Jon Collins-Black, a web entrepreneur and early Bitcoin investor, made his fortune by selling a website and hodling his Bitcoin from the early days. He wrote a book, There's Treasure Inside, which contain all the instructions and hints required to get the loot. Collins-Black commissioned five unique puzzle boxes, which have been scattered across the United States, four of similar sizes and then one larger box containing the lion’s share of the fortune.
“We’re in a digital world and what I’ve put together is an analog adventure,” he says of his new book There’s Treasure Inside. “All you need is a book, some water and some shoes.” The treasure contains one of the physical Bitcoins by Casascius. So, why did this guy do this? Just for fun! “At the end of the day, there’s value to the excitement and the joy of the experience,” he says. “That sounds like cliché but for me, when I was searching for Forrest Fenn’s treasure, it was the idea of it that was most exciting. If I had found the treasure it would have been euphoric, but I don't know if it would have exceeded the total joy that I had just through the whole process of it.”

That sounds and resembles a Cipher hunt for me - an ARG of sorts. And that's a wonderful thing if it's done properly. Different things blend in to create an adventure worth remembering. There are relics of the old, an Olympian medal, and there also should of been something from Einstein, but Jon lost it in a bidding war ( source ). Interesting to see what would be in the biggest chest.

It seems like a good scenario for an adventure series that could become very popular in our time, based on the idea related to Bitcoin and other values that are interesting to humanity. However, in his book, Bitcoin looks like something material; if you read the announcement, it talks about objects. Certainly, today's price for his book is quite symbolic money, but the idea could be interesting for many directors.

That's a great way to advertise your book and increase your sales. He will get all sorts of people buying it now. With a good marketing plan and well-placed ads, he might earn more than the value of the treasures in the end. I am sure that all kind of adventurers and puzzle lovers will line up and go on a hunt, both for the thrill of it and expecting a huge payday.

Yep, there are many things in here to catch - most of them are the relics of the past bought on the money from BTC in the early days, however - it's still a thrilling experience for sure. Jon knows how to get people interested.

Maybe all this was a strategy to promote his book, just think about it, for sure a lot of people will buy it to find the different hints and try to solve the puzzle. For sure it is worth it to give it a read.
If the picture is legit, the amount of gold in that box is just insane, a real treasure that could change the life of anyone. The question is how long it would take for people to solve the puzzle.

In the end this is just a marketing technique, we know that the lower class of society has very high hopes of getting lucky in life in the easiest way they can do such as gambling and looking for treasures like this, he associated it with bitcoin it became one of the assets that was discussed at a very expensive price. What we don't know is how much money he made from selling his book, and he got the difference between the sales profit and the capital he spent to finance his marketing in this way. that's great.

Sales strategy- commission some treasure boxes, then write and sell a book about how to find those boxes, surely people are going to buy your book and try their luck, that way you drive up sale of your book and make more money. I believe we do not know all that's in each of the boxes and the photo in the op looks exaggerated, however, it could take years before these boxes are found and in the meantime he makes money from book sales.

definitely people are going to think that there is something that could make them rich that is in the box and the money they spend on the book would be worth it because whatever treasure they find would be worth more than the book If the picture is legit, the amount of gold in that box is just insane, a real treasure that could change the life of anyone. The question is how long it would take for people to solve the puzzle.
for all we know maybe there really are no treasures and at the end there’s just some lesson to be learned when you get to the end of the book but that’s the thing no one actually knows unless you buy the book! great marketing

So, why did this guy do this? Just for fun!
He's been doing it for quite some time now and it shouldn't be said to be anything more than fun because after all he's already successful with what he's doing from his bitcoin adoption. The fact is that there are a lot of people who get this kind of happiness and it is undeniable for those who were in bitcoin for the initial period and still remain until now that they have certainly benefited a lot and we don't need to know how much assets they currently have because they must have been quite successful with their ownership. Now it's still not too late even though bitcoin is currently at $100k but of course it's never too late for this especially when looking at the bitcoin benchmark run out which is still a few decades away of course we don't need to worry too much about our adoption and the most important thing for now is to convince yourself that what happened to the people before us where many investors survived in the early period could happen to us in the future.

