To be able to win long term, self control is one key to it and I think that's the harder part. As you've mentioned OP, you're having hard time following that percentage you'll be betting from your bankroll and that's why that's the harder part. Actually, I think self-control can be done as long as we have strict discipline, with that there will be no behavior that leads us to risky actions. It's just that this is a problem that often occurs and I think it's because those who can't maintain their self-control when gambling until they experience something that is detrimental to themselves, after all, it's their own fault, not the casino's. Exactly. This is basically what self control is all about. As a gambler you have to make sure you keep track of your gambling activities which include how much you spend on staking and how often you win when you do make those stakes. You actually find out that most gamblers are in net loss but it seems like they are even in both win and loss or in win.
