I am in a similar situation. I have my seed phrase and the secret pin. I do not have the private keys.
After reading their ToS, I'm afraid there is no way to recover you wallet if you don’t have the prvate keys.
The PIN is used to encrypt/decrypt the private keys and the mnemonic (not a hd wallet seed) can’t be used to recover your wallet. It just lets you recover your PIN or password in case you forget them. It’s kinda similar to the mnemonics blockchain.info used to use.

Quote
I found that the funds are still present in the wallet but it's address begins with 9 (multisig, ouch!)
It looks like block.io used to support or create multi-sig addresses but none of the coins they supported (btc, ltc, doge) starts with "9"!

Hi Everyone,

Just got a mail from BlockIO

Many thanks to Juraj Bednar for raising concerns on behalf of all of us on X .... He  managed to get a reply from folks at Block.IO

Use

            https://block.io/users/sign_in

and backup your private keys using

            https://block.io/dashboard/settings.

As mentioned in the mail, There is very limited functionality left on the interface, so just back up your private keys and use them elsewhere.
Hurry, this will not be open for long !!!!

I have never used the wallet that OP complained about because it has been closed. As suggested by several seniors who have good knowledge about wallets, it seems like it can help you.
I have also never tried using a web wallet, but on the one hand, from what I know, using a web wallet for the security of my assets is doubtful.
It's better not to play around with wallets.

...
It’s been a long time since the last time I used MyEtherWallet and tbh it was one of the most reputable and most used wallets back then. It’s a non-custodial and open source wallet and if I'm not mistaken, they also have a software/app version and not only the web version.
The only problem is that it used to support only ethereum and erc-20 tokens. Not sure if this has changed recently, though.
I'm sure other members will give you some good suggestions to choose from. Just make sure the one you'll use is reputable enough and it’s non-custodial and open source.

I think I got the keys back
Are these keys only written and not files?
How did he use it to transfer Dogecoin to Binance?
Do I use https://www.myetherwallet.com is it safe?
MEW is one of the reputable and most used by many people especially years ago like on 2017 or 2018. I have mew myself which I still have a backup of it. You'll see that the key is not by file and you will have to copy it and save it somewhere safe of you write it on a piece of paper. If the wallet backup is file then it should be in UTC name with a .json file extension. If you want to import in on myetherwallet then you should choose import by software which is by private key, mnemonic phrase or seed phrase and keystore file which is the UTC name file with .json file extension.

Hi Everyone,

From what I have learnt, the keys are meant to provide access but are not directly usable in a typical wallet.
This is because it is a multisig address. You will need the help of a trusted programmer or a crypto expert.

Juraj Bednar who helped raise our concern also engages in fund retrieval. He mentioned that he has the means. Please get in touch with him if needed.
Checkout https://juraj.bednar.io/en/recovery-service-for-block-io-wallets/

If anyone is aware of a simpler procedure, it will be very helpful

Can someone spread this on reddit?  I tried but my post is not visible !

Kind regards,

If it doesn't let you import then you should try different wallet provider like trustwallet until you can access the account and transfer it to a different wallet. Take note that you should only use trustwallet to access your account using the private key. Trustwallet is not an open source wallet so you shouldn't use it for creating an account and storing crypto. I used it myself but only for receiving crypto until I sent the crypto to my main account. Anyway, I am not sure why it says like what you explained but if it's the private key you copiesd then you should be able to import your account unless it is not a key but a seed phrase or mnemonic phrase. By the way, is it letters and numbers or is it by words 12-24 words?.

Hey everyone. Avysaurus, thanks for mentioning me and my service. People should get access back to their coins.

Unfortunately this will not work with any existing wallet, because it is super non-standard multisig. TrustWallet, Electrum, Sparrow, ...., nothing.

The problem is that first key is BIP32, but the second key is a static private key. So the wallet software should iterate and derive the first key, but do nothing with the second one. That is why it is quite hard to recover, because no one else does multisig like that.

This is because it is a multisig address. You will need the help of a trusted programmer or a crypto expert.
That’s correct. Since it’s a multisig wallet you won’t be able to recover it by importing a single private key.

Luckily, DaveF already shared a link on his previous reply to a tool created by BlockIo that lets you sweep your coins to a new address.
Here is the link, again:
https://github.com/BlockIo/blockio-basic-multisig-sweep

You need to have the two private keys and the derivation path for the old wallet and the new address to which the coins will be sent.

Block.io
SUPPORT
Retrieve Private Keys
* Your Secret PIN is never transmitted over the Internet. It is used in this browser to decrypt your private keys.
* Your second private keys are retrieved in encrypted form using OpenSSL RSA public key encryption.
* The RSA public/private keys are generated for each request in this browser.
* Do not use public or shared devices to access sensitive data online.
* Do not proceed if you've installed untrusted software on this computer, especially browser extensions.
Secret PIN:
Your Secret PIN

General Usage: The data below provides you with everything you will need to use your addresses anywhere you deem fit. The addresses in your Block.io account are multi-signature addresses of the type P2SH, P2WSH-over-P2SH, or P2WSH. Each address requires two private keys. The first key is BIP32-derived, and the second key is fixed. You can use any BIP32 tools to determine private/public keys for your addresses at depth i, where 0 <= i < total addresses created_by you for the network. The information below may be incomplete for developers that have used Distributed Trust addresses, for which you specified your own public keys, and already have the redeem scripts needed.

