I was shocked when I saw the pop up from the apps. Though in my country we cannot use the p2p feature of the exchange and all what we do is to receive and send. And also trading so I login to make a transfer (withdraw) and a message pop up and said, US users of the service are currently restricted and only withdraw their coins. For now the only thing they can do is to login and withdraw.
And you can see the message from the image below.

What is happening there? I thought things will change when Trump wins the election. Those who are there can tell us more.

No. Kucoin restricted your account to withdrawal only. Probably you set your VPN to United States and Kucoin noticed it. The reason I said so is because Kucoin was never available for people in United States since a very long time ago. Or you are using VPN to hide that you are from United States. Either of the two.

It's not going to happen too soon, or even not ever going to happen, unless Kucoin submit and getting regulate in US lands

Can you tell us if you're a regular user in Kucoin that you able to withdraw on earlier days before this? Thus are you in US? Or just used a VPN?

I'm not a KuCoin user anymore, but is it his/her account that's actually restricted or was that a pop-up for everybody? It looks like it's not referring to a particular user but to all of them. It looks like a general reminder especially because the deadline is set exactly one month later.

Anyway, OP, Trump winning the election isn't like a wave of a magic wand. The state of things won't just change overnight. KuCoin is registered in the Seychelles in Africa. It might one day serve the US market though, but it will still go through a lot of process.

I am not also sure. But the last time I get such message from Binance, it was because I set the VPN to United States that Binance.com is not available. The message was very similar but I was left with the option to go for the third (which I think is the advanced) KYC verification.

Another reason is Kucoin is not available in United State for a very long time ago.

I decided to check DiMarxist posts just now, I noticed he is a Nigeria.

Process like having .us domain and more.

Did you actually think that Trump would remove the anti-crypto red tape?

This is a good wake-up call.

But anyway, KuCoin has been going down the drain lately. First they required mandatory KYC, and now this. It is becoming more like other well-known exchanges, which does not surprise me in the slightest.

I wonder if the withdrawal feature has an expiration date.

you know trump has not officially taken office yet, sleepy joe is still in charge for now.
it will take some time to see any changes, if any. i would not be surprised if regulatory pressure increases instead of decreasing under trump.

for now, you should withdraw any coins you have and look for another platform to trade.

I wonder if the withdrawal feature has an expiration date.
yep, from the image OP shared "US users need to withdraw their assets by 00:00 (UTC-5) on December 17, 2024."

i wonder what happens if someone does not withdraw their coins by then? would KuCoin just take them?

According to some articles what you mentioned seems correct but it is old, did you log in for the first time or did you move to the United States or did you use a VPN?

The United States is currently a restricted service area for KuCoin. US users' accounts have been transitioned to a "Withdrawal Only" status

No. Kucoin restricted your account to withdrawal only. Probably you set your VPN to United States and Kucoin noticed it. The reason I said so is because Kucoin was never available for people in United States since a very long time ago. Or you are using VPN to hide that you are from United States. Either of the two.

I thought the system would successfully identify the VPN and ask you to stop it and not restrict the account.

Something like this happened to me on Binance some years ago, and MEXC recently. Deposit and trading are disabled but I was able to only withdraw and given the option to get verified on both exchanges. On MEXC, I later had to open another account instead.

On some exchanges, if you get verified, you will not only be able to access the exchange and there would be a warning that will state the reason which is the restricted IP. If you off the VPN and use normal IP address or use VPN location that is not restricted, you will be able to access the exchange.

You can't work in a country if you don't have a permit/license, and it has nothing to do with who the president is - unless you think Mr.Donald is going to create a wild west where everyone can do whatever they want?

Maybe some things will loosen up a bit, but I personally don't expect that there will be any big changes regarding cryptocurrencies - from what I hear, the new president is planning mass deportations first, so I don't believe that things like this will be high on his priority list.

Okay, now I understand. But the Government is still under Joe Biden control so is he implementing the upcoming policies of Donald Trump tenure because Donald Trump said all migrants will be deport back to their country of origin.

Maybe some things will loosen up a bit, but I personally don't expect that there will be any big changes regarding cryptocurrencies - from what I hear, the new president is planning mass deportations first, so I don't believe that things like this will be high on his priority list.
But the manifestos of Joe Biden and Donald Trump are not the same therefore the policies will not also be the same. And since i am from afar, I can't say anything for now until he takes over the mantle of leadership and implement his manifesto then we will know if the cryptocurrency will have a change or not. Since most of his supporters and team members are cryptocurrency lovers. Things might change.

Why would Trump have anything to do with kucoin and other crypto exchanges?  Roll Eyes
Elections are just circus for the masses with superficial changes, and Trump only cares about making money even through bitcoin if he can.
As for kucoin, there is a chance most big centralized exchanges will do the same thing in the US, regulations remains the same, there wont be any wild west crypto now.
Even if some remaining exchanges still work there is always a danger of losing your coins if you hold them there.

It has something to do with the actuality of US' rules about crypto. Crypto exchanges and casinos have a bad blood against the government itself and I don't think that even Trump starts to sit in the white house, there is nothing going to change about these rules. He can say crypto, bitcoin, doge, etc. But these rules are likely to stay and these exchanges have to adjust and just as how Binance did, kucoin needs to have specific domain and services for their US citizen users.

If there was to be an expected change, he is only president-elect now and cannot implement policies as yet. But, even when he can, do not expect any radical changes in the crypto space. Just as he visited and worked for a fast food as well as drive a garbage truck, it was all aimed at winning the election. The crypto hype fell right into the Republican's laps, and the used it effectively.

First withdraw any crypto you have on the exchange, then message support for guidance, especially if you're not actually living in the US.
