In the USA "more than 770,000 people were experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. Nearly 150,000 children experienced homelessness on a single night in 2024, a 33% increase from 2023." Source: https://www.newsnationnow.com/health/homelessness-record-high-levels-hud/A large and overbearing government after the end of the gold standard is the clear cause and put a sudden end and reversal to the trend of poverty ending. Rather than the poorest people increasing their amount of money relative to wealthy people, they instead started to decrease their amount of income relative to wealth people after 1971. Restoring sound money would be a key step to resolution. If the gold standard were still intact, we'd be looking at continued record lows rather than record highs. We'd be looking at poverty having been substantially eliminated. A new government model that does not allow people to vote to do clearly immoral things may be required to reverse this trend. Stop paying taxes to governments that act immorally and cause injustice. It is unethical to pay taxes to an organization that doesn't respect human rights sufficiently, or that borrows money in a way that effectively enslaves the population with high debt loads.

Seems peculiar to modern world or societies where governments pretend to own Earth's resources on behalf of the people. But rather than benefit everyone, they're shared to friends, used for things that benefit some(or don't benefit those who have share in the resources), the money earn from selling the resources is misused rather than given to their owners maybe as a form of inheritance or some sort of start up capital to start their own businesses. This has largely contributed to the current problems where necessary things are out of reach or unaffordable to many. People should be able to freely access the resources, through hardwork, to build good quality houses or for other personal developments. But government is more interested in making lots of money from the collective resources to use for things that do not sufficiently benefit those who have share in the resources, or things that are not needed/used by the "shareholders".
There should be universal right to shelter especially for those who have got no inheritance or share of Earth's resources.. Unfortunately many people are denied this rights, while those who are more connected/loyal to the elites in power or governments have taken these shares. Besides, no one should take away this right in the name of reallocations. What every citizen is entitled to should be kept for him/her no matter how long it takes to get them. I think certain share of earth resource should be tied to every citizen, and whenever they are needed by their owners, who should be qualified to use them profitably/properly, the government, community or family should release them. If after getting a share of the collective resources and you still end up in poverty, you have yourself to blame. Such people could be taught to be profitable and responsible by the qualified ones.
Ofcourse taxes should be used for things that benefit those who pay the taxes. It could be considered theft if they end up not getting enough or anything atall in return for their contributions.

Shocking. You mean using the government's money to fight homelessness by giving new college graduates with social degrees six figure salaries to enable the homeless isn't working out? Who would have thought? It's almost like paying people a ton of money to watch over homeless people isn't the best way to keep people from being homeless. Shocking, I know. The sad part is now there's a huge and growing industry of these worthless college graduates who are going to be looking to the government for jobs the rest of their lives. Liberals are compounding the problem instead of fixing it. Now we have homeless to try and provide for, expensive colleges that hard workers can't attend, government money paying to send kids to college to become worthless employees, and a growing homeless population to use the government created services. It takes a special kind of stupid...

The hidden thing there is that out of these homeless people sleeping on the streets of America, a high percentage of them are illegal immigrants who may have entered the US without proper documentation and planning, so the poverty ratio shouldn't be added to this discussion since this set if immigrants don't pay tax or work for the government.
The interring President Trump in his first administration did tithen the US borders and the immigration laws to reduce the population of immigrants both legal and illegal immigrants so I believe he will continue to work on that path in this second term at least that will help sort or reduce the issue of homeless people around the street.
The article that the OP mentioned didn't give clarification if the data used for the research was from the entire population or legal residents of the US. But one striking fat from the report is that majority of these homeless people are black Americans. And statistics has shown that 17.9% Blacks in the US live below poverty line while white people population is 7.7%. Poverty is a major contributor of homelessness in the US. Tightening of the borders will no doubt reduce the number of people who live on the streets of the US. It will also help in giving unemployed citizens more chance to secure jobs that will take them off the streets. But the government should go a step further to reduce systematic racism which has limited blacks and other minorities to have access to to equal oppurtunties.

Immigration is part of the problem, however that factor is quite localised in certain towns, most of the homlessness is home-bred. Homelesness is counted quite differently across cities but it does include people living in sheltered accommodations (so not purely rough-sleeping), Despite, there is no doubt a problem that is across the civilised world: some jobs are not enough to pay for shelter and there is a living crisis for the young.

