Gambling as a reflection of our personality

I don’t see how gambling would affect my personality outside of gambling itself and I don’t really think you made a convincing argument that it does. I could maybe see how a certainly personality type would be attracted to gambling over a different personality type, but I don’t see how gambling could influence that personality type.

Yeah, you are Og because when I gamble how would the next person knows that I am gambling if not for locally based casinos where it would be that open for people to start observing that a personality or a dignity and respectful person is gambling to affect their life [gambling is not a bad thing if properly controlled]. If someone gamble online I don't think anyone would know that such dignity is gambling. Btw I don't really see this topic  to be that convincible to me.

I was just have this thoughts, as we have been saying, to be not addicted to gambling, we should have self-control. But as much as we know this advise or saying, there are still a lot of people falling for gambling and I just thought that it could be their personality. I mean if they have the correct decision making, then no one will fall for being addicted. And then there is also the case of high risk takers vs those people who doesn't like high risk and just play for the normal.

What you should know is that addiction don't come naturally, it is a frequent practice of gambling that leads to addiction and as soon as it reaches that level of addiction, self-control becomes difficult because even when you feel like controlling your attention for gambling, you will still end up falling to it since it's something that is developed gradually till it becomes a habit. No matter how disciplined someone is, when they fall into addiction it is always hard to maintain same level of discipline because you will now believe in making several attempts in order to achieve your target which if you quit at that point, it will look as if you are a failure and for you not to see yourself as a failure you will surely continue trying if you can succeed. Whether high or low risks takers, anyone can fall for addiction depending on how you build your mind and how much time you spend in gambling.

We do say that everyone doesn't have the same character, attitude or morals towards life and the kind of attitude that  one has will also have effect on their decision making and gambling has to do with making decisions so it's totally correct to say that while a person gambles they can reflect their personality. That's not true. Gambling isn't the reflection of our personality. Everyone feels happy if they were able to make a good sum of money through some means. Whether it be gambling or some profession. When they don't have any other go, they land into gambling, and that doesn't mean the person is looking for easy money. Overly conscious about money is not real. The majority just have the mentality to have their life uplifted. Maybe we can also have a little sophistication and better financial growth, which is a common expectation of humans. When they don't have any other go, the mind looks upon maybe we can get this through gambling. That's it, and there is nothing to connect gambling along with one's personality.

I have always been that guy who doesn't joke with his rules; I don't like compromising, even in terms of financial decisions. It is hard for me to go against the budget, and this has been the way I follow up with gambling.
 
Even if I gamble up to the extent that I lose all that I have deposited, my emotions want to lead me to do extra deposits. My self-control doesn't allow me to break that rule, which has been keeping me checked. Personality actually does have a role to play in determining how someone gets addicted to gambling.

I think that gambling can reflect certain aspects of a person's character, but not their entire character. This is because gambling behavior is complex and influenced by multiple factors, making it difficult to completely attribute it to one's character

I don't know how you want to interpret it, but it's confusing when you mention MJ, his game in the NBA is not a reflection of how he bets, he's a compulsive gambler, I'm not saying it, it's documented... even his ex has mentioned him as a compulsive gambler, what happens is that he has an infinite bankroll.

Exactly, gambling sure have a way of revealing one's personality most times, you might be hiding some of this traits but once you're addicted to gambling you'll see all of it reflecting. Mostly this happens when a gambler has really lost a huge sum to it and it's always thinking of chasing over them, and I don't know if it does but what I know is I'm a responsible gambler and at such such personality are sure rare to be seen in me.

How about me, Do I think this reflects my personality hmm this is a hard question, tho same as you said before that usually I tell other to not addicted to gambling and tell them to control their emotion their budget and etc. But the fact is It just didnt work for me.

Advice that I tell to other people didnt work for me I know sometimes it does work but sometimes I just blind follow my emotion so what do u think ?

I have some similarities with your gambling behavior. I just say that everyone has a different perspective on gambling. We focus on self-control in gambling, but in reality, a gambler does whatever he wants, which we can take as a reflection of his personality. I am not a addicted gambler, but when I gamble and I lose all my money i try to do that by depositing more to according to my desire, I try to keep trying again. If I want something, I try my best until I get it. Maybe many people think of this as negative, but that is not always the case. That is why I would not call it an addiction, but we can say a reflection of a personality in gambling.

I don't think we can interpret gambling as a reflection of our personality in dealing with the life problems we face. Of course the concept is very different when dealing with something like this, Even though the concept is about making money, everything is full of uncertainty in making money. No matter how patient you are in gambling, you will not be able to fight the site builder or the bookie. You will definitely lose money and lose your money because of the system created by the site creator. It's different if you run a business, even though it is full of uncertainty in finding money or customers, and at least many have succeeded in building their business venture.

We all have greed and only very few gamblers can control theirs.

Also those who have the best personalities still make mistakes apart from gambling, personality won't safe you from losing money in something like gambling or something thats similar, you got to work on discipline.

I choose to disagree with you on this. Personality has everything to do with gambling, and how you react to your real-life event is the same way you will directly react to gambling. It's as simple as that. If you are the type that doesn't stick to your own decisions, it will be hard for you to abide by those rules in gambling.

Well that's right, when someone is faced with gambling then there will be two possibilities that will happen to them, either they will become addicted because they are blinded by the opportunity to win or they will realize that this is a game that only has a big chance of losing money. Most people who gamble always end up miserably addicted or addicted to gambling no matter how much they lose but when they are blinded by victory then their focus will only be on pursuing victory.
