might just be that the airline company just want to outsource a third party to take care of receiving the deposit in crypto while they get the payment in a stable form of USDT.

Exception of the few limitations that might come with this, It's a good development to have crypto as a payment option in airlines that houses people accross different part of the world. It's one way that a lot of people that don't know about certain crypto will look into it and somehow, we might get to see other airlines and firms copying this depending on how well this company is able to manage this. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible and altcoin transactions are mostly irreversible too with exceptions are when their centralized teams want to roll back the blockchain like ETH after the DAO hack, Binance with proposal from CZ to roll back Bitcoin blockchain. Basically, cryptocurrency transactions are supposed to be irreversible.

Yes, when I joined this forum several years ago eDreams was accepting Bitcoin for travels as far as I remember, along with other companies and airlines; but then something happened and most of them stopped accepting it. The timing was almost the same as when Steam stopped accepting Bitcoin, again, if I remember it right.

This kinds of move is what is highly needed to make Bitcoin adopted in the mainstream so it is indeed a welcomed development. Such system will prove efficiency and convenience and through it many people will learn about cryptocurrency and how it can actually make life easier. Another thing I have also realised is that people seems to be going for payment systems that accepts multiple cryptocurrencies and not just Bitcoin and I feel this will become the reality of Bitcoin if the much anticipated freedom of choice will be achieved.
