What's your thoughts on this? Is it a creative way to raise funds for a good cause? Or will it simply promote gambling?
I would say both of the mentioned things because it's a create way to raise funds without doubt but at the same time it's promoting gambling and making many new ones excited to try gambling again and again.

Well, there's nothing wrong in promoting gambling or gambling casinos as we all are doing that on this forum by promoting casinos on our profiles, however some people doesn't like gambling and who might go against charity gambling.

I don't see it as a bad idea at all, because the money will help some people at that moment and it's cool. I don't see how this action helps to promote gambling because it is controlled and however, without this, gambling addicts will always be out there since there are other casinos out there that will always influence gambling addiction, because they are doing it for big profits and not for charity. Gambling is part of human nature and and you cannot stop it, or those people involved in this charity gambling, is it their first time to gamble.

I know we say intent counts but Gambling is Gambling.
Even if it's for Good cause it doesn't negate the risk of gambling addictions.
Instead of gambling why not directly donate to the charity
This would be better and reduces cost of setting up the gambling platform.

Nope never heard of it, but the name doesn't really change much to me.

You are branding gambling as a complete negative while you are advertising it on your signature space. Gambling is a form of entertainment which means it’s not intended to make people addicted on it. Being addicted is the people choice not the game itself that’s why we should play responsibly.

This is same with drinking alcohols, cigarettes and etc. that people keep doing and addicted for a piece of pleasure.

Like you just said but addiction ain't limited to this few
There are things that are branded good but when addiction creeps in they become bad
Same applies to Gambling to me.
I make sure I stake what I can loss and take for fun than Going in to get rich.
Now we going OP.

I don't see how this action helps to promote gambling because it is controlled and however, without this casino, gambling addicts will always be out there since there are other casinos who are just into business, and you cannot stop human from gambling.
Yeah and rather the funds can be used for a better cause
Imo, I think it's like a blend of entertainment and donation.
I would like to engage in such when done physical, I doubt I would enjoy it if done online.

Honestly it’s the first time I hear about it, charity gambling sounds like a very new concept, especially since the funds raised are directed for charitable causes. From what I understand it’s a form of incentivized giving which could potentially add a sense of purpose or a goodwil to gambling, since players know their money is going to support meaningful projects.

I can see why some people will see it as a creative way to raise fund, however gambling has such a broad appeal and brings in a lot of money, so why not put it to good use. Yet there is that flip side where it might conflict with the values of some charities and could be seen as promoting gambling. For people who struggle with gambling like me Xd, this kind of fundraising could have surprising consequences even though it’s for a good cause.

I never came across charity gambling in any of physical or virtual places (probably because of strict regulations on gambling in different areas), but I would be interested to see how it’s managed somewhere even here im the forum. In general I believe it is all about how responsibly it's organized.

Indeed, a simple way to promote even it's use something with a cause there's still gambling that involves, and for those who are not really in this kind of industry with thsoe charity gambling they might start having such kind of interest, especially those who will win those are the people who are prone to keep coming back and play for more, at first, they are just supporting the cause but sooner or later they are intending to play and win which mostly turned against them and lead them to lose a lot.

For every donation you make, you receive a ticket, so you can be the winner of a prize for your donation? Is it? So it can work as encouragement for people to donate money more often, since they can also win through this action in the end. Maybe in first world countries this feature works nicely, but if it were introduced in third world countries that would mean just another source of corruption, like everything else, because people would start cheating to benefit themselves through donations.

It would be pretty easy for the manager of the initiative to manipulate the results, giving the prize to someone connected to him in order to get the prize for him after all. I see some people on Youtube streaming and asking for donations, while promising the largest donations will receive financial prizes in return. Of course, it's just a scam method, but it tries to reproduce more or less the concept discussed on this thread.

Have you heard of Charity gambling?

Quote
Charity gambling is a "form of incentivized giving" where a charity (or a group of charities), rather than a municipality or private casino, oversees gambling activities such as bingo, roulette, lottery, and slot machines and uses the proceeds to further its charitable aims.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charity_gambling

What's your thoughts on this? Is it a creative way to raise funds for a good cause? Or will it simply promote gambling?

Others might say that it conflict with charitable values as it linked to gambling-related harm. Have you been in one of this charity gambling in your locals?

One example of this kind of charity gambling is the Dutch Postcode Lottery.

https://www.postcodelotterygroup.com/what-we-do/nationale-postcode-loterij/

As from the way i see this, i don't think its nothing less than the charity or philanthropic act and the use of gambling pattern to ensure an equal or even distribution to those that are luckily qualified for the reward the sponsors are giving to the people, one may not have to use money to gamble in this case, since it on a charity aim and giving while reaching out to the people, they are only making use of the gambling proceedings in making selections for the winners or those qualified, which is also an impressive way of seeing people gamble at no cost, and also with the advantage of winning a prize at the end.

gambling like this does not exist in my place, because gambling is an activity that is prohibited in any form and purpose, so some people in my country when they want to gamble in a casino then they will visit neighboring countries that allow gambling activities.

Charity gambling is a concept that is quite interesting to be able to help each other, especially to people in need. When a foundation opens a donation, to be honest only a few people are moved to spend a little of their money and donate it to people in need. And with the existence of charity gambling, this can be a step for people to donate more and help people in need, because they can do charity through activities they like, and rich people usually spend more money when they are in gambling.

I generally don't like those "charities". Big companies and businesses do this to get tax breaks, and despite so many charitable groups around, there are more and more poor and hungry people. Now do the math yourself...

