Need an explanation on Spamming

Good day my good members of Bitcoin Forum.
As a newbie I must learn and ask.
There are some question I wanted to ask here but I was just going through some posts and comments just to understand  it better but still am still getting it twisted or i am confused,well my question is Spamming from my research:spamming is reefers to as unwanted messages,post and  comments sent to a larger numbers of people.
Furthermore,after going through the  Forum I have been seeing some posts and comments here in Forum,then I noticed many messages have been posted and none replied,is it that any thread that's not been replied are categorized  as spamming ? or the thread have been posted by someone before ?
Again what's off-topic all about?

Please my experienced expertise here highlight it to the best of my understanding

Spam topic is not when a topic has no replies. There are topics that people may reply to late. Spam topic is an unwanted topic. If you stay active on this forum, you will start to notice them. Such topic will have zero value. They are reported and may most likely be deleted.

Also the person that created the topic may post the topic again and again, or be posting another topic which have no useful content but to just spam.

A spam may not be a topic, it can be a post under a topic. It can be a non useful or non meaningful off-topic to a thread.

Off-topic are topics that are not related to any board on this forum. Such topics are moved to off-topic. Also off-topic may not be a topic but a post under a thread. Some are allowed if it is worth it, nobody will report it. But if it is not worth it, they are often deleted by a moderator because people reported it to be deleted.

Yes and No, because a post is not categories as spam simply because people hasn't replied to it. It may seems the topic lacks the necessary ingredients to trigger people into discussion. And secondly, a topic can be considered a spam, if it has been posted before.

You know this forum is dedicated to Bitcoin and everything that evolves around crypto, right? And specifically to us "Naija" been a local board on this forum, our discussions have been divided into two parts (i.e Bitcoin in general and politics). And as such, any topic posted on this local board that is not about Bitcoin/crypto or politics is categories under Off-topic.

Example of Off-topic are:
* 5 Reasons signs your girlfriend is cheating on you
* Burnaboy just won a Grammy award
* Wizkid vs Davido, Who do you think is the best artist in Nigeria


Whereas, topics that can be considered under Politics include;
* Federal government just agreed with Labour Congress to increase minimum wage.
* Donald Trump vs Kamela Harris, who do you think will win US presidential election


Whereas, topics that can be considered under Bitcoin related include;
* CBN just ordered banks to stop freezing accounts linked to be connected with Bitcoin transaction.
* 5 mistakes Newbies make while investing in Bitcoin

But at this point how would someone prevent himself from being spamming?

If it is a topic, bring meaningful, useful and quality topics. You can make use of the search engine to make sure that the topic is not existing already on this forum.

If it is post and not topic, make sure you read the OP and other people that have posted.

Learn from other quality posters. Learn from their posts patterns.

E get many reasons wey fit make people no reply to person thread, examples are: redundancy, AI post, topics that have been discussed time and again, etc. If you garner knowledge and only post in topics wey you get something to contribute, then you no go fit spam, no too worry yourself about this, bitcointalk na just discussion forum, so e no hard to do the right thing.

The easiest signal of spamming is when you make post that add no value to the forum or discussion. It could be few lines posts or replies that can be seen as something someone have already said. To prevent yourself from spamming, always read the posts of others and before creating a topic, you have to use the search button to check if someone have made similar post. Then avoid short replies like:

It good you mentioned and list it because few lines of post or even a single line of post doesn't mean a is spamming neither doesn't it mean it isn't a quality post it just depend on the context portrayed in the post itself... thus at the same time you could thank someone In your post but it shouldn't be done in a way that you only made the post just to thank the person with a single word... you can reply with your opinion on what is happening or why you are heeding to maybe some kind of correction and sometimes it depends on the nature of conversation on a thread you can just decide to say thanks but the good practice is just to avoid saying the "thanks" generally without anything meaningful behind it....

OP there is nothing bad in asking questions. As a matter of fact, asking questions keeps you knowledgeable of the forum and how things are done here but however, the question you have asked is an important question which people still do not understand how to differentiate and some do not even know about it.

Spam post are considered as unwanted post that are really not in line with the topic discussion as the case may be. They are post with little or no input in a conversation ongoing on a thread with no positive impart. Off Topic has to do with topic created that is not inline with the thread where it was created. This is why you see the thread for that were topics are moved to and sometimes the topics are not inline withe the platform standard. From all indications and from the posts and replies gotten CryptoHeadlineNews  and other members have already stated it clear which I believe you have already seen.

Your right in your definition, at least you have now been privilege in knowing what spamming is, when you sent an unsolicited message to a group of people or a single entity for no important reason or cause, its called spamming, also, spamming could also be this, if you have a good content in your post but made it in a wrong way, such could be by posting same content repeatedly over time.

