Be aware of Bybit exchange upgrades which may affect the P2P feature

I was just processing a P2P transaction on by Bybit and I came across this upgrade notification above.
On reviewing my inputted details in order to finalize my transaction this other one below popped up as a result of refreshing my Bybit exchange app.
                   
I included the both photos Incase of timing misunderstanding to some of us here as Africa man timing maybe concerned.
The actual African time is approximately 2:00 AM just for clarity.

One stated a date of 30-10-2024 and the other states 29-10-2024 which the system upgrade would take place.

I don't know which to go with but for now, I am not panicked and I also wanted to bring to our attention if Incase anyone may encounter some inconveniences on the exchange platform especially on the P2P feature at the specified period of time.
There is no need for panics as the platform is undergoing a system upgrade by then.
Also, the timing differences which one said the technical work would last for 30 mins and the other said 60-90 mins.

We just need to take note of this period when using the Bybit's P2P feature.
If I may ask, did anyone here noticed such notification or changes within this day 29-10-2024? Or probably we await until the other stipulated date 30-10-2024.

The first image wey you post na 21/10/24, and that date has already passed, so i dey sure say dem don already run that upgrade. The second image wey you post na for 30/10/24 and that is tomorrow. Nothing much to worry about this sha, and the upgrade go just last for about an hour and the half, so no wam. As you still post am here, you try.

System upgrades are normal for exchanges to help improve their platforms for the best performance to their customers so it's not something to panic about and besides they must have already given a notification to their users about the system upgrades. Moreover, 60 to 90 minutes is just between an hour and 30 minutes so someone who want to make use of the platform within those periods can equally exercise a little patience till the upgrades has fully been undergone then they can still perform any operation without hitches.

We just need to take note of this period when using the Bybit's P2P feature.

The first image is 21-10-2024 which is a week and some days ago and not 29-10-2024. I think just the second image is enough for the awareness.

Sometimes, when a platform wants to undergo upgrades, their system might start experiencing some changes before the specified period of time so if you are experiencing some kind of difficulty in performing any transactions now just know it's probably as a result of the scheduled system upgrades.

I have not experienced this before on exchanges. The reason for the notification is to let people know that they may experience difficulty if they are making use of P2P during the stated period of time, not before the stated time period of time.

I didn’t even notice the first notification, I only see the second one that said on 30/10/24 which is tomorrow, and I don’t see it as something to panic about because it is what most exchanges usually do when they have some maintenance or upgrade to do in their platforms, therefore, it is normal and let’s hope it is nothing serious.

My only concern is p2p transaction, I will not want them to remove NGN from the p2p platform just as other exchanges do.

It's fair they made apop up notification of the app for traders to see but what about those who are not constantly trading or using it frequently to notice it though they said some service (which aren't disclosed) and at the same time not all service so any service could just fail  .
why not just prompt all users with a notification in their emails about the upgrade atleast if there's any loss incurred they shouldn't be responsible or did any user her get a notification in the email about the upgrade??... imo I think this(sending notification to all users emails) is the right way to communicate not just coping it up on their app only

It is not something they most send in your email, and I do not believe you will lose any money because the service will not function properly for 30 to 90 minutes. So all you have to do with it is be patient for a while and wait for them to do the upgrade in there system, which should make it work faster than before. Many people do not check their email regularly unless they have a specific need for it. But because they pop the notification, it is advisable for traders to wait for the upgrade so that they can enjoy there more better.

You could be right to an extend because mails should had also been alternative to speculate the update but since you could also admit that some traders or users of the exchange might not be frequently be active of the exchange app, it could also be possible that during the time such user were absent from the app was when the technical upgrade must have taken place which means at the return of the user to the exchange, the system must have been settled.

But that not still enough, we are all equal to be update just Incase there is a coincidence so that it does not seem an ignorant of the user not being aware of the notification and same time process a transaction tasks.

Being realistic, notifying users of the update might not be compulsory but it is necessary.
You have also made some defensive sense, not everyone are active of checking their mail boxes on regular basis that means even if the mail was sent, some users would still be ignorant to find it valuable.

But then, I would let you know that it is not just when we are possible or loosing our funds that the exchange can email us when there is some sorts of system upgrading like that. Perhaps... Once an inconvenient serves a million of lost. We might literally not know the state of the user/trader at that time of hoping to use the exchange feature especially the P2P as earlier mentioned by the exchange.

This is what most exchange does, even Binance anytime they want to upgrade and do some maintenence, they put a notification for people to see and sometimes blog for people to read but if it's something that has to do with wallet address upgrade, then a notification message will be issued to emails for everyone because wallet address is a very sensitive thing, so that people don't have to complain of loss of funds and if necessary, wallet address of the particular network will be disabled.