Sound money would certainly fix this based on this chart: https://www.cbpp.org/charts/wealth-concentration-has-risen-since-1970sBefore the gold standard ended in 1971, poverty was in decline. The middle class was growing. The poorest were becoming less poor. After the gold standard, the government immediately burgeoned out of control and immediately ended economic growth for poor people in the USA. All the charts of USA economic health of the poor show a good state before 1971 and a bad state after. All the charts of the USA show the government size spinning out of control after 1971. The USA started leaning heavily socialist after 1971, and that immoral basis for society cannot result in an overall success for a population of people. Its simple accounting. As the USA becomes the second country after Japan to donate 20% of its income to the banking industry, it will suffer the same way Japan did. It was the biggest economic story of most people's lifetime for the Japanese to pay 20% of their money to bankers, and where was the news coverage? Now that the banker's slave test was passed since Japan accepts that level of slavery via debt, the USA will be donating 20% of its money to the banking class as well. This should be unconstitutional.

You have to understand that no matter how developed a country is there'll always be the poor and destitutes in it, I don't think that it's possible to totally eradicate poverty in any society. I've not been to America, but I doubt that the level of homeless there can be compared to many parts of the world that are not as developed as them. If a country like the US and some top European countries are battling with too many immigrants trying to enter their countries illegally, perhaps a large number of the homeless people might be the immigrants. I don't see how gold in anyway had to do with having homeless people in America, or any other country, some people are homeless because they're lazy or they made bad choices that rendered them homeless. It's not always the fault of the government that people are homeless, especially in developed countries like USA.

A whole lot of homeless people were forced into homelessness because of the economy. Many were scared... at least at first. Now many like it. Some homeless living leaves a whole bunch of regulations behind - like mow the lawn and only water so many times a year. Some like to travel the country, living out of their vans. Other people feel sorry for the homeless, and set up food lines and hand out blankets. The homeless love the free food, and all the rest of the freedom. Never going back to the enslavement.

That chart doesn't in any way prove the connection of homelessness with gold standard. You are just saying it is. There are other important things contributing to wealth gap and inequality than just lack of gold standard. Sound money doesn't fuel the economy as much as fiat money either. It doesn't make much sense to spend something when value of it is supposed to go up. Or would you prefer spend your bitcoin to buy every day things, or keep it growing in value? If people want to make money, they just don't keep it in cash. Another thing is that, none of the other countries in the world are using gold standard / sound money either, and there are countries with less wealth gap or homelessness. So how does sound money fit into this?

I always wonder why is it that the government people vote are still the one treating people like this, it is just the beginning of 2025 and things are not changing, for having about 770,000 people who are homeless shows that the system is bad and the government is not doing there work a good government, I am surprised to hear this because a country like USA should not be like this, every country have problems and they face the bad thing that the government did but USA is a big country. I think there will be a day when citizens will not even think of voting because they are tired of the treatment they get from the government, citizen responsibilities are very important for the government because citizens are the main government, without citizens the government is nothing but when they win the election they will ignore them and started treating them like a slave, this is a new year and the government should bring another good system for the citizens survive.

It’s really not a good statistic to see for a powerful, First World country. We should not be seeing so many people homeless in this day & age. It makes even worse reading when illegal migrants are flocking into the US & getting free housing & welfare. Hopefully as Trump comes in with a new administration some efforts can be made to put a stop to this homelessness pandemic.

Another thing is that, none of the other countries in the world are using gold standard / sound money either, and there are countries with less wealth gap or homelessness. So how does sound money fit into this? I noticed a very clear correlation between the poor getting more poor and the end of the gold standard. If you mean to say correlation isn't causation, then okay. Strong correlations are good enough to make policy decisions without any technical proof. Sound money according to the chart provided shows it fuels the economy for the lower class, just not as much as for the upper class. The only thing fiat money fuels is government bloat and inflation, which is part of the economy that hurts society by it's growth. Just because you are "fueling the economy" doesn't mean you are fueling it in a good way. Only moral fiscal policy that is healthy for families (rather than bankers and bureaucrats) is a good way to fuel the economy. The point of the USA statistics is they are easy to collect compared to other countries. However, given you didn't even acknowledge evidence when evidence was there, I don't see how extending this evidence to other countries would be accepted by you as valid. Would it? If every single country that made a substantial switch to fiat showed the lower class worse off, then would that be proof of my point or just nothing at all?
You have to understand that no matter how developed a country is there'll always be the poor and destitutes in it, I don't think that it's possible to totally eradicate poverty in any society. While that is partially true, it isn't entirely true. If a country is properly morally developed then it will all but eliminate all poverty. The USA was in the process of poverty elimination prior to the end of the gold standard that kept government size in check and kept more fair banking policies that benefited the middle class. The end of the gold standard caused massive inflation. Inflation did massive damage to middle class people who have the highest amount of money in cash assets. Its simple accounting reasons that the end of the gold standard was the beginning of the shinkage of the middle class for the USA. Printed fiat money is a mathematically guaranteed type of tax on the middle class. The bankers get the advantage while non-bankers get the disadvantage. But much worse than that, the government bloats up large, dragging everyone down economically across the board, though especially the middle class and poor more than the rich. This chart of USA federal government spending shows a spending spike starting just prior to the end of the gold standard: https://www.cato.org/blog/century-federal-spending-1925-2025[moderator's note: consecutive posts merged]

