Everyone has been talking about investment without actually outlining the meaning of this investment we are talking about. I know we should invest in one  thing or the other, but what is the investment we are talking, i mean the meaning

Few days ago i was talking to a friend, and we were discussing about investment then, the question pop up. What is Investment, i asked? Shockingly, she wasn't able to answer. I was thinking I've met an investment expert that everything will start going smoothly for me not knowing that she wasn't!

It is obvious  that most investors can't define investment in a simple term, and that makes me confuse as a newbie in the field. So same question am bringing back here because i want to know the true meaning , so that i won't be confuse about my own definition.

There is nothing to be confused about when you here people saying investment. Normally if you finish secondary school you suppose don come across the word investment. And even if you weren't told about what an investment is in school, you have a smart phone and Google is there for you every day. If you type what an investment is and search for it, Google will give you the simple definition of investment. There smart phone in our hand are valuable tools for learning and not just for watching movies and do Facebook or Instagram. There are questions you ask as a grown up, people begin to wonder if really you are an intellectual. Because at this age and time, if you don't really know what an investment is, then what are you doing here in this forum?

If you are creating threads, it should be for something reasonable that will bring about serious discussion and not just for asking questions which ordinarily you out to have figured out on your own years ago. That being said, Investment is putting part of your money into something ( It could be business or others) which has the potential of yielding profit in the future. Or anything that that we put our capital outlay, that has the potential of bringing returns on the capital input is know as investment.  For example people investing in bitcoin. Bitcoin has the potential of bringing future returns on the capital invested. People investing in agriculture, real estate, construction etc. are all making investments.

Sincerely speaking, I see nothing wrong with Op question bro. I agreed with you that we've been hearing about the world investment right from our elementary school but believe me, not every knows what it really entails. Of course, Google and other modern learning tools exist but sometimes it's good to hear input of people around you in real life. In fact, nobody would have come here in the first place if we choose to use  Google for everyday learning.

By the way, investment is not only limited to money as you put in your definition. It can be your time, knowledge, efforts or whatever. It actually has to do with expectation of profits or positive result in return. Although, many of us misunderstood investment and assume its a must to yield positive result in the end but that's not the fact. Investment is more or less like a gambling, you don't always win.

It's very important to know that there's risk in every investments and you might loose at the end if you don't invest wisely. Invest wisely doesn't mean you're entirely free from its risk but it at least minimize potential risks. In short, investment involved just two things; either you make it or you lose it. You just have to take the risk and bear it.

Even someone in secondary school knows the mining of investment. It is better not to create any topic than to create a thread that will have no usefulness. There is nothing that anyone will gain from this thread because we all understand what investment is. Also likely anyone can come up with anything. I can say I saw someone yesterday that does not know the meaning of buy and sell. I am not implying investment is trading.

To be honest, nothing dy here to discuss, anybody wey go small school surpose know wetin investment be, and no be something wey reach to use create topic because in this our naija local board na better things we dy talk about, no be this one wey no get any head or tail.

Buy you obviously said she's a friend and not a financial adviser neither did you made mentioned she's an investment expert. See,we're Nigerians and most times we literally know what we're doing and can practically illiterate it but difficult to put it to explanation.
At some points we just hold on to get the outcome we expected even though we theoretically can't define it like the days at schools when we've quizzes.
However, investment is simply a form venture that has to do with the stake of your values or funds that's expected to produce you profits either on a long or short term such as investing for retirements.

almost all the persons on the forum knows what Investment is on a general bases and those using it on the forum still make use of that knowledge to narrow it down to the idea of Bitcoin investment which which deals with taking some sacrifices at the present with the hope of getting good returns in the future.

Be it the regular investment in persons or assets or any other general thing, the key thing is that you're looking at the potential duties returns that is associated with getting a particular asset class that has the tendency of appreciating with time based on the quantity of the asset you where able to get. Another thing is that even if one doesn't outrightly understand the meaning of investment, as long as you're going about it the right way and can wait till toi get good returns from it in the future, that matters even more than having all investment knowledge with zero investment that is tied to your name.

Funny as it sounds, but some pinch of true fit dey although no be as you dey point am to be sha, watin I feel be say the person go know am but na to explain am properly to you na go be problem because yo explain something verbally to some person understanding it's kinda hard for some person. But on a general lay man language investment na simply savings wey u keep assets wey supposed bring you profits for future although not necessarily all dey yeild, ofcourse dat na if you save on the wrong asset.

Everybody in this forum knows about investment,but for people who are just entering into the forum must know it first,they say no knowledge is small,but if you should know about investment,it simply means placing your money in coins,hoping it will yield greater results in the future.
In this forum,we invest in projects,and coins that we see to have the potential of bringing out good profit with time.

It's obvious that the is are trying to get engaged with the other members of the board because asking such generic elementary questions is really out of place, I don't know if he is trying to increase his forum activities also, because that is the other thing that could push a newbie into creating a baseless thread like this one.

Ops learn something quick, you can still achieve all that I mentioned in both activities and engage with other forum members via your comments, you don't need to create a thread when you have nothing tangible to talk about, simply do Google search instead.
