Favorite Sport Team

My family has their team which everyone has to support, I switched from their team to my own when I was in high school and have stuck with my club ever since. I can’t respect a football fan who switches teams every time the game gets tough for their team. I have never met an Arsenal fan who switched sides. Arsenal fans have my outmost respect because even though their team has not won a trophy in years, the fans are still very passionate about their club.

I think my favorite team has stayed in terms of longevity, but as time goes by, I prefer to have a specific player to support just because I like his play style and his statistics in bringing the whole game and understanding the game.

In terms of the whole thing about teams, I do stay loyal and definitely do not jump on the bandwagon of who is stronger in the current season or something.

However I’m curious whether some of you have changed your favorite teams over the years. It is not as simple as having a different favorite food compared to when you were 10. A favorite sport team, to me at least, will always be your favorite. So if you did change your favorite team, what was the reason?

It's normal to change your favorite team over a period. When you find it done then it's done in following being a fan of it.

But there's no consolation whether you replace your favorite team sport or not. What matters to you is either you support them til' the end or you have had enough of poor performance and you don't like losing anymore.

That's more likely the reason why someone is going to change his favorite team sport. There are also still the die-hard fans of a club or teams that they follow.

Players, coaches, club owners may change but most fans are more loyal than they are to other clubs because of poor results over the years.

Maybe there are also different circumstances where they switch clubs, or they have more favorite teams not only in one league.

Like now Man United is in a slump and the fans are angry because the results are not so satisfying for several matches but will they leave? Of course not they will be loyal to the end.

I don't have a fixed favorite team, but enjoy all the other games so football is entertainment on the weekends.

Fans are always loyal to their team and it is difficult for teams like Liverpool or Arsenal to see their teams very close to their goal but not achieving it year after year. But I think that the fans also care about the process itself, when they gather in the stands to support their team. I have a few teams that I like but I have never been a fan in the broad sense of the word, I can watch a match but I will not be very upset if my team does not win, I think it is an internal perception that is only available to real fans.

It’s very difficult for fans of Liverpool and Arsenal but they remain loyal to the club. It takes a strong commitment to stay with a club that gives you high hope and disappoints you every time. Sometimes I think Arsenal fans are bad losers because their mentality is that there is a conspiracy against them. But they never abandon their club no matter the result. No player or manager is bigger than the club, I don’t care how much you love a player or manager, you cannot leave your club because your favourite player or manager leaves the club.

Even if your favorite team constantly loses or shows bad performance, you are still a fan and you are still hoping for them to gain back momentum and start winning again. If someone were to change the team they support based on the result, how fun will that be? Nothing will bring a sports fan more delight than seeing their favorite team climb their way up to the top.

It is true that people loves their favorite tea even if they loss in several matches but there might have a favorite player too and in this case, the favorite person may turned into changes from the player to a team for the quality play of the player.

I do have a favourite team in all the league around the world because I'm a football lover and love to watch different leagues and not just one. When betting I don't consider my favourite team as the team that'll win all their matches but I bet based on what my analysis is revealing to me. I haven't changed any of my favourite teams and I don't think I can change it but when two of my favourite teams meets in the champions league or any other European competitions, I'll have to choice the team that I love the most and support them

The love I have for the teams in a different league that I support sometimes is because my favourite player moved to the club hence I have no choice but to support the team to win. Any man that can change his club would be difficult to have a relationship with because he won't be willing to go through the tough times with you but go for others.

I have been a big fan of the Manchester City team for a long time, and still believe in this team.  This club is very familiar to me as I support Manchester team in every game and enjoy their games.  They are poised to perform better this season though every player in this team is very hardworking so that can be comforting.  My will power has increased towards this team so I support this team the most and will continue to support it in the future.

Yeah this is very true ... when there a favourite player chosen by a fan, it might influence their decision in changing their fan Base as a supporter of a particular team but this isn't common though, what's common is that they will start   supporting every team their favourite player plays for  maybe not for long , some develop temporary interest in (club ) until the player leaves the club. However, they will still pledge their main loyalty for the initial  or main club they are supporting as a fan.

I used to be a fan of Manchester United but then I still wasn’t a fanatic, and now, I’m not really a fan of any particular club, just like you, I have a few clubs I really love and enjoy their gameplay and even if/when they lose a game, I’d just accept the fact that it’s football and winning ain’t always guaranteed in football. I’d rather just fan a player RN than a club, I also amazing players that I fan, and whichever club they get transferred to, I automatically transfer the love and admiration I have for that player to the club and as long as the player continues to play good football, I’m okay with the outcome and performances of the team.

The bad performance of the United players is the only reason for the team coach, because I am a dear fan of Manchester United. I used to bet every game on Manchester team from past time, but now coming into this new season they have performed very badly and I have lost few bets. But I still favor Manchester team because it is my favorite team, only if some past mistakes are removed, Manchester United team will perform very well again.

Many sports fan liked sports due to their family

Pretty much a huge percentage of sports fan grew up following a specific sport which might have influenced how they view different clubs. Do you get a hard time with being the only one who doesn’t support a specific club that all your family members does? Some people get so passionate about their teams that any fan of a different team is automatically almost an enemy.

Though I have friends that I can tease about their teams doing bad. So even if we do have different teams, we can still stay friends and enjoy the sport together.

Same here. Those who know to stay to their teams know and trust the capabilities of the team. Nostalgia and history are two of the main reasons why we stay.

I not fanatic fan of one of the favorite team, since the past there have always been two team and that is Manchester City and also Real Madrid because they are the pride of their respective different domestic leagues, but when in the UCL competition there is only one thing I always hope for and that is to be able to see these two proud team meet in the final.
For me, there is nothing else but the two and it will not change because seeing the favorite team can continue to be the best is satisfaction rather than waiting for team that is developing but in several season does not produce any results.

Maybe he has a memory of his favorite team. I've experienced that. a long time ago, I had a favorite team that I always bet on that team.
I once won the big bet, so I still hoping my luck repeat again when I bet my favorite team.
but because it never happened again, and my favorite team always loses and tends to decrease their performance, I am no longer to be fans, I change to another team that can make me win when I bet on them.

I feel like many fans are divided into two: one being loyal to the team and one being loyal to a player. I have seen people change teams because they followed their favorite player. For me though even if my favorite players leaves, I will still continue to cheer on my favorite team and maybe just keep an eye out for my favorite player. It’s really a hard habit to beat. Even if I cheer for my favorite player’s new team, a part of me will always support my original favorite team.

I became a less active fan of my favorite team because the management is not even trying and that makes any fan be frustrated to watch their games.

I hear that. Sometimes it’s fun to hope and see your team fight back on top but when they are so bad and no one seems to be exerting an effort, I can see how that can reduce your support for the team.

My favorite team (football one, which is Manchester City) is far  from the class of the frequent losers  but should they find themselves in it I would probably change my mind in supporting them. Being in the pub and support the constantly losing team would not be pragmatic behavior and would have appeared ludicrous to an onlooker, ^{(moral doesn't applicable to  this case I think)}.
