Bitcoin has gone over $100,000 this year, and some analysts are predicting even bigger gains next year. With this, many financial advisors are recommending at least some caution, while investing in cryptocurrencies and making sure only a small portion of your overall portfolio is being used for investment. Bitcoin prices have fallen, but have recovered quickly after the Federal Reserve signaled it might cut rates less frequently next year, but they have more than doubled. Asset manager Blackrock recommends a 1-2% allocation to bitcoin in a portfolio that otherwise consists of a traditional stock/bond allocation due to bitcoin’s volatility. Experts like Malcolm Ethridge and David Rosenstrock weigh in on the risks and rewards of investing in bitcoin, emphasizing that it’s important to know why you want to invest. Buying bitcoin directly, investing in an ETF, or buying shares in companies that trade bitcoin each involve a number of different considerations. New investors should consider ETFs as a beginner-friendly option, but experienced investors like Douglas Boneparth prefer to hold bitcoin directly, for more control and security.
So your advice is that new investors should buy the ETFs and those with more experience should buy real bitcoins? I don't think it's a great advice because if you buy the ETFs you know nothing about bitcoin and it doesn't help you to make experience. How do you think that experienced investors became experienced? Buying real bitcoins, making some mistake, surely not buying ETFs.
Yeah I think diversifying your investment is a much better strategy than aping in your whole investment into one portfolio

You've shared some expert recommendations but haven't provided your own. What's your suggestion? These recommendations don't seem logical either, especially for Bitcointalk members. In a typical investment portfolio, Bitcoin should account for at least 20-30%, not just 1-2%. In my opinion, real estate should take priority. ETFs and similar funds are simply for ordinary people who don't know how to invest. They're like mixed nuts: There are some pistachios, but it's mostly chickpeas. In other words, they don't make you much money, but they do moderate the risks.
well yeah, I agree with the 20-40%, the ETFs is for exactly the reason as u said, to minimize risk as a newbie investor so as to gradually grow your portfolio as well as learning and being encouraged before venturing into the main thing

I’ve come to realize that the actual reason why many newbie investors always end up making certain mistakes with their investments or portfolio mismanagement is often due to misinformation and ignorance. Many newbies fail to gather the necessary knowledge before venturing into investment, many do not even have an investment plan and goal which is a necessity for every investor. Some newbies started their investment journey simply because they know or heard of someone who invested in Bitcoin and made huge profits, and without doing their own research to at least gather the basic knowledge (which is meant to serve as guidance to them in their journey) they delve in and when they land themselves in financial losses, you see them tagging Bitcoin investment as scam, which is very pitiful.

Bro if you have any insights you should share them too. your post's title doesn't match with your post.

It would be better called "My thread on investing in Bitcoin" or "My question.." in my opinion.
Though the thread is still full of wonderful advice for newbies and veterans on the market alike.

Bitcoin has gone over $100,000 this year, and some analysts are predicting even bigger gains next year. With this, many financial advisors are recommending at least some caution, while investing in cryptocurrencies and making sure only a small portion of your overall portfolio is being used for investment.

Well we can take it that the term "Cryptocurrencies" relates to all other $hitcoins and unfortunately
all too often Bitcoin in included in these statements eventhough it is a "cryptocurrency"

So with that I will move on and talk exclusively about Bitcoin.

Firstly I wouldnt listen to what any traditional investor says when it comes to being conservative about
getting into Bitcoin. I am 99% in Bitcoin, If I had listened to all the critics through the years and only
gone in 2% I would have exactly 97% less of the most important and rarest capital on the planet.

Bitcoins Volatility? they are still making it sound like a negative aspect when in fact as Michael Saylor points
out Volatility is a feature.

The traditional investor is an investor who doesn't need something new - he already has his golden age and tools to work with. His rules to follow. His bias towards others.
Bitcoin is the future.

Not necessarily, a traditional investor might be only in the scene less than 10 years and is not necessarily
70 years of age. Bitcoin being the future is as plain as the noses on our faces but not everyone can see
that or is willing to acknowledge it either.

Bitcoin has gone over $100,000 this year, and some analysts are predicting even bigger gains next year. Yeah I think diversifying your investment is a much better strategy than aping in your whole investment into one portfolio

"Diversification makes sense when you dont know the answer and you dont want to make a mistake"

That’s his own silly take on diversification, just trying to push the hype of going all in on Bitcoin. Sure, we can call him out for it, but we shouldn’t take his advice too seriously since he’s thinking long-term, and to think that the Bitcoins he’s buying aren’t even from his own pocket. Still, if you want a proper idea of diversification, just check what Wiki says about it as they’re usually on point, even though Elon Musk once offered money to change their name.

He even said that the USA should sell their gold reserves for Bitcoin, which is honestly kind of funny. Sometimes, you just can’t take this guy too seriously, even though he’s made a huge impact in the Bitcoin world as his company is one of the biggest holders of Bitcoin.

However we don’t fully know what his other agendas might be with his aggressive Bitcoin buying. There are critics calling him out for hyping Bitcoin and encouraging others to follow without properly considering the risks. It’s like he’s so focused on accumulating that he doesn’t even acknowledge the risks involved.

