Tinnitus is one of those nightmares that a person struggles, which people who don’t have it don’t know or guess how big it burdens and affects one’s life. When you go to a doctor, you get said that there is no cure. Which leads some people to even get in to suicidal thoughts. I opened this topic to say that you are not alone, and you come and use this place to vent.

What caused it?

How long have you been affected by it?

Have you habituated to it?

Do you think there will be a cure in the near future?

I have been an almost-fatal car accident 10 years ago, resulting in permanent high toned tinnitus. (We call it the ‘T’)

I have been affected since I was a kid.

Some days are nice, some days are unlivible; especially nights that I cannot sleep.

Altough I wish to see a cure, I don’t really have any hopes on it; or will not be able to see the cure in my lifetime.

Sorry about that as I can relate to what you are talking about. I also had an accident which got my ankle and knee dislocated and therapist said the joint ankles are not so easy to rejoin and have the victim become total free as normal. After massage and the meds, I could get myself back a bit but still having those joint beeping tones of pains right in my brain.
At most times I feel no one is as going such ugly situation I am going through. Especially at nights that I will keep my heads up while everyone is asleep due to the severe like I am having brain tumour.
Actually some situations we find disturbing are due to insufficient funds in our accounts though I agree that not everything money can buy but at my venture on bitcoin investment, I began and looking at the value of my assets, I began to feel no idol anymore as I view the attractive values of my bitcoin as a core company that always by me. So why don't you consider doubling your bitcoin assets and feel the magic to how unease pains disappears? It is really working out for me as I say.

some people have found techniques to atleast distract the sounds.. by replacing the sound with other sound that is more soothing.
finding the right calming music allows you to concentrate on the calming music to then relax and sleep

some find just having the TV or a streaming service running on screen while they are in bed allows them to sleep better

try to find what music, natural sounds, may help distract/cancel the hum, hiss, or sharp tone

Sorry to read what happened to you OP, the car accident must have been a horrible experience. At least you are still here though, I guess it could have been a lot worse. I’m not trying to patronise you, it’s just good to look for a positive in the most awful situations. Have you tried closing your mouth, pinching your nose shut & doing a blowing your nose type function. It can open the eustachian tubes which can be a cause of tinnitis if they are inflamed. I suffer with heavy wax build up in my ears, I have to get them syringed. Flying has at times been very painful for me on descent.

I'm not a medical doctor, I know that if you can visit some other big hospital in your country, there will be solution for your case because there will definitely be cure for it, but you need to visit hospitals first because many people have recovered from this kind disease but I don't know the things the doctor recommended for the victim before they were able to cure the disease, but I know the disease was cure,  don't give up yet, I believe you will get a good solution from this community that will end that disease from you.

My dad has it. He got it after he reached around 60. Not sure of the cause but he used to suffer a lot in past but now he's a bit habitual to it but sometimes the ringing is higher than other times.

There's no cure for it. None of the medicine or surgery works. But what benefited him was sound therapy. He's a US government article about it.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7493236/

He prefers two types of sound therapy, in one, he generates a vibrating sound as he exhales his breath.
On another, he uses some vibrating objects like singing bowl or a tuning fork.

Explore into it and find what suits you. There are different frequencies and you can try what suits you.
