Currently spending the holiday (new year) in my native home with grandparents. Took the opportunity to prepare one of our native delicacy in a village-ish way ',lol, a dish that is very common with my home people as a local cuisine instead of going for the usual Nigerian jollof or soup. It will interest you all to know that this delicacy was cooked using firewoods. Yea, you read that right, firewoods. Delicacy name: Three leaf yam and gravi-pepper sauce stew, (known as Idowo in my local parlance). Pepper sauce ingredients : Crayfish Oil Red pepper Onions Scent leaves Maggi Maggi, salt. Preparatory process: For the three leaf yam after peeling, it's just to have it boiled with water and added salt to taste. Meanwhile the Gravi-pepper sauce, you would have to blend all ingredients together and since I am at the village I had to use pounding mortar to blend. Mind you, the Oli has to be the last ingredient to be added after blending. And food is ready  phase1 phase 2 phase 3 phase 4

Thank you @Mia Chloe for organizing this cooking contest, you have helped me remember that I can actually cook. Coming from a family where we are all boys and two girls as last kids, it is normal I know how to cook, so today I became the mama of the house to cook the new year food. Let's get down to the details: Naija delicacy: Fried rice and salad with beans pudding (called moi moi in Nigeria)1. Ingredients for fried rice and the preparation : The process involved preparing the ingredients as shown below and frying the vegies a little while adding the parboiled rice and mixing while on fire to achieve the friend rice.  The Parboiled rice was gradually added to the fried vegies to make the fried rice as shown below:  The Salad, made of sweet corn, cabbage, cucumber, carrot, bama and other minor ingredients was prepared as shown below: 2. Ingredients for beans pudding and the preparation : Dry beans, crayfish, cooked egg, onion, salt, pepper, some local spices, a little drop of groundnut oil and parboiled meat. Process involved adding water to the grounded beans and mixing with little oil and then other ingredients in their right proportions, thereafter dividing into different portions and adding the cooked egg and meat to each portion before cooking for 30 to 45 minutes.  Beans grounded, mixed with ingredients and ready to be cooked. Below is the cooking and the finished product: 3. Final product: Food is ready to be consumed with a locally made drink called zobo, made from vegetables and rich in blood. I also added a picture of how I ended the meal before I slept for four hours.  It was a sweet experience and I look forward to participating in this kinds of competition that bring so much memories of how we celebrate the new year growing up in a family of predominantly boys.

Happy New year BitcoinTalkers and my Great Local Board🥳🧧 My Entry {Yam, Plantain and chicken pepper soup}I had to hit the kitchen to make this dish for my homies in the village and if for nothing, this contest also helped me strengthen the bond and spread love for the new year. INGREDIENTS I don’t enjoy more of spicy dishes so I went with the basic - yam -plantain -chicken -Palm oil -fresh red pepper -dry pepper -scent leaves -onion -Maggi -lazor chicken spice -crayfish -Ginger -Garlic ITEMS IN PICTURE  N/B:. Please it’s worth knowing that, the meal was prepared in the evening because I had to wait for the people i called to turn up because the food was prepared for the boys, hence we needed to be all present to have the fun (I'm sure my Naija people know this cruise☺️😂) PREPARATION PROCESSFirstly I had to get all the necessary items needed for the cooking ready and cleaned which included both the mortar and pestle for pounding of the pepper, ginger and garlic  The mortar was left to dry and as this was going on, I also had to boil water to use for removing feathers from the chicken  While the water was left to boil to ease removal of the chicken feather, the yam and plantain was peeled and washed and also soaked with salt so it can be easily soft.  After that, I had to pound the pepper, crayfish, ginger and garlic all together in the dried mortar with the pestle to get a fine sauce to enhance the food  The water was finally ready and the chicken feathers were all removed (my chicken was then neaked😂)  I guess my chicken was shy of the nakedness and had to cross her legs 😂😂 ready to be slaughtered and boom, I finally slaughtered the chicken and washed it thoroughly because I like my chicken properly washed  After washing the chicken properly, I transferred it to the put and added some sliced onions to it after which I added pounded pepper, crayfish, ginger and garlic sauce to it as well as some cubes of Maggi and salt to taste and also added the lazor spice and mixed them all together with the chicken to enhance the taste before per boiling it     As a typical Nigerian breed, I had to rinse my mortar and pour the water to the chicken because we believe that major ingredient is the one rinsed from the mortar 😂 and I no fail. I couldn’t take picture of the per-boiling because of the steam smoke from the pot. I also couldn’t write my name on a paper because these above mentioned processes needed me touch water, and it might get the paper soaked. After parboiling the chicken, I had to transfer the washed yam and plantain to a bigger pot and also transferred the parboiled chicken to the bigger pot and cook them together properly  I also added some more sliced onions again to the food to enhance it and then i added the dry pepper, salt and salt and also added more water and allowed it to cook for about 30mins. While the food was on fire, I took some time to wash the scent leave and also take out the dried scent leaves because I wanted it fresh and green    Meanwhile, I couldn’t sit idle while waiting for the food, we had some talks going on while waiting for the food to be cooked and also had to pound another small fresh pepper in the mortar so we can transfer the cooked yam when done.  This is what the food looks like after adding the scent leaves to it and trust me, the food was amazing. :. Funny enough, it was already late when the food got ready and these guys didn’t even give me the space to give the food a perfect final presentation since it was already very late and it was on the 31st night and they needed to go back to their homes to crossover with their families. I wasn't opportune to take a picx of all the item in my house during the festive season but the most important thing is that at least I have a picx. MY JOLLOF RICE Ingredients * Fresh pepper * Fresh tomatoes * Carrot * Onion * butter * Green beans * Sweet corn * Groundnut oil * cabbage * seasoning * Jollof rice spice * Chicken How to prepare Nigeria Jollof: brief step how I prepared my stew sauce, first pour groundnut oil, salt, onion and tomatoes stir till the mixture is blend. Add blended fresh tomatoes and pepper and wait for a minute, add the necessary seasoning for example I used known, curry and thyme. Parboil the rice after frying the sauce, add a little water and cook.

