What I meant to say is that money can't buy everything, including genuine human feelings. If someone accepts to get close to you because you are wealthy, this is pretentious and hypocritical, not an acceptable sympathetic reaction.

Some people enjoy using money to exploit and humiliate others, or they don't hesitate to do anything to gain money, including putting on a fake face and acting friendly to get close to those who have money.

Unfortunately, the capitalist system has forced us to give up part of our humanity for materialistic greed, and that's why we still find debates and discussions about the true nature of money and its specific function.
I believe the concept of "money" has become more complex and is not limited to the linguistic concept.

Actually this situation isn't limited to the Americans only but extends to other societies as we now live in a world where money is now given a central place of things shaping people's actions and inactions. Certain situations are that, it's either the people has been suppressed through the power of money that they can do nothing but only hope for some changes to the stronghold of the powerful rich on them.
Another scenario is that in a world where the rich controls almost all the structures the rest of the people would be helpless trying to stand-up for themselves. They could even make it seam like a crime challenging the order of things.

Modern civilization is based on money, although the current banking system and the governments of different countries are making you slaves and exchanging the printed money they give you. If you consider the actual printed money, the government is drawing some pictures on the paper to make you understand which one is $50 or which is $100 which we are forced to digest. But basically without these drawings, the paper has no value because it is the different monetary system of each country which is determined by the central Federal Reserve of that country.

Yet you are giving yourself to worthless paper money because you need a lot of money to survive and you will need those pieces of paper to buy physical assets. Money does not guarantee happiness, though. It is true that money can be a very efficient and beneficial tool which can make our life easier, but money itself cannot be considered to be a key to reach happiness or a long and satisfying life.