It is expected that on tis forum, before you could create a thread, try make use of the forum search engine in other to check if what you're intending to post have been posted by someone before or not, secondly, some post contents are less important or meaningful, so they may not attract for much reply because members don't see the need for creating such a thread, lastly, some threads are just there to pass out information and not to engage a discussion, so expect such not to receive much response base on the content.

Low quality post is what we often regard under the off topic category, when a post content couldn't hold a specific information to learn or get informed about on, such could also be an improper content of a post for public viewing.

I can see that most users here have already enlighten you about spamming  which is nice , though now is for you to avoid it , is good to always ask question as a newbie so that you won't endup breaking any rules without knowing, that's why always good to go through rules and regulation.

And to avoid such (spamming) always have the zeal of researching,  like what sir Charles-Tim mentioned earlier making use of the search engine to avoid repeating any topic that's existing before, and also focus in expanding your knowledge so that you willl able to post meaningful things always.

It's good you have corrected this caused when reading and I came to this reply this what exactly what I wanted to clear out as making reply that are short or one liner doesn't necessarily mean it's not quality enough or mean that it's spamming as you have said it all depends on the context or nature of the message being passed acrossz there are lots of cases when a single line reply can have all the quality than writing jargons repeatedly without making any point.

Before I add to what others have said, I just want to advice you to not use AI for posting on the forum as I see you have already received a negative tag for that. Secondly, it isn't a must to post on boards that you don't have an idea about.

Write on boards that you can add meaningful replies to topics being discussed there. You should know that spam is subjective but any replies or topics that doesn't add any value to the forum or not necessary, can be considered spam.

We then have different types of spam as some can be managed but there are those that hurts they eyes to read and those are the worst type of spam.

You also can be spamming when you now arrange your post them well like the spellings no too correct or the sentence them no dey add am. Spam na just any unnecessary discussion to a topic (repeating what others have said too can be called a spam).

Some topic may not get replies because other members of the forum may deem it as not interesting to them toale comment on, but this does not mean that the topic is spam, you can see some topic of the technical board in the forum, this topic that lack replies sometimes are highly technical topic, and most memeber of the forum may lack the experience a d knowledge to engage in such discussion to avoid off topic replies.

Also some reason could be yes the topic may be spam, and forum member already k ow thy, such a topic may get deleted, so instead wasting time to comment on such a topic, they will just avoid it in totality to avoid they comment getting nucked along side the original topic.

Bro you don talk well, and truly wetin you talk dy on point, but I just wan add to wetin you don talk already, to me oo the major thing I consider spamming is, in a situation whereby we dy discuss one or two things in a particular thread, you, you decide to give your own opinion, so when you talk, e no only dy off point but you keeps on repeating the Same thing wey no make sense in anyway just for attention or sending a link in a discussion thread repeatedly that has nothing to do with the discussion, to me na that one nai be the real spamming, because e really dy annoying , though some people dy do am intentional, while some people dy do am ignorantly, but na one major thing you need to avoid doing, so that them no go tag you a spammer.

I was also suffering from some of those teams when I was a newbie in the forum. My own be say even BTC I no know am though I been don hear am before but e been no dey my mind. Op this is a good start, there are many teams you still need to know. If you no dey good with gambling then you go face problem there too so make you just dey learn more from there too. Many people don tell the meaning of Spam and Off Topic so if I tell you now e no turn to spamming. So all what I go tell you be say, since you dey read na di best thing to do. Continue reading other post. And when I dey find merits which na one of the to do. You need to click any of the members wey dey here wey you know say e don achieved well. When a topic is yet to be replied to, it doesn’t mean that the topic is refer to as a spam topic but maybe the right audience are yet to see the message and engage with it, or not just a topic the person have something to say about. Spamming means more to what you’re saying and as you’ve also explained in your topic, meaning bringing up a topic without relevance to a group of people which they find uninteresting and deviating from the point of view in that section. Any topic created without the context of it not solving any issue at hand there, should be regarded as spamming and not to be tolerated.

Off-topic may be similar to spamming but they’re some off-topic discussion that you won’t call spamming. Posts in off-topic are moved into the section if it has no relevance to the board it’s been posted on. Your post may be making a lot of sense but if it doesn’t match the kind of discussions needed on that board or any other board in the forum, it’ll be moved to off-topic, such posts are regarded as off-topic posts.

You don't categorize a thread as spamming because it hasn't received some comments. Most times why that happens is because those thread's what's discussed are of interest to a very few number of users or probably it demands some technical replies that not everyone has  information about.

One thing I can advise you op, as a newbie don't jump into discussions you know you have little or no knowledge about. That's how spamming replies begins. You mustn't be found at every corner or board discussions. Understand and know where your strength lies and build on it.
