We don't have the full details of the story to know the level of insanity the OP was referring to. There Bipolar disorder is a type of insanity. People who suffer from it have extreme move swings, yet they are able to function to a level just like other regular humans. But people who are sufferring from schizophrenia don't have control of their cognitive functions. Aside these two, there are other categories of abnormal disorders which lay people like us would simply classify as "insane".

The insane person whom the OP may be describing might have been someone with a gambling history, who still has some conitive functions in place and doesn't before erractic like a schizophrenic. Our conclusion on if this is a myth or not schould be drawn if the OP can give us more details on the medical history of the "insane" person.

Stories of an insane person giving some bet odds to gamblers for their wins would easily make headlines news if the bets were to predicted correctly but the ones the insane people made a wrong prediction, would not be talked about because having some game odds from an insane person and expect a win is an insane act.

Many of us as humans, easily spread news of what is thought to be impossible happens to them. They won't in the same hand spread the news when something bad happened to them.

If your friend has had a wrong bet given to him by the madman, he won't have talked about his encounter with the madman with you, he would let it die off because it's not worth talking about. Now, he has won, he's sharing the experience with you. Making you believe such a thing works, while it doesn't always.

However, receiving game bets from an insane person can be a loss bet also I have seen it happen countless times when someone thought the bets given to them by a mad being would be sure bets, and they end up losing. They really don't talk about it to people because they will call them stupid for thinking that receiving bets odds from a mad person would work as their gambling win

Well it hasn’t happened to me personally but I have also heard stories from people who are close to me about how someone went to meet an insane person and got predictions from them and it turned out to be correct.

And what has made me believe in such stories is due to the fact that whenever I’m passing through a physical gambling shop I tend to notice someone of these insane people hanging around the shop (not all of them though, just a few of them) and so it’s possible for punters to just walk up to them and give them a little token for their predictions believing it will be correct.

But like I said, I haven’t had a personal encounter with them and I’m not planning on changing it but from the stories told to me it could be a real thing or just some superstition.

In the end, this is the same as when we believe in something in terms of gambling myths where luck is always there when we try to do it, such as in my area which in fact always makes dreams for benchmark numbers in lotteries and so on.

This is not much different from the case you encountered because in the end nothing can really be confirmed with confidence that it becomes a truth, even though there is some evidence but in the end things like this just go back to luck and it could be that the level of luck you asked even though it was not too sane but it had great luck so that it always benefited every time it said something to bet.
I don't believe this to be true but on some occasions these coincidences do happen.

I remember very well the year 2003 with lotto clubs pumping all over the Western Balkan and some dude in Albania, he had a hairdresser shop, he claimed to be the master of disaster and people were making fun of him, me too was one of them as this guy played the maximum allowed at that time in a multi which was 10 games max and he kept betting on 10 draws making the odds extremely high and impossible to hit. This guy did hit it once and got the max allowed back then about 100.000 dollars in local currency with a minimum of 0.50 dollars as his bet. We surely did not made anymore fun of him and started calling him the Champion of betting, he did not win anymore yet for us he still remained the Champion, no one has ever managed to equalize his records up until now, so some crazy persons like this guy can sure make wonders when luck hit in their favor. I personally don't know anyone else to have hit 10 x games with massive odds like this guy did.

This is big thing in country where people go about looking for mentally challenged people asking them for possible winning games or Number depending on their choice of gambling.
I don't know the logic behind this but I believe it's superstition regardless is still very popular with very experienced and intelligent people partaking in it.
It has gotten so bad that the mentality challenged people who has no one taking care of them going about giving out games in exchange for food or money.
What ever reason why people do it I still believe we should respect the ill and not drag them into things like this.

If this is real and generally applicable, then people gambling would have been running to the mad persons and be looking for odds and games to play, but most of the things in this regard are more of being superstitious, which many don't really believe in them, while on many cases, they are not ordinarily happening, instead, being a planned occurrence in other to deceive people with the mentality in their minds, we can on our own self win and lose to gambling without going the way way.

Stories like this seem common even if I have not experienced this before or witnessed someone celebrating a win as a result of receiving odds from a mad person. Why am I forced to believe stories like this happen in reality, there’s more information attached to abnormal people not just gambling win definitely I considered all this as false story meanwhile gambling might be different. I will love to share my honest opinion regarding gambling win, gamblers don’t intend to share their lose but, winning always comes with joy that’s the reason I don’t believe this information. There’s a probability most people lose after following this step yet we the public only get to see the winning part maybe they’re trying to create a false narrative, I will not be surprised if gamblers start begging for odds from a mad person just for a win.

this has never happened to me but this reminds me of people who claim to have dreamed of a certain sequence of numbers and used those numbers(as you mentioned in your post) to bet on a lottery and win. there is no way to verify if those claims are true are true or not but what I do know is that sometimes people love to make fake scenarios to sensationalize their win on gambling.

