What exact message would you ideally like to convey through the flag?

What exact message would you ideally like to convey through the flag?

1. The fiat money should be replaced with bitcoin to protect peoples of the world from seigniorage
2. might be some additional things related to GPL, to the right to access to the internet

Right now I think about big yellow "B" sign over red surface (red color, lot of blood is specific of the country)

About the form of the flag, there are two variants:
- conventional flag-on-the-rod

- old combat style:

I like the last one (because i think it is easier to use)

While this would look cool as a banner on a website or on a poster, I don't see anyone being able to easily make it into a fabric flag. Overlapping stripes and colors and gradients are pretty much impossible.

I feel like a red flag with a yellow B is too similar to the Russian/soviet-era flags.  I guess that isn't a bad thing, but I would prefer something less politically based.  Considering this is for Russia, I guess it would work though.

I also thought about using 3D Globe ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=9344.0 ) as surface,

but decided, that it will be difficult to materialize (as your commented).

For controversial impact...

...these motifs could be merged.

I only mean for the shock value. I think the "B" could nicely replace the circular Pepsi logo, the Hammer and Sickle, the Swastika, sign of the beast, the flag of India, Japan, Greenland, North and South Korea, the Rotary Club, the dead faces on the US dollar, the rabbit in the moon, the guiding stars and halos over christ in a manger, AT&T, the EU stars, Master-Card, LG, Nasa, GE, sideways to replace the McDonald's arches, the ankh, yin-yang, notes on music sheets, ...

Greenlandic tupilak. Hand carved, traditional cursed bone figures. Sorry, polar bear, walrus and human remains not available for export.

edit: Just FYI, in Russia, Communism isn't that controversial (or, more precisely, it's controversial but you won't shock anyone with a hammer and sickle)... the Communist Party gets a significant portion of the vote regularly.

Not particularly relevant to Russian protests, but, this is my line of thinking.

It is very interesting idea about merging I and O into "Ф" symbol,
but i think that from practical point of view it will be more useful just to write "bitcoin.org"

The color choice is very important because it's directly connected to people's perception.

While yellow on red is very "revolutionary", russia would just see it as a variant communist flag

Yellow on blue is very "european union", so still not promoting independence

Anything on green is too relaxed

Anything on black is violent

Damn, Russia is complicated :/

In any case, when you agree on a color combination, then you can start adding details Smiley

It needs to stand for complete freedom. Wish some colors could describe that.
