Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my experience with a fake cryptocurrency exchange on Telegram. It's a cautionary tale, and I completely understand if you think I was foolish. English isn't my first language, but I'll do my best to explain.

While browsing a Telegram group called "Crypto arbitrage," I saw an ad for an arbitrage opportunity in another group. It seemed promising, so I clicked it.

Long story short, I ended up on the fake exchange site ("waddex.com") and created an account. The initial arbitrage trades looked profitable, but when I tried to withdraw my funds, they wouldn't let me. The excuse? A "10,000 USD payment test" for account verification. Needless to say, I lost $20,000 USDT.

Looking back, I feel like an idiot. I'm usually very cautious online, double-checking everything. They somehow caught me off guard. Lesson learned: triple-check!

I'd like to warn you about dexgy.com. It's an exact replica of waddex.com, which is known to be a scam. The logo, graphics and even the LTC arbitrage offers are identical. As with waddex.com, initial operations appear lucrative, but withdrawals are impossible. Don't be fooled! Report this site to protect others.

Sorry for your loss, a little search online could have saved you from this because they already have two reviews on TrustPilot and both of them were bad reviews, reading that would have made you more suspicious of the site and more cautious.

As for the other one you mentioned I did a little search and it turned out that there are many other sites with the same exact template.

Code:

https://bitruen.com/
http://coinzone.me/
https://toxym.com/
Biteqs.org
Bitfuse.io

My search also led me to a YouTube channel that’s dedicated to different sites that has this same templates - so it’s safe to say that they were all created to scam people.

Here’s the channel name

In the case of waddex.com, one look is enough to recognize a scam. Pretty naive if you trusted them with $20k

Otherwise, if you have all the evidence, at least collect as much as you can. I advise you to contact the police or whoever is already in charge of cybercrime in your country. Telegram has recently changed its rules and will be happy to cooperate with the authorities in case of justified suspicion when it comes to scams. There are solid chances that fraudsters will even be caught.

I'm sorry for your loss. These scammers are people without feelings, they are people without character. For them, stealing people's money is something that makes them geniuses. They feel powerful because they can manipulate and steal whenever they want. The worst part is that they know that on the Internet, the chances of ever being caught are very small. Governments only go after sites that move a lot of money, so a site like this that deceives and steals amounts of less than 5 million dollars, for example, will hardly get the attention of governments. Because governments look at the human and financial resources that could be spent on some investigation.

about this:

Looking back, I feel like an idiot. I'm usually very cautious online, double-checking everything. They somehow caught me off guard. Lesson learned: triple-check!

It's strange that you haven't seen these scam accusations against this site

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.waddex.com

You should not put a lot of money on sites that you are using for the first time. Always put a little money, then try to withdraw it and, over many months, increase the amount you put on the site. Of course, before making any deposit, you should do a lot of research on the site.

you are the second one that posted here in the forum saying that they have been scammed by waddex.com, the other guy that has posted here says that he was scammed by waddex out of his $10k.

Looking back, I feel like an idiot. I'm usually very cautious online, double-checking everything. They somehow caught me off guard. Lesson learned: triple-check!
as you said, "I saw an ad for an arbitrage opportunity in another group. It seemed promising". that probably explains why they caught you off guard.

If you are planning on trading again in the future, you should try asking around here first before depositing or doing anything on a website that you are not very familiar with.

here's the thread of the other guy btw Scammed by Waddex.com. both of you have the same title.

Sorry for the loss of your funds. It's quite an amount.

Telegram is the last place you want to search for any crypto trading opportunities. Always use a forum with so many knowledgeable members like this one to ask questions about a certain service if you are not sure. All the advice is free and no member will ask you any payment in exchange for any answer. I hope you learned your lesson and will be more careful next time.

I feel so sorry for you, it just happened the same to me about two weeks ago, they requested me a 5000 USDT deposit to "unlock the withdraw", you can read my story here Scammed by Waddex.com
It sucks, in the end I lost 10k USDT on that very site, I still feel the loss but I am turning the page and looking forward, so I hope you'll do the same.

I'd like to warn you about dexgy.com. It's an exact replica of waddex.com, which is known to be a scam. The logo, graphics and even the LTC arbitrage offers are identical. Those sons of a b**** have a lot of sites like that: waddex.com, dexgy.com, foxbase.com, etc. If you search "crypto arbitrage" on youtube it shows you a lot of scam sites like that, the ones that you have to avoid! It surprises me because there are a lot of youtubers, I mean real people, promoting those scam sites... I mean, how can they do that? It's shameful!

Anyway, I hope you the best, just trying to learn the lesson, look foward in your life and just be very careful with your next decisions about your crypto assets (or your money in general)!

Thank you for sharing your experience here to warn people about these scam sites and sorry for your loss.

Despite many warnings, many people still fall victim to such scam sites. Honestly, I find it very difficult to believe that someone is being scammed out of $2000 or $5000 on Telegram, not that I don’t believe your story but I don’t believe how naive people are to trust a casino on Telegram.

Such scam sites are very common especially on Telegram, the problem is that you can’t do anything because these sites are illegal and unlicensed so you can’t file any complaint.

I guess there could be some real people doing the vlogging. Though from my experience, most of these videos were generated through deep fake technology. These scammers have also been using popular public figures to reel in victims-- for instance, elon musk has been used gazillion times lol.

Good luck to you and op's path to recovery, btw. All the best!

It happens imo. Some people can be naive at times hence why scammers don't necessarily need to be elaborate at their schemes, they just need to find the right people. Also the reason why some old school blatant scams are still as rampant as ever in our time and will probably be in the near future as well.

Sadly, this still happens and will continue to happen. It's the very reason such scammers are so many and the scams still rampant, because, the scam tactic or method is still very profitable to them. Some people are fooled into this scam due to greed and the need to get rich quick or over night.

It's all similar to how some people still fall for and invest in Ponzi schemes. When you even try to warn some of them, they will say how you are the enemy of progress.