In ideal conditions, something like this would be nice to see... where big money and big profits are being made, something should be set aside for those who don't have and who really need help. But from my experience, most of this money ends up in the wrong place or they are just a cover to avoid some taxes.

I don't see gambling as a bad stuff, neither the promotion of it, but i think people should be educated about responsible gambling. That being said, there is nothing wrong with charity gambling, i think it is cool, and the chances that someone becomes an addict through this is very slim. As long as the proceeds will be used to help those in needs and who are hungry, then i think it is fine IMO, and i would not mind to participate in it.

Not at All, this is sounding like a new development but looking at what charity gambling is all about I think it's definitely of good cause to raise funds in reaching out to the needy but still those involved in the act of gambling are actually loosing and helping a large group of people, sound like something awesome to me and to be frank this manner will definitely promote gambling big time.

Hmm. It's like how the lottery in my country works. It acts as a charity, and it is sometimes used in the right way, but the corrupt officials don't do justice to that. It's really sad. Anyway, it's a creative way to raise funds, and it somewhat entertains people when they do it. I hope that it's not that much conflict with the "charity," but I think as long as no one gets harmed, it's okay.

It's the person's responsibility if they will continue to gamble that way.

I have not heard such and it is not also in my location. And from the way I understand it, it is a way of promoting a casino in the versinity. And I don't think that is a good movement in the public domain because it will make children to join gambling thinking that what they are doing is a good thing. Casinos giving bonuses through their website to those who are participating is much more better than this outreach of charity to the people. Now who are their audience of this charity? Is it children or adults or something ly gamblers? In another way which is good to do such charitable donations is to keep those gifts in the casino hall and give to those participants who are regular customers in the casino.
Gambling prohibit people that below 18 years but this movement would make the people of below 18 years to like gambling because they would think that those who are participating in gambling are benefiting such things so they would like to join.

Gambling, regardless if it’s for charity cause or not, still it would create some risk and negative effects to those people whole will eventually fall on gambling addiction. Same with lottery in our country, we all know that some of its proceeds will go to some charities but on the other hand, people who keep on betting and losing at the same way are now suffering from financial crisis. So I don’t think the whole gambling actually serves its purpose, but it’s more on spreading gambling addiction to those who have weak emotions towards gambling.
When the games are organised for that particular purpose of giving back to the vonurable in form of charity, then that means the players have devolt themselves into playing to further the course of that charity and most time the gsmes they say, how they play it all depends on the fact that their doing all that for a charity course so some of the player will not even put up their best skills in the game and they will just play the games for fun since both the winning and loses does not come to the player directly.

Many of those club's members are already business CEO and executive so they have so much money and the only way they think giving back to the community will be through charity work and such games organisation is one of the most popular way for them to have a fund raising competition, and also a form of Excesize for the members,.

I'm confused to say that this is a good thing or a bad thing Cheesy

On the one hand, we know that in the end charity is a very positive step and it is clearly a good action because there will definitely be many people who are helped by the Charity that is done but in the end when this is associated with gambling, the good intentions of Charity are actually not in line with the steps to raise funds that are taken for me.
Gambling is still gambling even though in some countries it is still legal but in reality there are still many pros and cons in terms of gambling, especially this also seems to accommodate players to become addicted to gambling for good reasons, namely Charity.
Indirectly this reminds me of the Robinhood story even though the intentions are good but the method is still not right for me.

Same here in our country on which we do have that sweepstakes on which this is really that being tied up into a charity on which it is really indeed a good gesture or something that really talks about having that help into poor people for whatever those bettors on lotteries will really be making into or some sort of indirect way on paying up some taxes and having that catch on trying out to win up something that could changed up their entire lives. The main issue on here is that people or the citizens do really have some doubt on the fairness on how they do took up those draws on which they are really that believing that the ones who do win up those jackpots are into those who are that their own employees and this had become a known issue for most people. It is really that indeed that not proven out but if the people do have those kind of
assumptions then this could really be that true.

I agree with almost everything that you said but I do not agree with the last part. The part that you said 'and to be frank this manner will definitely promote gambling big time'. The reason I do not agree with you is because if there is nothing like this, gambling are being promoted. People will always still gamble if there is nothing like this. So I do not see how this should be termed as a way of promoting gambling. I see it as a way to raise funds instead.

I don't think it is completely fair to compare charity gambling with the story of Robinhood. Also, I can get the idea and the concern of charity gambling to somehow be an incentive for people to gamble more or get addicted to gambling, but in reality, charity events with are related to gambling are more likely to attract the attention of people who are already into gambling, instead of novices or people who have never gambled before. If you consider that, even if they are not gambling for a charitable cause, they would still continue to partake in gambling or betting in some normal casino or betting house.
So in my humble opinion, those gambling events aimed for charity are a net positive, as any other charitable event is supposed to be.

For the intention and purpose, yes it is good, I can support it, but the problem here is the method, which perhaps most people here also think the same, that collecting money through gambling with the aim of donating it is a bit strange to hear, although yes I understand that the chance of winning does exist and is open at any time to anyone, but the only problem here is that gambling will always be a risky activity, whatever the type of game and even though you have pretty good skills, the possibility of losing will always be there and apply to you, especially when luck really doesn't come.

So the point is I think the method is a bit strange, but yes for the purpose, yes I support that, but if there is another way that makes more sense to be used as an intermediary for collecting funds, then I think it is much better than gambling.

maybe they think they can take some money from the bookies to donate. but it seems all that is in vain. because the bookies will not provide continuous wins. even the system they create is to bankrupt their players.

so I agree, rather than sharing the results of gambling winnings for charity, it is better to give their gambling capital to charity directly.
