Whether in the forum here or any other places reading is very important and is not even something anyone would want people to remind them of, however in terms of my understanding about the picture displayed above there is no amount of money that's kept somewhere here that the person who has more of reading will be able to win  a certain large amount of money, so actually this picture is more like those in a quest or a game that was brought in different form with an award in it and anybody that finds it will win the the game and in most cases the award is kept were people will hardly expect it to be and they no that nobody would like to go through the stress of reading but the woman was very lucky, so is actually important to read not even because of anything you stand to win but it will certainly guid you to the right part.

I beg to take a different stance on this, and that is to the fact that there's a difference between reading and studying, reading wouldn't get you much as studying would, well in the case of the man that won the price, may be just reading did but there's also some sort of studying in that of which if he hadn't done that I think he wouldn't have understood to the point of knowing he's supposed to make an email to be considered the winner.

As for this forum, to get the best of this forum, all you have got to do is to making sure you are not just reading but studying because anything short of that could make you remain stagnant such that you will not be growing enough to make reasonable contributions but for one who has studied, he will still be able to make good contributions off the things he had studied and . make reasonable contributions but just reading wouldn't get you there.

OP thanks for this tread, I find it necessary because it serve as a wakeup call for reading culture which we lack in our society today.  Many things are going wrong in our society today because we entrust public office with people that doesn't read. Reading build good leadership.   Like the wise say if you want to hide a thing from an African man hide it in a book.  This implies that we don't take Reading seriously here. I commend the Georgia teacher this her habit is a strong message to the world.and a lot of people will now read every documents or agreement before signing them.

Of course reading is very necessary for us because anybody that normally love reading before he or she joined this Bitcointalk forum will going to find it very easy to navigate, while because everything about this Bitcointalk forum is just all about reading and making contributions. In as much as you're trying to make sense, I see no difference between a reader and one who studies. Study is mostly applicable to students or anyone trying to learn and practicalize an idea or whatever. Moreover, you can not study if you're not a good reader. The fact remains that majority of us want to study but we are not interested to read and that's the foundation of being a good student.

Take a look at this forum for instance, on a daily basis people come here with the intention of learning but failed to read the appropriate materials or threads. If we are readers, we would have discovered that what we seek to know is rightly on our palms facing us and we will gladly study it. As for the woman in the story, if she wasn't a reader in the first place, she wouldn't have gotten to that page talk more of studying the rules and send a mail. It actually pays to read.

If you read Terms of Service, it is because it is important for you, privacy, account security and fund security, and you want to read it to make sure you understand ToS enough, to avoid faults that break ToS and cause big issues for your account, and more important, your money.

I don't really see reading ToS or any lengthy documents because it's a contest, or worse, a hidden contest, to try finding a hidden lottery ticket and win big award. It wastes my time and most of time, you will not luckily read ToS or document of a hidden contest with good award.

Reading is an important habit that must not be joked with. Even in this forum, everything revolves around reading and anyone that does not love reading will find it very difficult to cope. I know there is a sharp drop in reading culture in most countries especially in Africa but that does not remove the fact that technological advancements have also encourage reading in some ways especially with social media monetization and blogging making waves in some developing economies. I have attended some seminars on copywriting and other digital businesses that involves reading and writing, so reading is indeed a very high paying habit.

That's interesting. It's the first time I am seeing something like this. Good to know there are such hidden contests.
Literally nobody cares to read the terms and conditions and I wonder if there are such hidden contests in those terms.
The teacher who read the policy definitely deserves the reward because she did not just read the policy but carefully read and found out the contest.

That story, just like what is happening in this forum because some of the things we are discussing here are what we have study to communicate to each other, and it has impacted many members to improve in quality Post because members create time in their reading and research. Even though money is not involve whatever you are reading, it will boost your knowledge  in the future, for others people to see potential ideas from you because what you are reading may be the question they will throw to you to win millions in a competition which you have what it takes to answer the question correctly to win the money.

I would also separate the love of reading and attentiveness. The fact that this woman was attentive does not position her as a lover of reading. Of course, the mere statement that she is a teacher gives an indisputable answer that she should read everything from cover to cover.

is that the case? So what you're saying in essence is that for me to have understood what the OP said or your opinion on what he said, I have to first study to know it, right? That's quite interesting. Truth is, Wether you call it reading or studying, the main point still remains that a lot of people don't care to read details contained in a text and that's why they left that reward in Thier because it's certain they won't read to that point where the reward is contained.

In a world where people like to use the fastest means possible in achieving thier aims, the place of reading is very important and it's great to know that the forum also encourages members to read a lot more than usual. I can remember vividly what happens during the April fool when reading more entails an addition to your merit and posting deducts from it. Though it's a playful thing but in it own way, it also encourages one to pay attention to reading and getting details contained in a piece. The one that people have fallen victim of is the refusal to read the terms of conditions contained In a package you're subscribing to and also the refusal to read clauses that are attached to loans people take.  They will intentionally reduce the font size of the terms and condition and make it very lengthy so you wouldn't have the patient of reading it and then you go on to accept it unplanned. You make a very good point here but that does not still dismiss the fact that reading is important. What I understand from your stance is that, reading to understand can be termed “studying” which is more important than just reading a page without getting to understand and relate to the information it is passing. The reader would never have thought he would see something like that on the book and for taken his time to read and understand the message passed their won him that gift. Reading is important and reading to understand is more important as if you don’t follow it up with that apprehension and understanding, it becomes meaningless.

Yes, it's true that having a reading habits is crucial for personal development, not only on this forum, but a broader understanding of the general world at large, of which I'm happy this teacher was lucky to have won the $10,000 as a reward for continuing reading to the 7th page where he saw the entry to this $10,000 contest. And as such, it's obvious this is also applicable to the bitcointalk forum, because just as the man was able to be consistent, focus and dedicated to continue reading his travel insurance policy up to the 7th page and got lucky, if only newbies can be consistent, focus and dedicated to their forum growth. This is just something that we should take into our heat seriously even if the instances given by OP were based on luck and not completely the importance of reading. There are several benefits of reading and I am a beneficiary. When I started investing in Bitcoin newly. I search for some resources online. How to store my coins and protect them I was just reading about the basics of that but most time I do see Dust. I dont pay attention to that at times but one day i tend to read about the dust attack. I read it since but a faithful day came when I was attacked by these scammers using dust attack. Because of my knowledge, I was able to save my asset and that of my friend. I think we humans are the ones who made things look like we're in a fast world, like you said we're too much in a haste to get things done which is not cool but everyone just have to play along. Reading of long text is some how boring to many people even I myself, I find it very tiring to read more than 3 lines, and I believe we have so many members in the Forum that doesn't even read terms and conditions, we only run straight to the "I agree" section and click on it. I don't know if we can use how busy we are to justify that action or not.
In as much as we see ourselves as the very busy ones and we want to meet up whatsoever engagement of the day I still think we should always give out time to read whatever we have in front of us so we won't miss out on any opportunity that might come our way, after all no knowledge is a waste, reading is indeed necessary.
