless it was enabled by someone else first).

Is it possible to enable it without having the required device? Since OP said his account was hacked, I think the hacker enabled this configuration.
I think OP is talking about the "2017 Nicehash hack incident", reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NiceHash
I can't find a reply indicating that his account was hacked before.

-snip- also with nicehash after i login into the dash board it's wants me to activate 2-Factor Authentication and i guess without doing that i wouldn't have permission to make a transfer from nicehash anyway?
In the dashboard or during the email confirmation code window?

Because AFAIK, those aren't mandatory and just recommended and not setting those shouldn't affect your bitcoin withdrawals.
And based from your description, you tried to enable "Yubikey" which is a physical OTP device, it'll be weird if Nicehash forces its users to buy it just to withdraw.

It is not mandatory for withdrawal request.

How to setup 2FA security?
How to add OTP device?
How to make a Bitcoin deposit and withdrawal?

From Nicehash official guides, Yubikey is one of options for account security setting and it is not mandatory for 2FA setting or withdrawal.

sorry how i have quoted this but normally my quotes high light.

[/quote]Yes, I know, Nicehash insists to setup 2FA to further secure your account and to protect critical setup steps with 2FA further.

I have attempted to set up 2FA with windows & chrome and haven't tried through a mobile app i will try that.

[/quote]I think OP is talking about the "2017 Nicehash hack incident.
yes correct.

[/quote]In the dashboard or during the [/quote]In the dashboard or during the email confirmation code window?
i do get asked at both during the email confirmation code window and at the dashboard page and it just states and quote "Your account does not have 2FA protection enabled yet. Enable it now to prevent unauthorized access and secure your funds."

[/quote]Because AFAIK, those aren't mandatory and just recommended and not setting those shouldn't affect your bitcoin withdrawals.
i thought that was the case as well but unsure if 2FA needs to be enabled.

As the message shown to you by Nicehash says; it's only suggested to you to protect your account in case your password is hacked.
Since you don't plan to use Nicehash anymore,
You can disregard the message if you just want to withdraw your bitcoins to your Exchange's deposit address to sell. (e.g. your Coinbase's deposit address)

sorry how i have quoted this but normally my quotes high light.
Just check if each of the [quote] tag has a pair [/quote] tag which encloses every texts between them as the "high light" (quoted) message.
You can still edit your post to fix it if you want to try.

Your question is so confusing, are you still waiting for Nicehash to create a Bitcoin wallet so that you can move your BTC from Nicehash to the wallet? If you have some Bitcoin on Nicehash to go Electrum.org and download the Bitcoin wallet then withdraw from Nicehash into the wallet.

Keep the recovery seed safe somewhere offline, this days no crypto wallet is safe online, not even ordinary screenshot of your seed will keep you safe, someone somehow will find your key and move your Bitcoin out from your wallet.

Nicehash was hacked many years ago, I was also a user then but many months later they started paying up, I got all my hacked or stolen Bitcoin back from the team, they managed to keep their reputation safe, if you are one of the victims your BTC will still be on the platform.

i have used other forums when just dragging the cursor over text to high light to quote and then a drop down menu with a quote option is available but this layout is a bit different.

[/quote]Your question is so confusing,
true, and i did start this thread about making a wallet and then questioned about enabling 2FA i will try the mobile nicehash app and maybe it will work.

thank you for the help.

I don't know what your problem is with putting quotes properly. Don't you see that the way you quote others is wrong and doesn't yield correct output?

To put a quote from your last sentence like

thank you for the help.

I have this in my post:
[quote author=Really A Genius link=topic=5510294.msg64582297#msg64582297 date=1727585449]
thank you for the help.
[/quote]

Why do you repeatedly omit or delete the important part of [quote author=<who is quoted> link=topic=<source of quote> date=<when>] when you quote someone? See the difference, it's no rocket science...
