I think the ETF approval in the US may be closely related to that decrease. If BlackRock (!!) manages a Bitcoin ETF, then it's sorta unlikely that it is dead.

For me it was very interesting how Mr. Schaaf and Mr. Bindseil from the European Central Bank changed their mind in these last two years. In 2022, they recommended everybody to sell at $20.000. This was perhaps one of the most high-profile obituaries in the whole 99bitcoins list (after the Wired one in ... 2012?). In 2024, they warn that Bitcoin could become too expensive and their investors too wealthy. They can't approve that obviously as these stubborn nerds would compete with ... securities, real estate and gold hoarders from well-established families in Europe and the US?

But I agree with @Plaguedeath that if the market was more bearish we could again see more obituaries again.

I also agree somewhat with somebody I almost never agree, with @mindrust. If the market becomes too euphoric in the next years, then that could be a indicator for a longer-term cycle top. Not the "commonplace" 4-year top but something longer, perhaps 6 or 8 years.

I also don't give up on the currency aspect. That could return soon if L2s become better and more popular.

Another thing is I believe there are some on the list that just manipulating the price of Bitcoin, for example, they are telling Bitcoin is dead just to make the price dump so they can buy more cheaper Bitcoins.

I believe in this too and that is why I always say that we should look at what they do instead of listening to what they say because when it comes to investing, the winner is the one who makes the most profit, not who is right or wrong. The rich, the banks... they always know how to prevent the masses from accessing wealth and find ways to appropriate it for themselves. Their constant badmouthing or public criticism of bitcoin is sometimes just a ploy to distract the crowd. Many people feel hate or gloat when they see bitcoin price rise and say they are wrong but really don't know who is making the most profit when bitcoin price rises.

Looking at that chart and the way things are going, I think it will be the opposite. I don't know if you mean that sarcastically. By 2025 we can clearly have like $300K per bitcoin plus USA and some of its states like Pennsylvania or Texas buying for their stockpile and other FOMOing states.

You'd have to be a real moron to be dedicated to predicting the death of bitcoin then.

You cant please anyone on which if there are people who are optimistic about Bitcoin then there would really be those people who are considered to be perma-bears on which they will really be always having something to say whenever it do make out some price decrease. We do know that a market does have its up and downs on which its normal that there would really be those people will really be always has something to say whenever it do make out some huge or deep correction. Just like on what you had noticed about the decrease of those "Bitcoin is dead" calls had become that lesser as the years passing by.

This do simply means that recognition and adoption is something that becoming even more rampant and more better on which those negative words arent really that common anymore.
This has been started on the moment or time that institutional funds are really that flowing into this market. Adoption is something which is really that on the move
and this is something which is really that very good to see or look at specially into those who have holding it for so long.

Regardless of the fact that there are (perhaps) fewer such articles, most people still can't say two meaningful sentences about BTC, and 90% think it's some kind of Ponzi scheme that will fail sooner or later. I'm kind of glad that articles like this still see the light of day, because then maybe people like them feel better thinking they were right.

I personally know some people who said that BTC would collapse and that it was a scam, and every time they ask me about it I say that they were right and that everything collapsed. With people like that, it's just the easiest thing to do.

I have been long ignored post and articles about "Bitcoin is dead" stuff.  I believe those people who brought up this stuff are not Bitcoin haters at all but people who wanted to manipulate the market and pull down Bitcoin price for them to catch some weakhands' stash.

I am with you in thinking that this kind of stuff is non-sense at all since we have seen that the Bitcoin market have high liquidity even on its bear market.

I personally know some people who said that BTC would collapse and that it was a scam, and every time they ask me about it I say that they were right and that everything collapsed. With people like that, it's just the easiest thing to do.

I also have first hand experience hearing this kind of statement, I explained but dared not argue and let them be fixated on what they thought, and time had proven them wrong looking at how Bitcoin had been faring ever since.

It's funny to see that even in the year when bitcoin reached $100k (and this is not the limit), this asset was predicted to die (six times!). Just think about it, an asset with a capitalization of ~$1.9 trillion and a history of existence of a decade and a half. I can only say that there will never be an end to idiots in this world. What other arguments do they need to finally believe that death is no longer a threat to the bitcoin?

Been a fan of the 99bitcoins website, started doing faucets back in 2015 when I started "bitcoining" - that obituaries section made me laugh out loud and roll eyeballs. A lot of FUD existed at that time around bitcoin and situation was no good with exchanges and all back then, so I had my skepticism about bitcoin and read more than I actually did anything.

Either way, in this forum we all know that bitcoin can never be dead. But go outside the forum, the world does not look at bitcoin with such rosy glasses, its a fact.

These bitcoin obituaries will reduced in time, but we can never expect that this will come to an end soon. Despite of the increasing number of bitcoin supporters that are looking forward for bitcoin’s bright future, there are still few negative people left that will focus on bitcoin’s volatility and price crash, and when it happens, these “bitcoin is  dead” obituaries will create a noise again in the media, most particularly in the social media. And we can’t stop these authors but will only accept that bitcoin will always be criticized no matter what the season is.
