The amount of capital you start your business with will determine the amount of income you will get from your business. If after setting up your business, you still have a very poor standard of living and cannot afford some basic lifestyle, it is still an indication that the economy is hard and not because you have not tried your best.

The economy will definitely be hard when the purchasing power of potential customers is being reduced due to unemployment, underemployment, inflation, corruption and some unfavourable government economic policies. The business will still lack patronage, making you not different from others who aren't even working as hard as you do.

It is good to complain, maybe the government will hear and create more opportunities for the people to earn good money.

I do agree that people do continue to spend in times of economic hardship, I have seen it myself, but spending patterns are changing. Consumer spending is slowing down because of a rise in costs, higher interest rates, and reduced savings. For instance, resumed student loan payments and increased credit card debt are putting additional pressure on finances, making many prioritize essential items over non-essentials. While the markets are not empty, this trend change indicates how important it is to adjust to these changes both by companies and for the individual.

Rather than "buying and selling," we need to keep in tune with what is currently prioritized by the consumers. It's better to look out for accessibly priced or necessary items/services which consumers actually need rather than general advice. In this way, resilience can be favored without negating the struggle that most people are going through.

I do not agree with the statement and what efforts can be done by people to fulfill a much better life. Work is difficult to get at this time so that it affects people in making money and in these conditions they will definitely complain because there is no opportunity that can be done. Nobody is able to help us if it does not make changes ourselves but complaining is something that is difficult to overcome under conditions like now.

If you want to get out of these conditions then make a much more appropriate effort and use the slightest opportunity to change life to be good. By making money we will be much easier to get out of the problem and even though we make small money, but if consistent can definitely change life much better.

I think the key to distinguish hard economy or not lies on spending on tertiary stuff here, of course people will still spend money to buy what they need even in the hardest time for our economy the market will still active but hard economy just means people can't afford to be reckless on spending and only buy what's necessary I'd call that a difficult time for our economy. on the other hand when people can't spend anything or don't have anything to spend I'd call that economic crisis.

in my opinion people's complaint about hard economy is justified, we will understand if we are on their shoes, big fluctuation and all post covid economic problem that has risen is good enough reason for people to complaint and it's not wrong either to complaint.

Your view about the economy and how to handle it might be okay based on your experience. But you are speaking like someone who is either a dependent, single, living in a rich country, or from a wealthy home. If you have a family that depends on you, it will be clearer that cutting costs is very difficult. The economy is bitting hard and people are suffering. Some people don't have enough to feed for a day, so how will they start a business? Let me also inform you that many businesses are closing down because of inflation and high taxes.  

For me, I have been able to survive by cutting costs and seeking other side jobs because starting a business is not an option for me. I also encourage people who have the skills to run a business to start with available resources. They shouldn't wait until they have all the money to rent a space and buy all they need. They can start online or partner with other businesses. Complaining about the economy is not the best option, but seeking ways to survive is paramount. But this doesn't erase the fact that the economy is hard.

In this era, all people are survivors; there is no one who is not a survivor; even the rich are also survivors. This means that being lazy is not allowed, or else we will starve along with our loved ones. Now, how will we survive? Of course, one of those things is that we must have money.

How will we have money? We need to have a job for us to get money, right? What else? There are also sidelines that are called side jobs that can be done while we have a job in a company or small businesses so that we have a source of funds, and online opportunities like this crypto industry.

Although the economy is hard but people can still survive. But that doesn't mean everyone will be lucky to survive the economy hardship. Economic hardships is inevitable so the people who are doing business in the market are also facing economic challenges, some are fortunate to succeed their business while some are not fortunate enough and they end up shutting down. Here, you can take advantage from it, only give them loan if they have something valuable e.g. house. If they can't pay off the debt, you can hire debt collector to confiscate the house.

Some loan sharks even give offer to marry the borrower's daughter to pay off the debt.

OP, do you really think that the people will stop complaining about the economy just because you wrote a forum thread telling them to do so?
When there's high inflation, the people are complaining about it. When there's a recession, the people are complaining about being unemployed or working at a minimum wage job. It's natural for most people to complain. This is their coping mechanism, I guess.
I don't understand the point of this forum thread. OK, the people are buying what they need. So what? The harsh economical situation can actually force the people to lower their spending. The uncertainty about the future makes the people more cautious, so they start spending less and saving more. This is completely normal.

You say all this as if everyone's economy is the exact same.  Perhaps there's a difference is someones economy if they live in say the United States versus say someone whom lives in Syria.  What you're saying is really pretty ignorant and short sided.  Sure to some extent people do complain about the economy and really have no idea what they are complaining about, but overall it entirely depends on where one lives.

