Notification to proceed after you click on ignore

I have seen many people complaining that they are mistakenly putting people on ignore. Why no notification to proceed after ignore is clicked on?

It will be good if we have such notification for ignore.

I don’t think it’s necessary. You can’t see the posts of users on your ignore list, but you can still see that they’ve posted in the thread, right? So why not keep it simple--a quick "ignore" and "unignore" option with just a click would make it more user-friendly. No need to overcomplicate it!

If I mistakenly putting people on ignore, I would click Unignore when I read some thread where the users I don't want to hide post in that thread. Because the forum still show the username, if the forum completely remove the username, then it's important to have notification because it's to make sure we're not click ignore on wrong users. Even I'm already quite long in this forum, but I can't remember all high rank users if they're turn inactive.

I just checked my ignore list and noticed I have ignored three users mistakenly.

If I mistakenly putting people on ignore, I would click Unignore when I read some thread where the users I don't want to hide post in that thread.

The problem is that if you have many users in your ignore list, you may not remember which users you have ignored deliberately and which users mistakenly.

I believe he will implement the change when he gets the time for it.

  I too don't think it's necessary for a notification to be placed on the "ignore" button even if it was done unintentionally because eventually you'd see their posts in a thread like @Freedomgo mentioned. Sometimes too much implementation affects the originality of something.
Anyways, it's up to @PowerGlove to see if it's a necessary requirement to implement when he looks it up.

An alert for clicking the particular feature is actually okay, I also saw the thread and I saw a link showing the list of ignored users), to be honest  I didn't know it existed until now despite my stay on the forum though I don't use it ( the ignore feature)... After checking,  I saw upto 5 ignored users though most time I do unignore once I sees I come across it on a thread ( I already know I made the mistake ).

I think some users do scroll past it without noticing it because it's barely noticeable attimes in a mega post threads where you have to scroll over and over, If it brings convenience then it can be implemented, I think Alone055 suggested remember choice to prevent seeing it everytime if some users don't want the popup

It’s frustrating when you accidentally put someone on ignore without realizing it. A notification to confirm the action would definitely help prevent these mistakes. Just like we have notifications for other actions, having one for the ignore feature would be a great addition. It would ensure that users are aware of their actions and can avoid unintended consequences. Let’s hope this suggestion gets implemented soon!

I don't see it as too much of a complication. It's just a simple pop-up notification like the other features in the OP. I think many people who make this mistake are people who access the forum through a phone. When I was using my phone I had similar issues once or twice. You wouldn't know you've ignored the user till you see their post and see that it's ignored.
If you're a user who has many accounts on ignore, you will not recognise every account, and you may not be able to tell if it was created intentionally or by mistake and you might just skip it. So I agree that a pop-up notification is a good thing in this case.

I often click the ignore button unintentionally and I just noticed them once I came across to a thread that they have a reply, but I guess it's not much hassle at all because sometimes others want to ignore those users, so confirmation doesn't necessarily to have a confirmation. If this implemented of course we will adjust.

The only time I always make the mistake of adding someone to my ignore list is if I'm making use of mobile to navigate through the forum, which most times I notice immediately, while sometimes it's when I come across the users comment on a thread, like a member has mentioned above, that I will notice it and will unignore the user immediately. That warning/notification message will help reduce the number of users that's being ignored mistakenly.

Very few people ignore other people and less cases of mistaken ignore, so the suggestion is unnecessary.

And if you feel that an ignored user is not a member you want to ignore, click on Unignore, and get it done easily. If a user is not in your memory, but shows as Ignored member, you can Unignore him too.

Otherwise, if you remember that ignored member is a spammer, scammer, let it be.

I also had this problem which caused me to receive a lot of emails and this literally drive me much crazy.
So i wasnt stupid for not knowing how to turn off notification.
I really hope it gets fixed soon, because there are some threads i really want to follow.

I have mistakenly ignored someone from a thread but when I was scrolling down to the thread I noticed the person has being ignore by me unknowingly and immediately removed it from ignore list, so such notification is important if theymos can approves it, but I know that one's you ignore someone you will notice it in that thread, except that you're not observate enough, because the profile of the person will show indifferent from other users, except its a situation whereby you don't bother to cross check the thread you post or comment after you have posted, your ideas is good

There is no need for the extra interface. If you want to watch/unwatch a user then its simple as that. Same thing applies to other call to actions one would want to make in the forum. Such as, sending of merits, deleting of post, reply, moving topic etc.

The Bitcointalk forum is designed in a way that an action is completed in just one stop, there is no two step to anything. Although to some persons its a bad user experience but knowing about this. Its advisable that all forum members should make sure they look twice before clicking any action.

How would you accidently click on ignore? It's not that the ignore link is at a prominent spot to accidently hit. And if you did, simply show the hidden post and click on unignore to undo your mistake. That's no rocket science.

I also quite often check briefly what people I ignored posted newly when I visit topics I'm interested in. In most cases I'm reassured that my decision was good and ignoring is justified for me. In rare cases I reconsider the ignore action, As I don't ignore lightly, it doesn't happen very often.

okay, do you seriously feel atleast 3 people ( myself inclusive) would be attesting for something that's true? It ain't a coincidence neither is it a glitch in matrix but I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I'd have to constantly refresh a page to see who got ignored accidentally -- especially when in a hurry.

well, nobody has a problem with that; maybe you're not experiencing this due to the type of device you're on?
I think this would be a very useful development in here as it'd save me the stress of reloading a page twice.

All you'll have to click is one more button: 'OK' to ignore whoever you want to ignore, that is not too much or nagging in my honest opinion. It is easy to mistakenly ignore users on the forum, it has happened to me a few times, but i quickly noticed because i barely have an ignore list. It wouldn't be bad if op's suggestion is implemented, i also believe the problem is more prevalent with members who use mobile devices to access the forum.

Meaningful suggestion. It will be helpful, especially for mobile phone users because at a slight mistake, you could ignore anyone. It has happened to me. I believe this will not be a big work for PowerGlove to implement.

The nagging question should be the more reason you should hastily confirm you actually want to ignore. Maybe next time, you wouldn't want to read the confirmation message again because it won't change, you go ahead, double click and ignore

How is it even possible to do something you don't want, in this particular case, put someone on ignore? It has never happened to me that I unintentionally put someone on ignore, sent more merits than I wanted or something similar. I wonder if we should ask for additional confirmation on the forum for each action - I have one too - when registering, the question "Do you really want to be a member of this forum?" should be asked.

Maybe that would deter some spammers, plagiarists or those who think it's normal to use artificial intelligence instead of their brain.
