Atto (ATTO): The Fastest Cryptocurrency in the World — Built for AI Agents
We’re not fast. We’re the fastest
Atto (ATTO) is a live, open-source Layer 1 cryptocurrency for instant, feeless micropayments. You can connect an AI assistant to an Atto wallet today, approve a spending allowance and let it send payments within those limits.
I built Atto to work as cash. An agent might need one API response, one tool call or a small amount of compute to finish a task. Paying for each use makes sense when the transfer is fast and the fee doesn’t swallow the payment.
With Atto, send 1 ATTO and the recipient receives 1 ATTO. The protocol charges zero transaction fees, including on tiny payments.
Connect an AI agent |
Try the faucetAn agent wallet you can use todayAtto MCP connects a compatible AI assistant to a local wallet through the
Model Context Protocol (MCP). Start with balance checks, payment history and incoming-payment watches. When you want the agent to pay, approve the accounts it may use, a per-payment cap and a rolling spending cap in your own terminal.
A dedicated wallet keeps the agent’s working balance separate from your other funds. Your locally approved allowance governs payments made through that MCP wallet profile. Setup requirements and approval details are in the
Atto MCP guide.
MCP and the CLI are available in beta on the live network. Other ways to build with Atto include:
- Atto CLI — Send, receive and inspect ATTO from your terminal, with structured output for scripts.
- Atto for N8N — Add payment actions and incoming-payment triggers to self-hosted workflows.
- Atto Commons — Build applications with libraries for protocol types, network clients, wallets, signing and proof-of-work.
The
developer documentation also covers REST and streaming APIs and self-hosted node, wallet and work services.
Next: pay for a request and get the resultThe wallet tools can already move ATTO. I’m now building the paid-request flow: an API or tool asks for payment, the client pays, and the service verifies it before returning the result. This x402-style integration is in progress.
The planned
atto.market beta follows: a small catalog of paid APIs, MCP tools and agent services. The goal is for an agent to discover a service, inspect its price and inputs, pay, and use the result.
Roadmap: shipped work, current development and planned servicesHow Atto confirms paymentsAtto uses
parallel account chains and
Open Representative Voting (ORV). Each account maintains its own chain. Representatives use delegated voting weight to confirm transactions, while independent accounts can progress in parallel. Each transaction also carries a small proof-of-work requirement to slow spam.
The 13 September 2026 network snapshot shows a seven-day median confirmation of
221 ms — about
0.2 seconds. The timer follows a transaction from arrival at a node to storage after confirmation. This is transaction confirmation, not a block interval. One confirmation is final under the protocol’s consensus assumptions.
Once a Send confirms, the recipient can claim the funds through a separate receive operation. Wallet preparation, transport to the node and receiving sit outside that confirmation measurement.
I also publish
single-host Atto, Nano and RSNano implementation benchmarks with pinned software versions and reproduction instructions.

Measurement scope |
Technical whitepaperATTO: supply, distribution and participationATTO is the network’s native currency and supports nine decimal places. Its
fixed supply of 18 billion ATTO was created at genesis on 23 November 2024.
I’ve funded Atto without an ICO, private token sale or venture-capital round. I believe people should be able to obtain new money by participating in its network.
The original allocation was 35% for network incentives, 40% for development, 24% for community rewards and 1% for the founder.
Existing coins enter circulation through the faucet, staking and contribution rewards, and the Folding@Home programme, which rewards computing work for scientific research. All rewards come from the existing supply under each programme’s rules.
Distribution is still underway, and voting weight is not yet as broad as I want it to be. Current circulating supply and representative weights are public so you can inspect them yourself.

If you’re building an API or tool that could charge per request, tell me what it does and what a useful payment flow would look like. If you want to run infrastructure or contribute, the
