Carrying over P2P trade feedback to the forum

How exactly would I go about that?

Obviously trust feedback will not change or anything like that, but I have some feedback on sites like Paxful, Localcoinswap that I want to carry over here and display for anyone who's interested.

I thought about adding the links in my profile, but nobody's going to actually look at those.

I also thought about making a topic in Currency Exchange, but I'm not opening any offers so it wouldn't make any sense.

That's a nice idea but the thing is forum would have to verify that the account over there belongs to you too. If not scammers would have a way to fake the identity of an account on many of those exchanges just to use as an edge to scam people here and that won't be nice.

Another draw back is that there are so many exchanges out there and even if you pick the top ones some people still won't be able to make use of it since they may not have accounts on the listed ones.

Aside from all these this forum supports privacy and Decentralisation and most users make use of CEX so allowing them add CEX to their profiles would look like the forum is partially promoting centralisation and the use of Centralised exchanges and trust me we have more CEX users than DEX users out there.

It's not something the forum itself should be doing to be honest. I was thinking it would be something the user himself would be able to do. But I just don't have any good idea on how to display them.

That way there is no issue about scammers, and anyone who wants to talk to the user on the other platform can just verify with him/her that they have the account ownership.

Why not create a trust feedback thread on the reputation board? Since you literally said that you won't be opening any offers here on the forum. But then, the usefulness of the trustfeedback thread, is for people who would be interested in trading with you, to check out your offers over there on those p2p platforms.. I've seen some past similar trust feedback threads on reputation board, like this one @My Reputation/trust thread though most of them are trades done on the forum, but since you are still a member I don't think it's going to matter much.  Then from time to time, you keep updating it with your lastest feedback and also those who are interested would drop some on the thread as well

So if I get your point correctly I think you are suggesting an extra information displayed on users profile something like Exchange name (which would be specified by the user) and your trust rating on that  exchange (also specified by the user) ? So probably other users would have to toggle to your profile on that exchange to verify right?

Still users often make offers on the service board and if it relates to these kind of transactions they usually leave a trust feedback most times including the means of the transaction. Anyways let's see what other users here think about the idea though.

Why? You have the reputation on this forum which is equivalent to the to the reputation you have on other platforms.

This will be the beginning of another scamming strategy. Some people will look for ways to abuse it and also trying ways to use it to scam.

I prefer how this forum is. Better for people to create the reputation for themselves on this forum.

Nowadays the reputation board is swamped with "forum crimes", so starting "NotATether's reputation thread" wouldn't exactly be a good idea as it will quickly go off-topic by disgruntled newbies.<sup>*

Because not all feedbacks are equal. If you go to my trust page, all the feedback is for small amounts. However, I have also done trades with hundreds of dollars on other platforms, so naturally those feedbacks would matter more to someone trying to buy/sell some product from me in Marketplace.

There are members with a ruined reputation here but have a really good reputation on p2p sites, what do you think will happen if they're able to carry over those good scores to the forum ? Wouldn't it make the whole feedback system useless?

It does not affect the trust system in anyway, if you make a trust feedback thread or something similar to that about your perfect reputation elsewhere, but you have a tainted reputation in the forum, anybody who wants to deal with you can see the both and decide if they want to go ahead or not.

That being said, a scammer elsewhere, would most likely be a scammer here too.

Just keep it locked. Reputation is the place for it. You can link to it somewhere in your profile or just send links to it when necessary.

It would be nice to have to showcase our reputation especially handling big trade volume. I have been using Paxful since LBC shutdown and I have built decent profile for myself with actual feedback from all kinds of accounts such as people who done trades in single digit as well as trusted by corporate traders who has more than 10000+ BTC traded.

But I got myself verified and my real name is showing in there so I wouldn't do that but if it's not problem then just link it to the bot in signature space(currently 0 post) or under the profile.

I would do that and members who are interested in trading would probably look at your profile links for other websites.
However, there would have to be some kind of connection proof posted, otherwise anyone could scam and post links to profiles from other people.
You can also create new ANN topic in services with all your links for other profiles, and you can add your bitcointalk profile link on those websites if you want.

The largest amount I've been trusted with (for my Fork claiming service) is a lot bigger than anything in my feedback. It's just the way feedback works: not everyone leaves it, and not everything is accurate.

You can only leave feedback 5 times on one account, and your bot will need to post first. But worse than that, it would look like patting yourself on the back.
I'd go for the Reputation board. Mine didn't get that much spam, and if it happens, just report it.