The only difference is that he can afford that kind of behavior - because he wouldn't stop there and would try to make others think the way he would like to.
And that's what should be remembered, even if he does something good for Bitcoin.

michael saylor is someone who is looked up to by the members of our community because of his confidence in bitcoin which i will admir is admirable but our situations do not all align to that of his in the sense that he’s mostly buying/bought his bitcoins with his company so there are some nuances we have to consider if we are to compare ourselves to himself

So as long as you are investing what you can afford to put aside for a long term into Bitcoin, you are good to go through with Bitcoin volatilities because of the long-term perspective of the investor.

Definitely. Bitcoin investment is all about investing what you can afford so that the volatility of the market will not affect the investors after leaving the money in there for a long time, although some investors are really getting it wrong when they say invest what you can afford to lose; many don’t really get it right. And I think that is what is happening with the OP of this thread now;

I think he really follows what other people are saying about the investment, and he’s thinking of following the advice of other people, which, of course, they will advise newbie investors such that they won’t panic, but when you look at the other side of it, some of them are not ready to take the long-term risk in bitcoin investment.

Am I the only one who noticed that OP didn't actually give any advice of his own? rather he just talked about what others think or other people's advice..
Bro if you have any insights you should share them too. your post's title doesn't match with your post.

Yeah. But the thing is that what OP is trying to share is still understandable, though since other forum members already bring up some of their own opinions about what he’s trying to share with us, I think it is still okay, although moreover OP is still a newbie. I think he will improve how to post content here; just give him time; he will learn.

Is it right time to invest in Bitcoin?
in my opinion not really, let the dip keep dipping (NFA)
For now, I think it best to remain within the region of correction and not get hands-on new coins, Bitcoin price at the moment is moving towards a benchmark that could offer some discounted prices in the coming days, the bear market may return and Bitcoin going dipper than the current price, we should be ready for whatever but if you ask me, I will tell you for free that, right now is the best time to just hold on in buying Bitcoin and holding your capital waiting for any discounted opportunities to buy, so anything below 90k will be a good buyback price for those that Cash out above 100k in the previous week.

If the goal is for the short term then this could be true but when talking about the long term then for now when there is a situation where we still have momentum in utilizing the decline to prepare for a long term rally in the next cycle then it is indeed still worth buying even though there is a possibility that bitcoin will again decline to a lower price.

So in the end if the choice is long-term then it will not be wrong to buy now as long as we are able to hold for the long term and are ready for all possibilities because indeed the goal is for a further future than now then this could be the right moment to buy again when we have money ready to buy.

Now we are entering a trend where people will slightly cash out their assets for the year-end holidays and this situation can last a few days or weeks before bitcoin restarts their movement but for now the correction seems to be a natural thing.

Is it right time to invest in Bitcoin?
It is the right time if you've got the money that you should be investing on it for the long term.

michael saylor is someone who is looked up to by the members of our community because of his confidence in bitcoin which i will admir is admirable but our situations do not all align to that of his in the sense that he’s mostly buying/bought his bitcoins with his company so there are some nuances we have to consider if we are to compare ourselves to himself
That is right, he's buying with the use of his company's money and what more if it's their investor's money. So, he can have no emotion in buying every time the market dips but we all admire him doing that because that helps the price to go up. And we'll surely admire him more if he keeps buying like above $100k and when Bitcoin's price reaches $150k - $1M.

All the experts mentioned are anti-Bitcoin advocates so you don't expect them to say you should put a higher percentage of your investment in Bitcoin, yeah definitely they will advise new investors to look in the direction of their traditional investments. So as long as you are investing what you can afford to put aside for a long term into Bitcoin, you are good to go through with Bitcoin volatilities because of the long-term perspective of the investor.
The why people advice others to not invest their higher percentage in the bitcoin is the time bitcoin has not gotten firm, and now that bitcoin has gotten firm I can advice you to put your large investment in bitcoin...as of that time many of them does not believe that bitcoin will last to the extent that bitcoin will stay on track up till today..currently it's obvious that inflation is affecting traditional business  now, so it will be good that you invest on a decentralized currency that you control without anyone monitoring it for you, let me use myself as point of reference, bitcoin investment is something we need to understand that the higher amount of capital you invest is the why the profits will accumulate during a bullrun.

For me, investing in bitcoin is the best there is at any time, there is nothing that is a limitation for me, in many threads they may advise that it is better to buy cheap, but we do not know if right now it is cheap compared to 2 or 3 years from now or in a few months and if we do not take advantage of the opportunity it will be very different later, I understand that now there is the DCA method but it is something that not everyone applies, only those who know it apply it and those who do not, well, it is very simple to do.

Some newbies started their investment journey simply because they know or heard of someone who invested in Bitcoin and made huge profits, and without doing their own research to at least gather the basic knowledge (which is meant to serve as guidance to them in their journey) they delve in and when they land themselves in financial losses, you see them tagging Bitcoin investment as scam, which is very pitiful.

and that's why one should not FOMO. investing in bitcoin is risky and an investor should do research and learn about bitcoin and how the risks are. their mistake is just following without understanding how to properly invest in bitcoin can lose their money. and that's why always understanding the right way to invest and the risks of investing in bitcoin is very necessary, so that investors can get profit in the market and minimize potential losses.

Investing in anything is a risk, so to speak - but with Bitcoin, if you understand how it behaves on the market from cycle to cycle - you won't spend a nerve on your investment. And you still would be on top.
Managing the risks, of course, those that are left.
