We all know how it feels to lose money in gambling. It is one of the worst feelings we encounter, which makes us stressed and can lead to feelings of self-guilt. But sometimes we overstretch ourselves and gamble beyond our means. I have seen people even take loans to gamble and get sucked into an endless loop of stress, anxiety, and isolation.
If you have just encountered a big loss which is making you sick to the stomach, do not worry. Here are five things you can do to find peace and divert your energy to some inspiring things:

1. Accept the loss: Do not try to suppress the feelings; do not lie to yourself. You have made a mistake by gambling beyond your means, now accept it. We all make mistakes in our life. Most importantly, express the feelings: Weep if you want to weep, shout in a closed room if you want to shout, just do not harm yourself or others in the process, as it will only make things worse. Expressing your emotions is the first step towards getting out of this situation, and believe me, things are only going to get better from here. If you have expressed yourself, you have already made great progress.
Suppressing emotions will cause serious trouble to your psyche, which can lead to depression and delusions. If you do not accept your loss and mistake, you will only strengthen your unconscious to again take higher risks. In case you are wondering why your mind is still thinking of arranging more money somehow (taking loans/selling stuff, stealing, etc.), it is because of an innate human tendency of loss aversion.

2. Tell someone: You have to have at least one person in your life (the more the better) to whom you can share your feelings and let them know about your situation. It will help a lot because if you continue to live in isolation with that feeling, trust me, you will not be capable of taking care of yourself. There is no shame in taking help in these matters; instead, it is a sign of great courage to honestly tell someone how you are feeling.

3. Socialize more, go out, play outdoor games, go on a hike with friends for a few days: You need an immediate shift of your focus from gambling, and going out, playing games, etc., are good options to do that. It will also shorten your screen time, which must be zero for at least 2-3 days.

4. Take professional help: There are many government as well as non-government organizations who can help you a lot if you are still panicking and nothing is working for you. Especially if, even after a few days, your sleeping and eating patterns are not normalizing. They will help you cope with anxiety and pursue some positive change in your life.

5. This last advice is a bit philosophical. Your existence in itself is a miracle, and on top of it, you as a living, conscious human being have survived against odds much higher than any lottery. Therefore, you are a winner already in life, no matter what these are—petty things (money lost in some game)—and you surely have the capacity to overcome this. Even if you do not believe in yourself right now, your existence is the undeniable proof of your potential.

It's better to just step away from the game itself for a few days and see how it goes. I know that feeling though, last week I lost some big money, for two straight days, and whenever I played after that, I still take a big L.

So I said to myself, that I need to slow down for now, as I'm having a unlucky week. That's why I do for now, although I'm tempted to play because online games are accessible, I try as hard as I can to not to as the damage is going to be too emotional for me. The money yeah, you can recover if, but the psychological tear is killing me.

We all know how it feels to lose money in gambling. It is one of the worst feelings we encounter, which makes us stressed and can lead to feelings of self-guilt. Depending on what you mean by worst feeling ever. As someone who has been gambling for years now, losing money in gambling is the last thing i think about. Because i gamble with what is left of my discretionary income and not with money that was meant for important things. Aside that, i also understand that gambling is all about winning and losing. Its understandable that when i lose i bear my loss and when i win i celebrate quietly. Gambling responsibly also has to do with controlling our emotions and not just gambling with a comfortable amount. 


2. Tell someone:
This is total bad idea. Instead i rather wallow in isolation that speak about my gambling problems to another person. People tend to make things more worst for you when you share your gambling problems with them. They might end up looking at you like an addicted gambler. Maybe later in the future that they aint your friend anymore, they will start speaking bad about you to other persons.

Take a break. A break is like a detoxifier. And while on the break don't engage in any activity that can trigger one to engage even if it is "a little" in gambling. While on the break read a book, take that course, learn that skill, do something that is outdoorsy and involves a group of people. While on the break, volunteer in an organization that engages in public good. While on the break, start that business. There are so many things to do after a huge loss that can't even be summarized into just 5 points. But then thank you for bringing it up.

Take a break.

The most important thing in my opinion is point one, because, accepting defeat and that is the attitude that must be taken, because most people are not happy they lose and do not want to lose so they want to return the money they have lost, so he can lose more money because he is unable to accept that he lost in gambling.

regarding the second point OP in my opinion it is optional, not everyone should know our losses even though they are big, which if not motivated then they will get insults from the people we tell and talk about us behind our backs, that is a bad choice in my opinion, it happened to me personally, and it is very annoying.

Accepting the loss is a very important factor as a gambler. And if could be better then also forget what we had lost. Don't think that the gambling site or online casino should give it back to you because there is no way that would happen. You lose, it's gone, accept that.

Good advice but every gambler must have their own way to vent when they lose a bet. Maybe from the 5 points only 1 or 2 can be done to recover. My two cent  it depends on how much you lose in betting if the amount is large it will definitely take a long time to recover mentally but if the amount is only small going outside to get some fresh air for a while is enough.

The first point is important then accept defeat as this is already part of gambling... So losing is very natural in gambling so if someone does not accept his defeat then he is gambling not for pleasure but for profit.

The most important thing is to rest...

2. Tell someone:
This is total bad idea. Instead i rather wallow in isolation that speak about my gambling problems to another person. People tend to make things more worst for you when you share your gambling problems with them. They might end up looking at you like an addicted gambler. Maybe later in the future that they aint your friend anymore, they will start speaking bad about you to other persons.

Of course the person describes here are the person you trust not random person that you are not close since no one will be interested to hear your story if don’t have good relationship with it.

In my case, I always tell my wife whenever I have a big loss since I’m always honest with her. I use money what I can afford to lose but sometimes I add some from my personal savings to spice up my game. Telling your problem to a person you trust will help you clear heavy feeling in your chest because you knew someone will understand and help you.

Good steps to help one heal from a big loss. Personally, taking a break is the best of it all and at the same time, you should let go of your losses, because if you cannot let go of your losses, you might find it difficult to take a break. You don't even need to lose to do 3 and 5. Maybe 4 as well but that's pretty subjective. Gamlbing is FOR fun. If you're not having fun with it (whether you're losing or winning), then do something else. There are a huge number of activities a person can do with their time, whether it be inside or outside their house. Absolutely no need to limit yourself to just, well, gambling. Might depend on your personality but again, no need to limit yourself. Could probably work if it was a competitive activity (or has some aspect of it), but pretty sure gambling has none. If you think it has one, you just think there's one lol.

To accept the loss and to stop chasing after the loss with thoughts of recovery is the best approach after the loss has been encountered and it is best for one to relax, take a stroll, go for a swim or partake in some other fun activities within the time frame inorder not to brood about the loss.

I do experience loss often times but I try to reduce my gambling bets once my the frequency of my loss is getting too high. Even changing to other games may not help because I believe gambling requires a calm emotional response, else whatever we do after being upset will always tend to zero profit and more losses.

How she react after you tell that? most of my friends said if their wife know they're in big loss due to gambling, instead of listen and give a suggestion, they will force to completely quit gambling and getting mad. This mean, you're not yet solve your problem, but she have already give more problem to you.