We recommend using self-hosted Bitcoin Core, Litecoin Core, and Dogecoin Core wallet software for using these keys to transact with your addresses, but you can determine and use any other tools that might fit your needs. A reference sweep script is provided at https://github.com/BlockIo/blockio-basic-multisig-sweep, but you will need to implement your own blockchain backend for it to work.

You shouldn't give away your private keys to strangers and a recovery shouldn't need you to give away your secrets. From what I read so far in this thread, this Juraj Bednar isn't the only solution.

I just want to raise attention for newbies who might not understand the importance to keep private keys secret and away from online computers which security status is in the majority of cases basically unknown (daily used devices for all sorts of internet shit).

...

Walidarig, what do you not understand here?

It sounds to me like the pathway to go to recover your Doge shitcoins. But it's not newbie friendly, more technical and advanced stuff. Usage will need to deal with git, nodejs on the command line, preferably on a Linux system.

Did you write down the derivation path which should've been displayed to you when you obtained your private key bits? You could safely share the derivation path details here. Disclosing the derivation path usually doesn't compromise your funds.

...
What's the purpose of (not properly) citing the content without any own remarks, questions or whatnot? It's going to be somewhat advanced stuff, especially if one isn't familiar with HD wallet stuff, derivation paths and what BIP32 means.

Proper citations from other sites go like this as an example (in BBcode):

    [quote author="https://github.com/BlockIo/blockio-basic-multisig-sweep"]

I did not understand or know how to use the keys in this path to extract my commissions.
My understanding is that I need a programmer, but at the same time I should not give him the keys. I'm confused.
If there was an explanatory video on how the process is done.

I have checked out MyEtherWallet and you are right that MyEtherWallet is not just a web wallet but also an app.
Their interesting statement that I read was be your own bank and the user holds the keys not the MEW party.
MyEtherWallet focuses only on ETH and all ERC tokens even though MyEtherWallet supports hardware wallets.

Why do you make full quotes when it isn't necessary? That is bad style and should be avoided. It's just lazyness to edit the quote to the bare minimum.

I did not understand or know how to use the keys in this path to extract my commissions.
My understanding is that I need a programmer, but at the same time I should not give him the keys. I'm confused.
If you give away your private keys, the other can steal your coins. Simple as that. Not your keys, not your coins. There's a lot of truth in this short sentence.

For the recovery tool on Github (https://github.com/BlockIo/blockio-basic-multisig-sweep) you need someone, close friend maybe or just someone who won't screw you up immediately, maybe a friend of a friend you might also know already and where social relationship may prevent scam, who can setup a small Linux box, install git and NodeJS and who can run the code from the Git repository. Being a programmer does help indeed, just because programmers usually know how to deal with Github and install dependencies and run code (and usually aren't immediately helpless when something breaks).

I looked at the code and it's more or less quite straightforward, but surely nothing for a Linux newbee. But I can't promisse you that the code will execute as intended because some services or API which the code accesses may not work anymore. I haven't checked the code in such deep detail, only to get an overview what's going on and if something shady is in there which I couldn't spot.

To be frank and clear: I didn't make an audit and you can't take my word for it because you don't have much reason to trust me.

Someone who's familiar to download a Git repo from Github, install required dependencies to run the code is all you need. This someone should not want to scam you. He can show you how to setup the environment variables for the code to do the sweep. You need a Doge receiving address, preferably from a non-custodial wallet that you control. Don't try to sweep your Doge immediately to some exchange. It doesn't hurt too much to do the transfer to an exchange in a separate step.

If there was an explanatory video on how the process is done.
Well, you can try to find something on YT if you can only learn from watching videos.

You could learn all you need to do it yourself. It's a matter of desire and willingness to do what's needed on your own.

After the wallet's private key has been retrieved. Unfortunately, the addresses were multi-signed addresses. The first key is BIP32-derived, and the second key is fixed. I need BIP32 tools. I need a programmer who understands this type of address.

*Today the wallet support sent me this message " Hi Block.io has shut down its wallet and developer API as of May 31st, 2024. You still have time until December 20th, 2024 to retrieve your private keys using https://block.io/dashboard/settings, so please do it as soon as possible, and move your coins elsewhere immediately. You will not be able to access your Block.io account(s) beyond December 20th, 2024. If you retain your private keys, you will still be able to use your wallet addresses without using Block.io, but this may be cumbersome for You as the tools needed to use these addresses may require additional work on your part. Please bear in mind that your Secret Mnemonic is NOT your private key; Your private keys are found at https://block.io/dashboard/settings -> Backup Private Keys. Please use the following URL to login to your Block.io Wallet: https://block.io/users/sign_in. Kind regards, The Block.io Team "

For a start you could stop to violate rule #32 of Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ. There's no need to write consecutive posts within less than 24h. When the last post is yours, you can simply edit it to add some new things or thoughts.

I'm not a fan of shitcoins like Doge, I'm not a fan of spoon-feeding other users. I'd rather like to encourage others and you to learn something new and help themselves. I've no experience with Doge and its wallets, it surely isn't rocket science, nor am I really willing to mess with this.

Did you manage to log-in where the block.io (or whoever you contacted) support sent you the links?

Pay attention to take notes of a derivation path if that is also displayed with the private key backup. This is needed for the sweep tool on block.io's Github repo.

I think I and others should be able to guide you to sweep your coins from your block.io wallet or what's left of it. Documenting it here may benefit other users of block.io, too.
