Elon Musk is one of those narcissistic weasels who would say anything to be "popular"... although greed might take precedence when it comes to his personal wealth.

Politically, there are some things which I fail to understand about the role Elon Musk takes within the MAGA movement and it's policies for the United States.
Trump has openly mocked electrical vehicles and praised how the USA could be energy independent from other country just by drilling oil within the country, on the other hand Trump is being backed by a billionaire who is widely known for having high stakes in a company which manufactures electrical vehicles.
I wonder what would MAGA think of Elon Musk if he openly admitted he believes climate change is real and something should be done about it before it is too late. It is like oxymoron.

Anyways, there must be other political and economical interest which Elon and Trump agree in, otherwise the former would have not gotten out his way to fully endorse Trump and pay for his campaign.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk partnered not because they share totally thesame ideologies but because they just want Democrats out of the White House. They have some areas in which they share thesame thoughts like opposition to gays, abortion and illegal immigration. But they will have to find common grounds in areas where they have divergent orientations. And it seems Trump wants the friendship to last long that was why he supported the billionaire during the H-1B visa debate. To the disbelief of his strong supporters, the incoming President said he believed in the visa program.

Elon's businesses are being investigated by federal agencies (e.g. Tesla "autopilot" crashes) so he might want to make that go away. Not to mention the whole EV/tariff/etc deal that he can tweak to benefit mostly Tesla but not e.g. Ford or Toyota.

But just the expectation that Trump's win will benefit Elon's companies is good enough to make his election investment pay off, including Twitter purchase. Expectations move stock prices and his wealth is mostly Tesla and SpaceX stock.

Elon’s autopilot has already saved so many lives. I am shocked at how good it is. Everyone I give a ride in my truck leaves saying they’re going to buy a Tesla. Add that to making mankind a multi-planetary species and giving us back the freedom of speech… My only conclusion is if you don’t appreciate Elon Musk, you’re very obviously brainwashed and need to take a step back and think hard about why you are such a miserable person.

What sort of low IQ narcissist would say something like that about the world's most successful genius?  He's literally a rocket scientist and the most successful man on the planet.  You'd have to be a literal moron to think that you know better than a rocket scientist about physics, math better than the richest most successful businessman in the world, or logic better than the guy that saved free speech for the world.

He didn’t name his kid, his wife did. Sure, he was crazy to have sex with Grimes, but who among us wouldn’t? I also don’t think he’s bees bad for Bitcoin. His companies literally own billions of dollars worth of Bitcoin solely because of him. He does have a lot of enemies, but they are all misinformed jealous liberals, so any successful person unfortunately has to claim the same.

I can still remember how Elon was praised here when he was pumping Bitcoin and then derided when he pivoted to Doge. Then partial amnesia set in when his temporary political "views" sorta kinda aligned with the views of some users here but now that he's "at war" with MAGA some (like the OP) are confused again. I don't see how it's "elitist" to criticize an actual "elite" crazy billionaire and his sycophants but hey, that's your opinion and this is mine.

Trump was just pandering his base, when he was being against electric vehicles. And his base is now shifting their views with him. Trump doesn't give a crap about being for or against electric vehicles as long he benefits from it. His ideology is about having power and fame. And if EV is helping him to gain that, he is pro EV.

Elon and Trump both want low taxes for ultra rich and less regulations for companies and corruption to hold them down. Trump wants power so that people admire him, and elon wants power because he actually believes that he wants to "save the world". Not because he would care about the world (he doesn't), but because he wants people to admire him for it.

Elon wants credit for everything, even when he doesn't have anything to do with them. Even when he haven't invented anything himself. That's why he keeps on making hostile takeovers. With OpenAI he didn't succeed, that's why he hates OpenAI.

Lol, I get your frustration here but that’s a whole buffet of spice right there. Sure, some of his public appearances and interviews are not exactly the most polished I give you that. The "hmm's" thing? Yeah, he can be awkward but let’s not forget, not everyone is a smoothtalking charmer when it comes to personalities like him. He’s a tech guy, not a standup comedian. 

As for the cheap actor bit, I mean come on either love him or hate him, the dude has undeniably had a massive impact. Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink he’s clearly not just winging it. Also, using his kid as a "bodyguard"? That sounds more like meme fuel than reality. 

Now, the programming part, it’s just a fun add, anyone can love hi people, as much as you can hate them too if you were the one programming that AI. So you are implying he is the classical stereotype of billionaire who wants to use his money to stay within the realm of relevance and keep the spotlight on him. I suppose it is true to some extent, though, he also has some credit for investing and holding stocks on successful companies, though, I don't think he is going to actually achieve to colonize Mars in his life-time.
Politically, his support for Trump indeed has something to do with the federal intentigations goin on against his companies in the USA and he probably wants Trump to apply tariffs which would give a boost to Tesla, but not other competitors, Like Ford... Elon musk is just like every billionaire out there who wants to sustain popularity and his level of influence.
I have figured out from personal researches that men of his status quote would post or make speeches that will attract attention or attacks just to remain relevant within the corridor of power.
