We don't discuss our crypto holdings with friends, do you talk about money as an alternative instead? What I mean is like, talk about what you are doing, your side hustles and how much you're making from it. Is this something you and your friends are open about, or do you typically stick to safer topics like sports and politics? If you don't discuss money, why not? And if you do, how much are you comfortable sharing?"

it depends on how close i am to the person as well as what kind of a person i take him to be be. there are some kind of friends that i have that the highest we can talk of is academic or sports related topic and even when we want to talk about finance, it doesn't have to go above the surface probably because we are just casual friends and have not gotten all that close.

outside of that, when it comes to my real friend, i believe that it is only normal he gets to know a lot about my finance and what i do to earn a living. if someone you call your friend don't have the slightest knowledge about your finance, then the person is actually not your friend in the first place. of course there is always going to be some form of limitation most especially as regard how much i have saved or some things i have invested into. as much as you want to be open to your friend and expect them to remain open to you, there are things you should not bother knowing about them and there are things you should keep to yourself to help protect yourself. the person that is your friend today can in the next year turn out to become an enemy, it is not that you are expecting the worse but safety demands that you dont make yourself too susceptible to being taken advantage of.

Well, I’ve given them some ideas, but I don’t share the numbers. I know they’re aware I’ve made some profit in crypto since my lifestyle has changed, but I also understand the risk of sharing sensitive information, especially about my holdings. When it comes to money, you can’t trust everyone, even your closest friends, as you never know, and that's how you prevent bad things from happening.

Friends are in different categories, if it a friend that we belong to the same business line, then why not I will be free to discuss my profits and new ideas with the person this way we have some knowledge to share together that can help the both of our businesses, but if you talking about cryptocurrency holdings, then I will say no way, I can still discuss trading topics with few co trading friends, but my personal investment that one is for my own knowledge and privacy, I am not free to discuss that with any friends.

Main reason I don't discuss such money topics:

1: the nature of my environment, most of my offline friends that I can have money discussion with are not from my line of business, and some of them could perceive such discussion as a way of showing off how much money you have made, and this could give rise to jealousy and hatred most especially on most uneducated setting or mixture of uneducated and educated forks, so the way they covey themselves differs.

2: when it comes to cryptocurrency, privacy is always advised and for that we have to practice high privacy in other to safeguard ourselves, and keeping off troubles, but then there is always that sure friend that you can discuss anything with, and they don't possibly have to do your own kind of business or even leave around your environments.

Depends on the goal and the friends I met.

For sure I will not talk about crypto, specially about my investment.

If I met someone related with my jobs, I will talk about money, because I want to know if I got paid lower or higher than the job market. Even we can search how much our position get paid, but the reality sometimes different.

But, if I met my old friends, close friends etc that not related anything to my jobs, I will not talk about money.

Just let you know, there's a different between friends without money oriented and friends with money oriented, you can't mix both of them.

Yes, we talk about many things with closest friends, not just talk about crypto holdings but we never ask what coins we have because that is our private. But when we talk about other things such as business, job, or even families, we can feel comfortable because they are my closest friends who will help us if we have a problem.

We are comfortable to share many things with closest friends because they will be beside us and give help and that is not just for money but other things. It is nice to have such friends who will always listen to us and vice versa.

I'm not comfortable discussing my finances with my friends, and I'm also not keen on asking them about their finances. There will be a point where one of us will be discriminated against or feel that one is better than the other. They can open their finances to me, but I have a reservation when it comes to mine. I just don't want comparison between friends; there are many things to talk about besides money.
The last time I talked about it with a friend, we ended the conversation with him asking me to lend him; I have no  choice but to give in.

Oh hell no! I never discuss my own money related matters with my friends. Same goes for my relatives as well. Evil eye is real. You won't understand it unless you have experienced it. So it's better not to speak money to anyone.

We talk about stock market investing and general economy related matters but when it comes to my money and investment, it's a big no no! Especially, be very careful about your crypto holding. Even my financial planner doesn't know about it!

It depends on my level of friendship with someone because if I trust them, I would share what I know and possibly help them achieve something they could do. For example, with my close friends, I tried to let them know, and they just did what they thought they were supposed to, but not everyone I told to buy Bitcoin did it. It comes with a person because it depends on their attitude about whether they would do something or not.

I can discuss about cryptocurrency and not a total of my holdings or allocation for security purposes since lot of things are happening now and we can't trust anyone out there. Discussion that ultimately needs me to tell them my total holdings are off from the conversion as I wouldn't like to reveal what I have or how much I earn through cryptocurrency, we can share ideas of coins to invest and not to invest but anything above that is entirely against me.