I would guess pawn shop is a very dangerous business because you can't really get receipt for everything, so how do you know if it's a stolen item or not? Just to give an example, what if someone brings in 150 year old item? You can't have receipt for that of course, so how do you know if that was stolen or not? Pawn shop is a business a friend of mine does and I can tell you that we are not really seeing anything great of value there in most cases, there are few that does worth a ton, and he got it for cheap, so he is happy about those, but it takes years to sell those things too and not that easy at all.

We should consider that having a legit business with competition could be a proper situation, I understand many wish to have a business that is not competing with others, but as long as you can have a good business then you are going to beat others, even if you are more expensive you are going to end up with a better customer base without a doubt.

Even if you start selling it doesn't change the fact that the economy is not hard, are you trying to say you selling you are not feeling the harsh effect of the economy the economy in your business. I believe your business is struggling at some point because you can't tell me you are not feeling the heat of inflation.

There are some people who are into business but it is so difficult for them to cope because of the hard economy and some business are struggling and some have been shutdown. It is not everyone who can do business, I don't think life was design this way, it would have been better for you to say people needs to look for an other source of income to double their income. It is possible for people to double their hustling by getting other things doing but I don't think everyone has the energy to go into buying and selling, even if people intend to go trading it won't make any change to make life easy.

Are you joking? Yes, people buy things, if you go outside, you'll see many people buying groceries but that doesn't mean that their life is great and yes, economy is hard. You might not notice that in rich and developed countries but visit poor countries where people work 10-12 hours a day and the max they get is money that will buy them food and rent. Is that the purpose of life? To only work and buy food and pay bills? People complain because they can't buy things outside of this frame, they can't buy good clothes, good tech and so on.

From my observations(at least, the economy of my country has thought me enough), people tends to adapt to economical changes. I don't know if others can agree to this, but it's just what I've observed. We all definitely know that the economy of every country doesn't go bad in a single day. It starts like a sickness that slowly kills, and the thing is that people will still adapt (especially for countries where the citizens don't have say and are not allowed to publicly criticize the government or protest).

So, I think, the ability for citizens to adapt to bad economy gives them the moral to hustle hard, which in the case you mentioned, people still buy and sell. But let's not be too quick to place judgement on those who can't afford certain basic things for themselves. The truth is, you and I know that the level of information that people acquire determines what they become. Most people don't usually have access to certain information, even though information requires one to search heavily for them. And again, opportunity are not allows available to everyone.

The perception of what you are saying varies from country to country or continent to continent. So it depends on where you are. Yeah, in most countries especially third world countries, the economy is difficult and that is why you see infiltration of firearms here and there to execute armed robbery and burglary.

In such countries in West Africa, you can say it loud that the economy is hard and difficult. It is now becoming a survival of the fittest in most African countries that are witnessing bad economic policies and high taxation not excluding high inflation amidst no jobs, no electricity to do such minor personal businesses you talked about like buying and selling. Such buying and selling most times require electricity and transportation whose cost add up to high prices and low standard of living.

The responsibility of government is to provide enabling environment for micro and macro businesses to thrive but where insecurities and fear takes the lead then brain drain would begin to increase and the leaps of the masses would keep singing hard economy because of the challenges of doing business.

If the majority of the countries in the world are complaining that the economy is hard to grow profits, doesn't  mean they are not saying the truth, because the price of some goods and services has double up early this year till now that made many companies to increase the price of their products globally. There are some people who don't want to start any business with small capital, when they know that the business is profitable, there are many business that are profitable in the society today but no money or capital to start the business base on the hardship in the land that is be caused by inflation.

If you continue to complain and think like that, your life will get worse, friend, are you still waiting for help from your government? And how long will it take for help to come to you? And you need to remember that life goes on every day, your stomach must be filled at all times. If we keep complaining it will not bring a solution to your life. Indeed, we will definitely experience difficult situations in anything, the most important thing is that we have to keep trying and don't be lazy.

It would be better for us to start with minimal capital first, the main thing before starting is to innovate, in my opinion innovation is the main key in business. This is something people fail to understand: , a lot of people are trying doesn't mean they won't complain, because they are constrained by certain economic policies in the country. When things in the market are expensive, you find yourself buying, but maybe you don't have customers to sell to. People can't  survive without something, doesn't mean the demand will not drop, the request rate will drop, meaning what you buy might spoil in your hands or you might not make enough profit. If you buy something for $15 and can only manage to sell it for $16, and even that's in small quantities, you still haven't made much profit.

So, the economy is tough on people; many sectors are tough. Things that used to be easily accessible and cheap to buy are now more expensive. These constraints make people keep trying and trying. Is that the point of a country's economy - to make you strain yourself to the least before you can survive? People are complaining so that the government can hear and put in measures to make the economy better. It's not that everybody is lazy; a lot of us are trying.

We in this forum are trying; we're taking risks to make investments, to try out the crypto space online and offline. People are hustling.