Honestly speaking, I didn't know that Americans still have homeless people who are even citizens, this is a big shame on the government considering the USA's position on the global development scale, I don't even want to talk about the issues of illegal immigrants, but at least a first world place like the US should have everything in place to tackle whatever possibilities of unlicensed people without documents and take care of their citizens, so if the government should depend on tax payer money to take care of homeless people, what then will happen to the right purpose for collection of those tax, I think the government can set up a camp for homeless people providing basic immunities for them until they get them integrated into the workforce properly.

If you mean to say correlation isn't causation, then okay. Strong correlations are good enough to make policy decisions without any technical proof.
Yeah, right.
Chart didn't say anything about sound money, it's about wealth concentration. People don't get wealthier because they store money, they get wealthier because they invest it. In fact if you see end of gold standard as some kind of trigger, you see that wealth concentration was all time high during gold standard? And that started to drop when they ceased using it in 1933 (Totally abandoned it in 1971). So what's your point? Pluto was discovered in 1930, maybe that was the reason for this? It makes as much sense.
Again, that link you gave me wasn't evidence, it was a chart, and it didn't correlate in any way that would back your theory up. And when i say that no country in the world are using gold standard anymore, and that there are countries that don't have such increase with homelessness. How that proves your point exactly?

Would you care to mention de name of the degrees those people are getting in college which you consider to be practically worthless and do not co tribute anything to society ? I had heard before that there were some social degrees or studies which were taught in the USA and Canada and they aimed to improving the life of the poor and the needy in empoverished neighborhoods and such, but I cannot find a direct reference on what those degrees and programs are or whether how much of value they actually hold to improve society. Some careers create value/wealth for society in more on more obvious ways than others by the way, one could see how a gold miner generates wealth more directly than an mechanical engineer would do. You got me curious.

Why are these people getting homeless? You have to investigate the habits of these people to understand why they are lacking money for survival and basic dignity. Statistics bring a very broad picture which awakes infinite debates among politicians and their worshippers, but none solutions after all. As we can see, this issue is getting more and more serious along the decades, and the more people put their personal responsabilities above government's shoulders, worse it gets.
The government isn't going to solve anyone's lives. They are going to solve the lives of the people who work at the government: the politicians, the judiciary system and their lackeys. Everyone else is abandoned to their own luck. If people don't change their habits in order to find alternatives to make the income last longer or to increase it, nothing will change for real.
The salvation is individual... And by seeking for it, maybe you can find some other awake individuals who think like you, so you can work cooperatively together.

How would gold standard or sound money fix this? You might as well blame air conditioners for homelessness, as patent for those came same time as leaving gold standard. It makes as much sense. Homelessness is happening because of political values and wealth inequality in USA. And they could fix that by actually taxing ultra rich, and distributing that tax money differently. Yet curiously the US has voted for exactly the opposite. They voted for a self-proclaimed billionaire, that has choosen a cohort of billionaires that somehow have convinced million of americans that they are going to make others wealthy. It seems that re-distribution is simply not in the dictionary of the US voters right now. I wonder what is going to happen if the inflation rises even higher due to deportations and tariffs. What will Trump say? It is a deep state conspiracy to make inflation rise???

^^^ Americans voted Trump in for two basic reasons: 1. They finally saw how good Trump is when... 2. They were shown how bad the Deep State is... by the Deep State, themselves. Americans voted for God, in faith in their hearts, and God brought Trump in because he is good for the American people. Kamala Harris for President? It would never happen even if it did. We'd simply get the prompter back. The Deep State cut their own throats, because that is all they are good for... cutting throats.