I am a slot gambler, but for me stories like that are just myths or facts but no one really knows. Crazy people tell the truth and luck in any betting game I think it's just our skill in betting. Does it make sense, if a crazy person whispers to us, play this game you will win big, in fact it doesn't in my opinion.

Even so, I think people who gamble or play slots sometimes talk beyond their common sense because they are influenced by a bad mentality due to defeat.

For that, I myself win or lose it has nothing to do with anything. There is no superstition that can be read to conquer the dealer, there is only one way, namely peace of mind when betting will be able to defeat the dealer, yes that's just my thought when playing slots.

But sorry, I personally am not really sure  about this kind of story or history because apparently, no type of gambling is mentioned. About, did the insane give out a number to bet on the lottery, or did the insane give out a pick for a team in sports betting, or something else? But regardless, if the history  is factual then still, it's just luck and even if we try to go back at least to give a few percent of the winnings and then ask for the prediction again, it's  not necessarily going to make us win the second time. So, because this is gambling which is a game of luck, then even if we get free predictions from anyone, then if we want to use them it is certainly not a problem as long as we only bet with money  that we can be responsible for.

This reminds me of the cases I have seen whenever the World Cup games start, people appear who consider themselves psychic and make predictions about who will win the World Cup. The funny thing is that when journalists ask these people questions, I only hear two questions: who do they think will win the World Cup and why? and the psychics respond: the winner of the world cup will be team X, according to what the spirits are telling me. and the journalists are left without questions. probably because like them and also me and many other people we can't see the spirits, so we can't say that the psychics are wrong until the world cup games are over and a team that the psychics haven't mentioned wins. By this I mean that it is complicated to argue with these guys who consider themselves psychic.

Honestly I just heard about this, and I think in the end it's actually nothing more than a coincidence, if you think about it of course it's very extraordinary, a kind of clue but if you examine it I'm sure you will never be able to find the reason and the truth, meaning maybe as many people often say that you were very lucky at that time and your luck came through the scenario of the crazy person.

On the other hand I believe in your story and maybe I would say that don't let such an incident change your perspective on gambling, don't let you have the thought of looking for crazy people and asking them for advice to predict, LOL, stick to the understanding that all of that is nothing more than a coincidence.

Yeah, most likely this is what we cling upon, we have a thread about superstitious beliefs and we can see that most of us, because of our background cling on it. And we all know that everything is based on luck.

Good for you, and I do think that there are gamblers who don't believed on this kind of stories. It's because we do think logically and again, everything is based on pure luck. Maybe this story happen but it's all coincidence for me.

Always make it as a principle to never trust someone stranger, most of the scammers tactics fell on misleading people to making traps through 100% potential odds. The promises tend to be catching most attention, as they anticipated several reactions to be possible to gain lots of victims.

I have also heard of similar stories when someone asked a random person, or even more, there were stories when some animals predicted the scores of future games by nodding or making sounds in a certain way. People want to believe in miracles. Some are ready for special rituals to control their luck. But for me, it looks like a simple coincidence, an accident, and nothing more. I have never met people who were able to predict the outcome of games regularly and make a correct forecast. Perhaps we need to change our thinking so that miracles begin to happen to us, but for now, I am too skeptical of everything inexplicable.

This is a common saying in my neighborhood that mad people often gives correct predictions but I don't know how true it is because I've not received any from them. Although I've seen some shabbily dressed people who walk up to me and ask if I'm into lotto, that they have sure bets and they're willing to share it with me, I always politely decline such offers. This practice of insane and shabbily dressed people who give "sure bets" as they call it is mainly in Lotto games in my area. A few might have this gift of accurate predictions but I believe that most of them are scammers because the ones that goes about with the so called sure bets are looking for who will exchange their predictions with money.

It's crazy what will people conceive to make them FEEL like they will have better odds.

My mum was a hair dresser and there was this colleague she had who was gay, every time he would go to the casino he would insist upon bringing her because he considered her good luck. She never went except once because he was so insistent. And he lost everything he brought, so he never talked to her about it again.

If someone thinks he's going to have better odds at gambling by asking a person who is mental, then I think the insane one is the one asking. Honestly, leave the people in need alone and out of your own habits.

Even if it is real, running to insane people would still not yield any result because it is rare to see an insane person do such not to talk of others that do not even have such thought if at all they have clues about gambling odds. It is true that occurrence of such is not ordinary and some people would attach it to the art of being favored by what they believe in or whatsoever.  The best one could do is to play a game based on their analysis and skills and leave the rest to luck to shine on them and nothing much. It is either one wins or they loss that is the only result that one could get while gambling and that's all.

I never had experience like this since here in my city there is no crazy person last time about insane person is when I was in the middle school I don't know where those all the people are right now.

But in my opinion Receiving game odds  from insane person to gamble is the same like you get a number to play from Psychic and you believe it or something like you put the bet on FIFA from the octopus or other animal for me all of thoose just pure coincidence or just pure luck