For the new year, I had the opportunity to make white rice and beef sauce. Thank God for the provision. 🔸Ingredients Used For the White Rice 1. Nigerian rice 2. Salt 3. Water For the Beef Sauce 4. Beef 5. Carrots 6. Green peas 7. Maggie 8. Salt 9. Pepper 10. Curry masala 11. Maggie jollof spice 12. Oil 13. Onion 🔸Steps to Cook White Rice 1. Wash the rice thoroughly to remove any dirt or impurities.  2. Boil the rice with salt in a pot for about 25 minutes, or until it's cooked to your taste. 3. Set the cooked pot of rice aside  Cooking the Beef 1. Wash the beef and put it in a small pot. 2. Add a small amount of salt, pepper, and Maggie to the pot.  3. Steam the beef to bring out its natural juices. 4. Cook the beef for about 35 minutes, then set it aside. Cooking the Beef Sauce 1. Wash the carrots and green peas thoroughly.  2. Cut them into bite-sized pieces so they retain some crunch.  3. Heat a fire pan with oil over the fire for about 2 minutes. 4. Add the onion, carrots, and green peas to the pan and stir.  5. Add Maggie, curry masala, and Maggie jollof spice to the pan and stir. 6. Allow the mixture to fry for about 3 minutes. 7. Transfer the sauce mixture to the pot with the cooked beef.  8. Mix the sauce and beef together and allow it to cook for about 2 minutes.  Note: I cooked the sauce for a short time to preserve the crunch of the carrots. Cooking time is a matter of personal preference. Serving 1. Serve the cooked white rice with the beef sauce. 2. Optional: Add a salad as an extra topping to the white rice. I purchased a salad but didn't use it for the first serving.  Thank you and I hope you try it out someday

I’ve been wanting to participate in this contest. Today for the weekend I decided to make Afang Soup native to the Efik and Ibibio people. Ingredients: Waterleaf, okazi (afang), okporoko (stock fish),Chicken, dry fish, palm oil, fresh pepper, seasonings, onions    PROCEDURE: I washed the chicken,stock fish and dried fish. I washed my water leaf and sliced it. I pounded my okazi. I steamed my chicken with the stock fish and dried fish then added red oil and the sliced water leaf and allowed it to boil for some time. I added some seasoning cubes(Maggi), a little more pepper and salt to taste. Finally, I added the afang(okazi) and food is ready!     My FINAL PRODUCT! ENJOY!!  For my second entry I decided to go for the prestigious Naija Jellof Ingredients: Tomato (blended) Rice Meat (beef) Onions Spices Pepper (fresh) Meat stock Groundnut oil Crayfish Maggi Procedure: Firstly, I steamed my meat, Kept the stock and fried the meat then I parboiled the rice. I blended my tomato together with the fresh pepper Second Phase; I placed my pot on fire allowed it to dry then added groundnut oil allowed it to heat up then I added the sliced onions then the tomato/fresh pepper, crayfish, Maggi and spices then I stir-fried it properly then added the beef stock, and a little water(enough to help the rice boil) Finally I added the rice and allowed it to boil for some time then stirred it and covered the pot.