In my opinion, if what is meant is talking about the nominal or assets that we have, it is risky, because we never know what is on someone's mind even though they are friends. Because money is sensitive and money can change a person's character. But if we talk about business opportunities or crypto in general, that's what I do. Sharing experiences or knowledge with others is a good thing and it is very enjoyable. I believe we should have an environment like that, an environment that will talk about opportunities or the future rather than an environment that doesn't know where it is going.

It seriously depends on the type of person in discussion with, for me I can discuss crypto topics with some friends without the need to discuss my actual Holdings, same way we can discuss business with friends who are business oriented without having to discuss my actual holdings too again, if it is a business you’re into and the person needs a guide you simply give them head ons like this is what profit you get if you invest so and so over a certain period of time, this doesn’t have to make you share your holdings at all.

But remember all this are discussion with people who want it but for general discussion I simply stick to other non-monetary activities most especially sport

What's the essence of our friendship when we can't discuss money? if my friends are crypto pros too crypto is the major topic we should be discussing and how we can multiply what we already have. Additionally, you don't have to tell anyone what you have but you can tell them anything close my friends are even far richer than I'm so when we talk about money it's to my benefits and learn more from their mistakes and success so it's even better you have circle of friends who are money oriented and understand you better never to complicate things.

I do it all the time. Actually most of the time it is the main topic of discussion. Business, stocks, crypto, interest rates, loan opportunities, real estate…

Politics is a hot topic too but it gets boring quickly.

Money on the other hand; no matter how much you have it, no matter how much you talk about it, you can’t have enough of it.

It is probably because my friends are just like me. Once we start talking about money, we can’t be stopped easily. There is always something new in the news and those news always affect the markets positively or negatively and just like that we have infinite material to talk about.

Actually no matter how private someone could be they can never be too uptight all the time because there is need to lose up sometimes, however I normally talked about money with my friends who are very dear to me but still I have my limitation to the extent I can go with the discussion, for instance I can never reveals the total amount I have on my bank account to my friends but we can talk about my monthly salary and other money we made from sales in a business, though I can only discuss this things to a friend who also trust me with his private information because this kind of discussion normally go in both ways and not just from one side because you can imagine how risky it can be when you are only the person revealing your secret all the time.

There is no problem in talking about money and economy with friends. You just shouldn't talk about your personal holdings, investments and goals. On the other hand, you can always use your personal experience to help and motivate someone else to also find potential solutions for their finances.

If you feel the conversation goes nicely and if it's being productive, go ahead. But if you feel like the other person can't get your point and don't understand what you mean, it's probably better to retreat and to stick to more common subjects such as: do you think it's going to rain today?  Cheesy

There are people you have as friends you know that stick closer than your family members around you those kind of friends will always engage in a different kind of conversation with you be it political, football and financial talks you will not hide it away from them especially if they are in the same line of business with you.

I share different kinds of update with my friends, we talk about business, money and how we can make more more but I try as much as possible not to disclose the amount I have in my accounts likewise my friends but we all know that we are making progress based on what we are all into.

Sharing anything with friends is very common. But it is better not to share money-related matters because some friends are very close but if for some reason there is a problem or the status of the friendship is compromised, then there can be problems or many times it has been seen that you do not feel safe on your own, especially when it comes to holding crypto. However, I have some friends whom I trust more than myself. Maybe many may consider this is my weakness, but those whom I trust will never try to harm me. Moreover, I do not want to see any situation where I feel disrespected towards my friends. I definitely try to maintain good communication between us.

I have several friends  and i participate in various types of discussions with different people. With some I share my financial matters and with some I discuss various topics of sports, politics or social work.

In the country where I live, the most dangerous conversations are not about money, but about politics.

However, in most cases, talking about money is also undesirable. This is especially true for talking about cryptocurrencies. I try to never touch on this topic when communicating with people offline. Such conversations can lead to negative consequences.

In general, any conversations about money can cause envy in other people (if these people are poor and have a hard time making ends meet).

At the same time, offline I have friends who are involved in investing. With them, you can discuss issues such as raising the central bank's key rate, investing in stocks and bonds (but not investing in cryptocurrencies).

Discussing business or money will depend on the individual and the environment. If I am around friends who are business minded and could give business advice or even introduce me to an opportunity, I would discuss business with them. But there are some friends who are good in politics or sports and are not business inclined, I wouldn't waste my time discussing business with them.

But I am not comfortable with telling people how much I make from my work or business except it is necessary. We might discuss potential investment areas or highly needed skills, but there will be restrictions because you don't trust people's confidential financial information.
