700 students are learning about Bitcoin in Indonesia

They might not be interested right now, but i am sure they would appreciate it as they grow older. I believe it is very important to talk to kids about finance in general, sometimes i wish i had some form of financial knowledge when i was younger, i probably would have had more money than i do today. Surely we do not expect the kids to be fully interested when you start the discussion, but as they grow older, the knowledge becomes invaluable to them.

Sometimes we act accordingly to how age and maybe you are not making it look interesting enough because learn stuffs like this is suppose to make kids more excited, and when they grew a little older they will give more value to the investment actually because you know how kids don't take learning seriously somtimes and some of them even hate school. And am sure they reach them about finances and also how to manage finance you test them with money and also how to safe money and the importance of investing. And when you train them with this thing it will not depart from them for sure.

Because kids must surely learn from there parents and they don't have a choice so anything you are doing make sure is something that they can learn from you and you can even make them ask questions, be free with them, and countries are beginning to introduce bitcoins to schools, and they are beginning to understand the value of such education, and thing like this will even reduce crime because the mindset of the kids will be focused somewhere else to make money. It is something that will help.

A foundation called Taruna Bakti in Bandung, Indonesia has taken the initiative to educate 700 secondary school students in Indonesian secondary schools about Bitcoin.  Maybe that's how Bitcoin is spreading to remote areas around the world.  If these students learn about Bitcoin from an early age, they will grow up to be much more experienced about Bitcoin. After gaining experience with Bitcoin, they can teach other people about Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is our future. Our future generations must know about them at an early age. Teaching them about bitcoin not only does teach them valuable lessons about finance and the economy but it also opens up their eyes to technological innovations that they may be interested in replicating in the future.

They might even be the ones to influence the elderly in their homes. When they go home, I hope they talk about bitcoin to their parents and have them be informed as well.

It's really nice to see this kind of movement from indonesians because it will make people aware about Bitcoin and the country itself will adapt the use of cryptocurrency. The effort of teaching students to learn crypto is one of the initial step for them to know the value and the future of cryptocurrency. These ages of children cannot grasp most financial topics or lessons so im wondering how can they do that. They're too late, we already have Akademi Crypto, a project that mainly for education, mainly about Bitcoin, but in the end most people are in loss because the project now tend to discuss about altcoins and give useless signals.

It's quite surprising how they allow to teach about Bitcoin considering most people think it's high risk investment, not to mention the risk of fall to gambling.

Maybe the one that you shared is for the adults that doesn't have any knowledge about Bitcoin and they're taking advantage of these newbies by giving some useless signals (like you said). I believe this is a different scenario because they're focusing mainly on students. While they're still a chance that this might turn out to be the one that you shared, I believe the chances are highly unlikely.

As for Bitcoin being a high-risk investment, I believe it's also been thought here as well. At the end of the day, it will depend on these students on what they will do next after learning Bitcoin and its basics. It's up to them if they will continue learning, or they will just ignore it for some reasons. As for Bitcoin and gambling, I hope this initiative will not be an opening for these students to know more about online gambling casinos or else, their lives might get ruined.

Nothing bad to say about the initiative because that at least increase the number of people that's aware of the existence of Bitcoin.

Indeed, it is a rare phenomenon when such lessons related to cryptocurrencies are taught in schools. The trend is still gaining momentum. It is not surprising. In the modern technological world, such knowledge should exist, and not be taught, which has long been morally outdated and this knowledge cannot be applied anywhere.

Don't worry. If children are interested in crypto, they will be happy to study the material provided. This is no different from other classes. I am glad that at least somewhere the authorities have taken a different path of youth development and strive to put relevant knowledge into their heads from a young age.

I believe that there should not be lot of importance given to returns when teaching young students about bitcoin. Because this might result in them getting addicted to bitcoin investing. At that age, their primary focus should be studies and developing skills.

It would be great to gather the general knowledge about BTC and its cycles and so on to these students so that they would be able to pursue the space afterward - that would be the best way, in my opinion.

The initiatives they did to visit school academies are good, but don't they seem late? because here in our country in 2018 it was started here that if you even call it a caravan session in every academy that a group of crypto communities will go to.

Yes I am from Indonesia, and it's not even a routine extracurricular, it's just a one-time program requested by the school to a community called Bitcoin Indonesia, so they will make a one day event that talk about Bitcoin in a school that invite them. And as far as know, there hasn't been any school that has blockchain specifically for extracurricular, when I wrote 'And I also hope that they not just teach about Bitcoin but also the blockchain technology in general,' I mean in the future so currently I don't think there is any school that teaches blockchain or Bitcoin.

If they are just focused on promoting bitcoin as an investment to get rich then I don't see anything meaningful or commendable. Because investing is completely inappropriate for high school students, they should not be exposed to investing too early, especially highly volatile investments like bitcoin. As I said, it would be bad if they spend time searching for information about bitcoin on the internet and investing in bitcoin, they may fall into scams or lose focus on studying.

Because the foundation of Blockchain is definitely the decentralization, for me that's the main idea, where there is no single entity that control the whole data. And even though Ethereum could be the example of the very successful Blockchain project, it's definitely not a decentralized Blockchain.

As long as they have basic knowledge of blockchain, they will figure out the relevant things themselves, you don't need to worry too much about it and don't need to be too discriminatory or prejudiced. As long as they are fully educated about blockchain, that's a good thing.

Forget about these kids buying and holding Bitcoin. They might even go one step ahead and create some of the best, most useful, promising new coins to the industry. These kids will have a bright future and by introducing Bitcoin early in on their education will surely prepare them for their future that I am talking about. They might grow up to be the brightest and sharpest minds of the generation and even be a developer or a miner and help Bitcoin propel forward. Good step for these kids and I hope this is only the start and more kids learn about Bitcoin in different parts of the world as well.

Hehe why would they go and focus on altcoins when they may have already shown to the world that they’re advocates of bitcoin. This will really tarnish the image of bitcoin there, people will run away from anything cryptocurrency after failing to understand what distinguishes between altcoin and bitcoin. Giving signals which are under probability is another risky thing for people getting to know about bitcoin in such place.

They may not want to be on the losing end, even when they don’t come out plainly to show where their support is, they’re already showing some interest in the technology even when they always say a lot of negative things about it, it refuses to falter or make any excuse not to continue its existence and growth over the years from the time of its inception. They may also be training the students for their own good but I don’t think we should give them that big hype yet until we see the actual outcome and purpose of doing this.

Hmm, that's a good startup. It seems like the age of these kids is perfect for learning about some basics of the financial sector. It will greatly help them build up an investment mindset, and they can achieve big things at a comparatively small age.

Honestly speaking the numbers are not quite big but it can be called a decent start as I cant even see a single student learning about Bitcoin so yup it can be called leading the way for others to take initiative.

Definitely, I don't know if they do that in that specific program, but as far as I know, most of Bitcoin community or crypto influencer in Indonesia, mostly talk about Bitcoin and crypto in general as an investment, and only discuss about bitcoin and crypto as in it's monetary and financial function, I barely find any discussion or event that talk about the underlying technology or engineering that related to blockchain. This might be related to the sponsorship, since most (if not all) of Crypto and Bitcoin event are sponsored by Crypto Exchange, and as a sponsor they expect some return, at least an exposure. But also, the only industry that related to blockchain and crypto that is growing in Indonesia is only crypto exchange, so there is not many option.

All this education should be given to high school students because the topics being taught to students are not applicable to primary level students and they will not be able to gather any knowledge about Bitcoin. However, college and university level students can definitely gain knowledge about Bitcoin, overall use of Bitcoin, control strategy of Bitcoin in inflation, etc.
