Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old what I am going to find when I peel off the seal, and what steps I need to take to have secure access to my coins with complete privacy? I dont want to enter my name or SSN anywhere, I just want to do some sports betting on an anonymous btc sportsbook site (if any exist) and maybe convert a little to cash on occasion by selling to people.

Any help would be appreciated!

Before redeeming the coin, contact Minerjones. He has successfully handled hundreds of auctions here and is very trustworthy. In an auction, you're sure to find someone interested in buying the coin.

Good advice. I like when people try to help newcomers, even with a couple of links and a reference to get them on the right track.

Good stuff  Wink

Thanks!

It’s a pity when someone tries to redeem a casascius coin just to place a bet somewhere and cash out a little money. He’s not gonna get far with that..

Especially not if he has no idea where to place anonymous bets or how to cash out anonymously.. you know what I mean -> you snooze, you lose

Wrote it years ago and have used the same principles for any high value sweeps.

It’s going to sound counterintuitive, but the easiest way to sweep is to use the Ballet wallet app on iOS/android. Unfortunately, this means you need to buy a ballet physical bar to peel, but it gives you the ability to sweep from a Cas/physical directly into that bar where you can then sweep into whatever wallet.

Ballet UI is so clean, it works extremely well. Very secure. Sure, it’s an extra hop from using say Electrum, but it’s 100% worth it in my opinion.

Thank you for all the replies. I should say that I actually have a pretty decent understanding of the theory of bitcoin. I am mostly a believer, which is why I've changed my stance on being dead set on selling this thing for cash, to being very willing to accept a btc transaction or some combination of the two.

The part I'm clueless about is the actual infrastructure of it and WTF a "trezor" is, the fact that a "paper wallet" apparently doesnt involve paper, how to know which wallets/apps are legit/private etc etc. Yes, I could spend alot of time and learn all of this. I could also research the balance sheets of mutual funds etc that I have in my 401k but I prefer to just point and click and enjoy my life. My biggest concern is that bitcoin never gets to the point where people like me can use it comfortably.

Anyway, the most common feedback I got in both PM's and in this thread are to make another attempt to sell with Bigdaddy Minerjones as the facilitator before peeling. I am willing to take the leap of faith and send this coin to him to make this happen, once I have an agreed on sale.

See my post history for quite a few pics of the coin. Please PM or drop me a line in here if you have interest. As I said to someone in PM, my main concern is privacy and doing the deal in a way my newbie self is comfortable with. That takes precedence over getting every possible penny from the sale.

After more thought, I finally peeled. Got this thing in 2011 from an acquaintance who was trying to explain btc to me. So glad I didnt throw it in the garbage when I got home. Now I got this string of numbers and letters and the quest begins to learn how to splash around with a little bit of it while holding on to the majority to enjoy the ride to the mooooooooon.

It certainly is. Sitting here beside me with the seal removed. Deciding what online wallet to use and waiting for my offline wallet to be delivered in the mail. Also trying to determine if theres an anonymous sportsbook where I can take 10% of my btc to fire some bets and actually get paid back into my wallet but that is secondary for now. The gambling forum here is just all advertisements it seems.

i would use a Ballet card like MJ suggested and I think i did in the past also, you literally download the app, scan a new metal card and select option "import assets" and type in the private key and its completed.  And a little story for you before you decide to "place some bets" a few years back when btc was $3,500 i put 1 full bitcoin on the conner mcgregor fight and he lost, years later that was a $100k mistake. so my advise is, every single bet you place using bitcoin is a bet against bitcoin and over the years you will 100% lose every single time =)  cheers

Very good advice... Or use Mycelium, I think it can scan the mini-pk format as well. Can't recall what I used last a few years back.

And yeah, don't gamble your precious bits. I will always regret the old days of PrimeDice.. Tongue

Whitelisted both you and the OP, this should reduce newbie restrictions, though OP may still need to enable PMs from Newbie users.

The 1 "merit" issue is common trying to dm new members. Also tried to dming with offer but can't because most of users don't know how to allow dms from newbies and reaching 1 mirit is miracle

Thank you!  Would love to own a few of these.  Hoping to make a deal at some point.  Have liquid BTC for trade.

Nothing wrong with the old importprivkey "private key" on a good ol qt wallet and then sending to that betting site once in your wallet Smiley .

I didnt see if its brass or silver.  If brass not a bad idea, if silver you are leaving some sats on tje table.  Either way the peeled coin is still worth some dough so dont just chuck that thing away.