I have to admit I felt a little strange when I saw this thread. Now I'll ask you the same question, why do you even need something like that?

First, it will be quite difficult to prove that the same person is behind all the accounts. Even if there is a trade that requires confirmation that the accounts are yours, it could take too long and complicate things.
The imported feedback will not mean much more than the current ones you have, I would even have more trust in the current ones because they were left by other users who also have a high trust rating here. Many of us here do not use Paxful and know little about the feedback system there and whether it is possible to manipulate it. Guarantees from other sites are mostly rejected here for loan requests. You would continue to be looked at through your Bitcointalk history.

As for the feedback on your profile, perhaps your history of posts is much more relevant, that is, your behaviour and the way you approach different discussions here. I will mention the most extreme example, for some trades with LoyceV, probably no one would even look at his feedback page, no matter what was written there.

I agree with the other stuff you wrote but there's a lot of members on let's say the Currency Exchange board who would be interested in such information. Of course "regular" users who mainly just post would not care about those sites.

1. You can create a dedicated thread like “NotAtether’s off-forum trade feedback.” (In Reputation Board, if you don't want to use Currency exchange board."

2. Use an existing alt or create a new one to post neutral trust feedback on your main account, citing the feedback's source link.

• The feedback will be easily visible if your alt is also a DT, like Hilarious’s.
• If you don’t have a DT alt, you can still use it, but the feedback might be overlooked for not being through a DT account, and viewers will have to use "Show ratings" for "Untrusted feedback". The majority of people only look at DT feedback.
• Alternatively, some DT members could also voluntarily post neutral feedback with a reference link to your forum's "off-forum trade" post or to the website(s) where ratings are displayed (This one considering ratings are easily visible to the interested trader, and is verifiable)

3. To inform others about your off-forum trades, You can create an offer thread in the currency exchange section [Available to Trade] / [Not trading at the moment]

• Whenever you want to trade, you can edit the thread to Available, otherwise not "Not trading", this way you won't have to get into the hassle of creating new topics for single trades and posting all feedback in every single one out of them, One tip: Make sure to have a reserved post, you don't know if it might come handy in future.
• As a legendary member with considerable trust, traders are unlikely to have issues believing you or just cite the source link(s) to feedback to avoid the "beliefs" part in general.
• Feedback will still be mentioned even if you don’t trade in your currency exchange thread.

It is your manual work, I am sure, because forum is different than these P2P platforms, that sometimes allow people to submit a request and import feedback from another platform to their platform.

Did you think carefully about this?

It can violate your own privacy and anonymity if you are going to trade with some forum members, they will know your name, bank information, ... if you choose bank transfer as your trading method with your trade partners from this forum community.

[1] It is your manual work, I am sure, because forum is different than these P2P platforms, [2] that sometimes allow people to submit a request and import feedback from another platform to their platform.

[1] - Yep, trades will be done manually, so NotATether will have to provide it manually unless there's a thread dedicated to the off-forum feedback, if people want to trade, then they will look into currency exchange, services, or contact you personally, but it has to be stated somewhere on the forum about such offer or history of relevant feedbacks.

Putting a link in Profile to the Localbitcoins, Paxful, or any other P2P feedback platform is also good (People will know this account cites the feedback link of another platform, so it belongs to the same person)

You could perhaps just put it in your personal text spot if you wanted. I would say it only really mattered if you are planning on doing a large volume of trades here, in which case your trust feedback score will grow anyway. You could also just paste the links to your accounts with some sort of verification that they belong to you.

You will also have to be careful with imposters. After an escrow deal in a TG group chat, I had someone create a username similar to mine but added an extra character to it, so it shows up 2 users, both with the same profile picture; the good thing is someone informed me about it. The same can happen to the P2P platform.

There was someone on a p2p who scammed me. I reported the person after trade, I had already released the amount and the trader withdrew it, I don't know about the person but Paxful asked me for ID verification documents. I don't remember exactly but they said both have been asked for the verification and nothing can be done for the amount lost since the person has already withdrawn the amount, it was a small amount for the lesson so no prob.

There are many scammers on p2p platforms.
Those who scam on profession have somehow found a way to verify their accounts using IDs (Purchased, most likely); they offer a considerably increased percentage in Fiat for Cypto to lure people who want to save more or who give into greed, and people fall for it.

Putting profile text in the source of feedback(s) is good. Given space is available, it's even better to have a custom-made signature for it.