All this thing wey Bybit they do sha na because alternative no dy right now for Nigerians, therr is no Kucoin, there is no Binance, no OKX and since then Bybit users has doubled which means more laod and the service is just getting worse and worse with more complicated customers. I want to check the p2p service today and found out that there are people with high rate that others but when you try to sell to them, it says "provide payment method" but what it's more unclear about those buyers is that they have huge trade, not less than 2k with 98% trade with rate of ₦1781.2 but look suspicious. When you change payment to "Opay" the rate becomes ₦1739 with other traders.

Something is off about the p2p since 2 days now.

Surely it is very important that various exchanges usually make it necessary to inform users if there is going to an network interrupt on time as not to be caught in the process, but yeah a lot of users might not be good at reading and taken notes of their notifications and may assume wrongly of what could the notification for and at such end up having issues during transactions when they are not meant to which is very wrong, it is the exchanges best interest to serve users optimally the reason for upgrading and maintenance,

You are right they should have sent all user a notification on their Email which will be more effective for everyone but even this pop up notification on the app will pass message to everyone even those not frequently trading or using the app. Whenever they log into the app and wants to use it the pop up notification will still be there to notify them of the changes and upgrade although Emails are the best.

Bybit are comfortably making changes to their services because dem don de too get market and dem know say we Nigerians no get alternative and na why dem just de do like this. I even notice say dem don add charges to trade P2P and na wetin dem no been de do before but all na because dem don get too many customers and Nigerians no get another place to go.

Anybody trading on bybit will get this update therefore it isn't necessary we post updates like this here often or this kind of update them no go finish because upgrades na normal something for this exchanges.

Them they add and remove things always so no need to panic. Other options dey to use when a particular exchange dey down, P2P dey too wey you fit sell to merchants directly and not necessary to have to use a CEX always.

At some times when we had that some exchanges are under go systems upgrades it normally affects all the user’s using that exchanges, but at some times it favors the users because after the system upgrades they bring new things that the users will enjoy their exchanges more and do whatever successful.

Scammers are everywhere; there is no p2p without scammers. Bybit only gained attention because there were too many Nigerians flooding there, and when OKX stopped providing P2P service, scammers from OKX moved to the famous Bybit p2p marketplace and took advantage of the Bot dispute mediators, which has now been fixed. At least I've traded the last 5 months without any problems.

But for the Bybit now i don’t see any reasons why they under go system upgrades, or they think that their the only one that have P2p since their is a lot of exchanges that have been removed p2p like KuCoin, Binance, OKX etc. may they think that the users will not have any others alternatives apart from Biybit; that’s why there try to under go the system upgrade without know reason.

So if there is a bug in the system they shouldn't undergo maintenance to fix it? There is no system that doesn't undergo system maintenance at some point.

That is absolutely true. It is impossible to have one of a dominance exchange and expect "scam free".
Infact, regardless that we might be dealing on reputable exchanges such as earlier mentioned, we are still faced with threats in the CEX since we are not a 100% self custodial with our funds.

Bybit has actually been trying to keep the bugs clean for fair usage even while scammers are roaming about to steal users funds.

So if there is a bug in the system they shouldn't undergo maintenance to fix it? There is no system that doesn't undergo system maintenance at some point.

Quit funny 😁. There is every necessary  reasons why the exchange has to do upgrading. Remember we are only users of the platform and not technicians who has the potential access to figure out technical factors within the platform.

They do the developments and maintenance for users convenience which we literally don't know the internal or malicious challenges in there.
Perhaps we don't have to be only concerned when we falls victim or having inconvenience operations in the platform before a review of upgrades/maintenance can be done.

So believe it that it is all for the safety of users that had the needs for the upgrade.

If you tried performing a p2p transaction when the update was going on you will find out that your transactions would be delayed as a result of the upgrade so it actually affected transactions but due to the pre information that was posted on their app, I believe most people were informed and they avoided making transactions until the end of the update.

The cash in hand and normal transfer is still there just that the cash in hand comes first before you will start seeing bank transfers I'm still trying to figure out what the cash in hand means because I don't think the app is going to encourage any funny transactions that would affect their customers.

Scammers dey for every platform, anywhere wey dem see opportunity to collect money from people, dey must take advantage of it. I never really hear much about scammers for bybit, i know people wey dey use bybit and dem never really complain much about their experience with the exchange, but the truth be say people wey no too get knowledge of crypto and how to safely use an exchange go everly dey vulnerable to scammers.

You are right during update is advised to stay away from any transaction at that moment because if users ignore it they would not be happy with the results that's why every platform normally update their users first before doing it to avoid delays, however even with the update going on some persons was still doing their P2P transaction but when they encounter delays and some malfunctions that's when they decided to stop till they finish the update. However I never new that the option of cash in hand was there before because I have never seen it there and that was why I even consider it be a newly added feature by the Bybit team but since you have already observed that it was already there before now, what would you think is their new updates on the platform?.