I think retiring and being able to do things with your time and money will bring amazing things to our society. This is just one example of that. Imagine if everyone could have the time and resources to create things for free. It would be a completely revolutionary place. Now most talent is wasted in offices.

Some things are stated, others - nah, but the strategy is a good one at that. People would flock to the banner of finding such relics.

So, why did this guy do this? Just for fun! This author has actually been playing with this idea a few years ago. Even during the pandemic, he was already launching a project to have people treasure hunt. But we have to realize that this kind of project requires time and effort which is why it is only now that he got to launch a project as big as this was. The reason why bitcoin was along the items to be hunted is so that different kinds of people will find something they are interested in and participate in the treasure hunt. These are what said to be in the stash: A fourth-century BCE gold Greek laurel, A coin designed and minted by Pablo Picasso, A rare lunar rock specimen, A Michael Jordan 1986 rookie card and the bitcoin of course. It is really interesting and I am quite excited to see who would find these items.

Exactly what I thought, the strategy is quite cliche to sell an autobiography book, in my opinion. Nevertheles, it is not a bad way to drive sales, a good way to boots its sales to people who loves adventure and riding the wave of hype of Bitcoin nowadays, kudos to him for having this idea. I believe, if later there will be news of a person who succeeded in solving the hints and find the loot, this will be a big news and boots this book's popularity and sales even more. I'd like to give this book a try when the news is out and hearing what people think about this book beforehand.

I'm curious about the treasure hunt, like non technical people must able to understand how to get those or like have some non technical clues that will lead find those treasures. And make just in case some non technical found it, they must able to claim it properly without losing it or being stolen by some scammers.

Imagine if everyone could have the time and resources to create things for free. It would be a completely revolutionary place. Now most talent is wasted in offices. Early retirement is not too bad if indeed we have a lot of bitcoin supply in the portopiolio because in the end those who get it just have to enjoy life well but on several occasions in the end a sense of dissatisfaction in themselves must exist so that indeed even though they have benefited a lot from bitcoin for some people working is still very doable but of course while enjoying the life they have to do of course. Businesses are now quite a lot and one of the highlights of the stories shared is of course sharing experiences such as making books or just motivational words that are also quite good because after all, seeing from the situation that happened they are quite worth talking more because in the end not many people can really survive with the portopolio they have and continue to hold back amid the onslaught of abundant profits from the initial adoption of bitcoin that was done.

I think most of the treasure is just physical things, so I don't think you should need any technical skills to get them. Maybe the casascius coin still has the bitcoin in it?, that might require a small amount of technical expertise. But overall, it seems like a good ol' treasure chest. Last time I checked it was sold out in amazon, so probably a lot of people are searching for it now.

You have to admit that the man has come up with a good strategy to promote his book, while also having a good time watching people search for his hidden treasure. However, this is something only for those who live in the US or who would be willing to travel there to try their luck at treasure hunting - the rest of us can only observe and wish luck to those who will start their search.
I remember that an older member of this forum hid something similar (paper wallets) around the world and that he even published it on the forum. It was a long time ago and I don't remember the exact name - I just remember that he had an avatar of a man holding a bow and arrow in the company of some natives.

It would be a fiasco if the profit from the sold books turned out to be less than the contents of the treasure box. The contents of the treasure chest in the pictures are too abundant in the number of gold items. It seems like a good scenario for an adventure series that could become very popular in our time, based on the idea related to Bitcoin and other values that are interesting to humanity. Certainly, today's price for his book is quite symbolic money, but the idea could be interesting for many directors. Directors may be interested in the idea of another treasure - Satoshi's wallet. This is a topic that can be speculated on with many scenarios, because it would be practically the most valuable (priceless) treasure of humanity.

Is that picture real? It looks too good to be true if you ask me, i don't think what is drawn in that picture is actually what is in all the boxes hidden in different locations in the United States. It would be a fiasco if the profit from the sold books turned out to be less than the contents of the treasure box. I am sure this is one angle that the author must have considered before doing this, so i believe he wouldn't do what he would regret, so even if it turns out that way, that will be that.
